Chapter 5755 Metamorphosis
Chapter 5755 Metamorphosis
Luo Yanfeng raised his head and roared, marking his first formal step into the realm of true experts. The perilous brushes with death had stimulated his bloodline, triggering a profound awakening.
This transformation wasn’t simply an increase in power; it was the awakening of his combat instincts. It was an indescribable, primal mystery.
He had fought on the battlefield only twice, yet he had already evolved from a novice into a true warrior. Long Chen couldn't help but marvel at the violet blood race's extraordinary potential. They were truly one of the strongest bloodlines of the human race.
After all, Long Chen and the Dragonblood Legion had endured countless trials and near-death experiences to awaken similar combat instincts.
Fortunately, Luo Yanfeng was a comrade; otherwise, Long Chen might have felt a twinge of jealousy. Comparison truly was the thief of joy.
Luo Yanfeng’s thunderous roar reverberated across the battlefield. Following the shockwaves from the death of their leader, the devils were overwhelmed with fear.
“Run!”
Some turned tail and fled, triggering widespread panic. Their once-formidable army crumbled in an instant. However, the devil facing Luo Ying didn’t even have a chance to escape before she struck him down.
Meanwhile, the other squad leaders gritted their teeth and launched reckless, almost suicidal attacks. If Luo Yanfeng and Luo Ying had killed their opponents, they couldn’t lose to them.
Their opponents attempted to retreat, but the squad leaders relentlessly pursued them, preventing them from escaping. The Luo family’s disciples swiftly surrounded the battlefield, trapping the remaining devils like turtles in a jar.
In the end, all of the devils were slain.
Though victorious, Luo Yanfeng and the others were severely wounded. They had paid a heavy price to claim their victory—one of them even had three bloody holes in his chest.
Fortunately, the violet blood race’s recovery power was excellent. Even if their opponents’ weapons were laced with poison or curse, as long as the grade wasn’t too strong, they would have limited effects on these warriors.
Luo Yanfeng and the others had completed their mission. Likewise, Long Chen had upheld his promise. Though the Luo family’s warriors were covered in wounds, not a single one had perished.
“Who saved me just now?” Luo Ying suddenly asked, her voice filled with curiosity.
Luo Yanfeng and the others exchanged surprised glances.
Luo Yanfeng replied, “I was barely able to look after myself. It’s not me.”
“Same here. Not calling for help was all I could do,” Luo Jiang added with a bitter smile.
None of them had noticed Long Chen’s silent intervention. As Luo Ying’s gaze slowly shifted to him, he was focused on a map in his hands.
Long Chen said, “We were transported deep into the battlefield, and there were no reinforcements coming from any direction. We have to leave this place before the next wave of enemies arrives.”
“Those Bi family idiots, how dare they harm us with such a method?!” shouted Luo Ying.
She gritted her teeth furiously, forgetting about the question of who had saved her.
“Once we return, we’ll demand an explanation from them!” Zimo said grimly.
The Bi family was far too treacherous. They had clearly tried to kill Luo Yanfeng and his comrades here. If it hadn’t been for Long Chen, at least half of them would have died.
“Revenge can wait,” Long Chen said, his gaze sharp. “Right now, we need to focus on survival. If we’re surrounded by stronger enemies, we’ll be wiped out. Our only option is to keep moving, breaking through their encirclements and seizing the initiative.”
“Long Chen, just tell us what to do. We’ll follow your lead,” Luo Yanfeng declared, and the others nodded in agreement.
“Then follow me. We’re heading west,” Long Chen announced, his eyes scanning the map.
“The west? But that’s where the devil race’s hive is—” Luo Ying blurted out, then immediately clamped her mouth shut. “Ah, forget I said anything.”
By questioning his decision, she had unintentionally doubted his judgment, and she instantly regretted it. But Long Chen simply smiled.
“If you don’t understand, feel free to ask. That’s fine,” Long Chen said, smiling. “The problem is we have entered too deep into the battlefield. Normally speaking, after being isolated, we should do everything we can to return to our side’s territory. But our enemies know this as well. They will gather their troops to block us, and we’ll be going right into their trap. So, we’ll do the opposite instead. What seems the most dangerous is actually the safest route. We can do it!”
His explanation quickly won everyone over.
“Long Chen, you’re a genius! Good thing we have a strategist like you,” Luo Yanfeng exclaimed.
Long Chen merely smirked. Such basic tactics hardly counted as genius, but to them, it seemed impressive.
Under Long Chen’s command, they concealed their auras and flew for an hour before resting for a bit. Then, he ordered a small group to release their violet blood qi and head south before doubling back. After regrouping, they once again concealed their auras and went north.
If their enemies were tracking them, they would follow the aura decoy. This simple trick was viewed as an ingenious maneuver by Luo Yanfeng and the others.
They had only gone north for a short time before they encountered a small squad of devils. Without hesitation, Long Chen ordered their complete annihilation. No survivors could be allowed to escape and alert their main army.
Under his guidance, the devils were wiped out before they could mount a defense.
Long Chen noted with satisfaction that the Luo family’s combat prowess had soared. Luo Yanfeng’s growth was particularly astonishing—his power was rapidly approaching that of Netherdragon Tianfeng.
In a recent skirmish, he had single-handedly defeated three thirteen-vein Heaven Saints in a few moves. The violet blood race’s true strength was starting to manifest.
Moreover, Long Chen didn’t need to instruct them anymore. They were naturally learning how to conserve energy, how to maximize efficiency in battle, and how to strike with lethal precision.
“It’s no wonder grandpa likes them so much,” Long Chen muttered.
Seeing their rapid growth, Long Chen was gratified. These children had good character and high potential. Who wouldn’t like them?
With Long Chen leading them, they zigzagged throughout the devil race’s territory, engaging in frequent skirmishes.
Each battle drained them further. But this was intentional. Long Chen wanted to temper their wills, forcing them to hone their instincts, to sense the battlefield’s flow, and to wield their energy with precision.
In the past, they had recklessly spent their energy in battle. Now, exhaustion forced them to value every movement, to preserve their strength for the critical moment between life and death. As a result, their battle instincts were maturing at an astonishing rate.
By the third day, Long Chen saw that they had been pushed to their limits. He decided to finally lead them out. Any further, and their mental fortitude might break.
They successfully avoided a large army of devils and returned to the violet blood race’s territory.
Just as they were about to cross over, a figure suddenly appeared, blocking their path.
The moment they recognized the figure, Luo Yanfeng and the others erupted with killing intent.
