Chapter 4: Chapter 4: You Are Not Allowed to Attend the Party
Drake's completely fabricated information was like a bomb dropped into deep water, making the chat explode with activity.
Nikkes were all asking about the authenticity of this news.
Rupee: "Sweetie is really going to pick a Nikke tonight? Then it has to be me, Rupee!"
Drake: "Yes, and he is going to sleep too."
Sugar: "Can we kiss while sleeping?"
Rapi: "No, a Nikke is a subordinate to the Commander. Everyone, please refrain from crossing the line."
Sugar: "Alright, then let me change the question. Can we sleep while kissing?"
Rapi: "....."
Rapunzel: "In the dark night, facing a trembling Nikke in the consultation room, the Commander takes off his shirt, transforming into a brutal beast, using his menacing spear to bring Nikke to her knees, forcing her into submission all night... panting, panting..."
Rapunzel: "By dawn, the Commander looks at the limp and boneless Nikke lying on the bed, showing a devilish smile. He gently caresses Nikke's delicate body, whispering in her ear: 'What happened between us stays here. Do not report to the Central Government or tell any other Nikkes. Remember, I know your identification number and your unit...' "
Soline: "Is the Commander really such a person???"
Rapunzel: "Of course, no one knows the Commander better than I do. Beneath that cold exterior lies a primal desire and his goal is to mold every Nikke at the outpost base into his image... panting, panting... I can't stop my wild imagination!"
Green nearly spat another mouthful of coffee onto the command center desk.
Damn it, Rapunzel, why is your imagination so vivid?!
"But Rapunzel is half right."
Green put down his coffee cup and quietly appreciated the figures of Nikkes in his mind. Nikkes are all adorable and sexy beings. As a physically and mentally normal man, how could he not feel tempted? However, for Green to assault a Nikke in the consultation room at night—unless the other party willingly cooperated—it would be extremely challenging.
As someone who often goes on ground missions, Green knows better than anyone the weight of a Nikke's body. Generally speaking, the combat-type Nikke bodies weigh between 100kg~300kg. Some special models equipped with unique cores and heavy firepower weapons weigh several times more (like Rapi or Laplace).
Although there are lightweight, daily-use bodies, Nikkes rarely switch to them unless on extended leave or attending banquets.
The first reason is that applying for a lightweight body requires upper-level approval. The process isn't long, but many Nikkes prefer maintaining the illusion of being "human." Unless damaged in combat or during scheduled maintenance, they seldom change bodies.
The second reason is that the Ark is far from peaceful. Emergencies arise often. For a Nikke in such situations, taking the time to switch bodies is cumbersome.
Considering their weight—easily over 100 kilograms—it's absurd to suggest Green could physically overpower them for a nefarious purpose.
To this, Green mused: "If my pelvis doesn't shatter, that would already be a success."
"But with my current physical fitness, I might be able to handle it."
Temporarily dismissing such thoughts, Green got up from his office chair, opened a drawer, and retrieved a silver-black handgun along with its cleaning kit for routine maintenance.
Staring at the gun, memories resurfaced in his mind.
This is the very gun he used to execute his personal Nikke—Marian, who had been corrupted by the Rapture. That day, he witnessed Marian's body torn apart by the Blacksmith, her arms and legs shredded, leaving only crimson eyes and a broken frame repeatedly murmuring, "I'm here."
"A corrupted Nikke becomes an accomplice of the Rapture. A Nikke has no authority to execute another Nikke. Commander, you must do it."
Under Rapi's urging, Green's finger hovered over the trigger. But why did his hand tremble when he tried to pull it? For a long time, the fatal shot didn't come from the gun's dark barrel.
Green took a shaky breath, his chest heavy with anger and sorrow, rendering him unable to act. After all, asking a Commander to execute his own Nikke was an unbearable cruelty.
"Commander... I'm here..."
"Marian?"
In a daze, Green heard Marian's voice. She reached out her hand, gently placing it on his trembling one over the trigger.
Even corrupted by the Rapture, she smiled softly, calling to him with tenderness, "Commander, I'm so happy you bandaged me..."
After all, it was the first act of kindness she had ever experienced since becoming a Nikke.
Then, she pressed down on his finger, pulling the trigger for him.
Bang!
The memory of the bullet striking tore Green out of that painful yet tender recollection. From that day forward, Green found his life's purpose, a cause he would fight for tirelessly:
To annihilate the Rapture.
To liberate the Nikkes.
He would never allow another Nikke to be corrupted.
And as for Marian... Worry clouded Green's face.
Even though he had led the Counterattack Squad to defeat the Punishment Force, Marian was still corrupted in the end. The only way to save her was to hand her over to Ingrid for a complete memory wipe.
Green had indeed made that decision. To save Marian, he had to do it. But that also meant Marian would never come back. She would become like a newborn, her memory, intellect, and everything else starting anew...
By then, would Marian still remember him? Green felt a little uneasy.
Even though he had the memories of a transmigrator, he couldn't be sure whether the upcoming events would unfold exactly as they had in the game.
Now, the only thing he could do was wait.
Feeling slightly restless, Green opened the group chat to see what strange topics the Nikkes were discussing.
[Commander's Fan Club]
Lucky Bunny (Blanc): "I want to attend a party."
Mask-Free Rebel (Maiden): "Me too."
Exhausted Wage Slave (Yulha): "+1."
Rapi: "The outpost base's consultation room is not a hookup den. Everyone, please c0nduct yourselves properly. Even if there's an event, unauthozed Nikkes are not allowed to attend the porty."
Privaty: "Not allowed? Rapi, you seem a bit rushed today, even making a typo."
Privaty: "I get it! You're just trying to keep everyone away so you can secretly enjoy it by yourself, huh?"
