NIKKE: Max Bonded but System Gone

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Liberating the Nikkes

Seeing the relatively harmonious atmosphere of the forum made Green breathe a small sigh of relief.

In the Ark, the mental states of Nikkes are far from stable. They aren't just fighting bloody battles against the Rapture on the surface—they also return to the Ark only to face discrimination from ordinary humans. To maintain emotional stability, the Ark periodically erases the Nikkes' memories to prevent them from undergoing "mind shifts."

To put it nicely, Nikkes are humanity's hope of reclaiming the surface—the Victory Goddesses.

To put it bluntly, Nikkes were nothing more than humanity's beasts of burden, expendable war assets, and recyclable humanoid weapons.

As for Green, the commander, he wasn't much better off. He, too, was considered "expendable" and "cannon fodder." The only difference was that Nikkes were reusable assets, while commanders were like crops—once harvested, new ones would sprout from military academies.

Green still remembered his 50 or so peers who graduated with him. Many had already died, and the survivors were either severely injured or institutionalized, struggling to heal the trauma of a battlefield that tore their minds apart.

The war between humanity and the Rapture was cruel beyond measure. For this reason, most Nikkes and commanders alike were in poor mental health.

"It's nice to see everyone in such high spirits," Green muttered as he took another sip of coffee.

Unlike many in the Ark who harbored prejudices against the Nikkes, Green was different. As a commander, Green cared for the Nikkes more than anyone else. After all, compared to the greedy and selfish humans, these "Goddesses of Victory ," who risked everything to fight for humanity's hope, deserved proper human rights. They shouldn't be subjected to endless cycles of life and death until their minds and bodies are completely destroyed.

"Liberate the Nikkes."

Green picked up a pen and wrote these four powerful words in his notebook. Then, he flipped to the next page and added:

"Even if you max out their affection, you must truly understand them. That should do it."

Having set a clear direction for the future, Green decided to make his presence known in the chat group. Building rapport with the Nikkes and getting familiar with them would pave the way to truly understanding their inner worlds.

Clearing his throat, Green opened the chat forum of the fan club and sent his first message.

William: Newbie reporting in~

For a while, there was no response.

Not surprising, Green thought. As a newcomer, such a mundane greeting was unlikely to stir much interest. But if life has taught anything, it's to expect the unexpected.

Invincible T-Rex Villain (Drake): I have a bad feeling today.

Guillotine Hermes (Guillotine): Are you talking about "them" from the "organization"?

Drake: Hahaha, exactly! My villain instincts tell me there's a spy among us!

Guillotine: So, you're saying "he" might have infiltrated the guild?

Drake: @William, newbie, is it you?!

Green almost stumbled from his chair. How did Drake, this self-proclaimed genius, even suspect him?

A lucky guess?

Green had no intention of revealing his identity. The internet was a wonderful place, after all—one where he could observe things that reality often hid.

He needed to blend in with the Nikkes. After pondering briefly, Green typed out a reply.

William: I'm just an ordinary Nikke assigned under the commander's wing. Lately, because of work, I've been pretty close to him.

Drake: I don't believe you. Prove it!

William: Proof? Don't worry, I've got some. Let me show you a bit of "Commander 101."

Anis: What now? Are you going to confess to the commander too? Listen, it won't work. To date, he hasn't accepted anyone's confession. If you go in blindly, you're just asking for a shiny red mark on your face.

Neon: Exactly! Master is such a workaholic. I wonder when he'll ever come to his senses… (pouts)

Drake: Hahaha! Can't wait to see another failed attempt. Truly entertaining!

Green smirked. Switching between his main and alternate accounts, he started fabricating a conversation.

[William]: Commander, are you there? You've been in your position for six months now. How are you feeling lately?

[Commander]: I'm fine. Is there something you need?

Drake: I'm not much of a talker, but I can tell you—any conversation that starts with "Are you there?" ends with someone looking foolish.

Neon: No chance this works, haha!

Anis: Hoho!

William: What's the rush? Keep watching!

[William]: Yes, I do have a question for you.

[Commander]: Go ahead.

[William]: Lately, you've been taking Nikkes into the consultation room for private chats. Among them, is there one you particularly like?

[Commander]: Well… you could say that.

The moment Green shared the fabricated screenshots, the entire forum exploded.

Anis: ?

Neon: ?

Privaty: ?

Soline: ?????

Soline: I just clocked out. What the heck happened?!
