Chapter L2: Elemental Slice
"Too weak, again" Ferdinand, one of the cardinals of the Church of Space, a religious organization devoted to Theo, the God of Space, one of the seven Greater Gods that created this world, told me after defending my practice sword that I swung at him.
It's been a week since our whole class was isekaid to this world and, honestly, nothing much happened in this time. We were presented with the circumstances regarding our summoning. Apparently there is this vampire lord that is turning people into half-demons and they are endangering the whole kingdom. Why a vampire is turning people into half-demons instead of, you know, thralls or other vampires is beyond me. Anyway, suffice to say those thralls aren't that strong, but they are numerous, like a zombie apocalypse kind of numerous, and is overloading the army of this and surrounding kingdoms.
The answer the Church of Space came up with was an ancient ritual made to breach "the dimensional barriers and create a dimensional hardened spatial corridor between universes"... honestly I have no idea what that means, but it was what they told us, so it is what it is. Anyway, the summon ritual should pick a person in another universe that resonated with the ritual and "extract and materialize them in this plane of existence while lessening the burden of the extraphysical change of laws between universes"... for the love of god, I'm a highschooler with a liking to isekai novels, not a scientist, please explain to us with normal words…
Basically, anything brought up by the ritual is changed to obey the laws of physics this world has, in other words, it should allow us to use magic and skills. should being the key word, because while I certainly can use skills, I can't use magic, like, at all. The second day of our arrival we were brought to a chamber where they tested us for our magical aptitude, and while most of our classroom got amazing magical aptitude, by the clergy's words, I got almost none. I… I don't even know what to say, you know? What's even the point in being isekaid if I can't use the thing isekai is known for? Where's my overpowered magic powers all protagonists have?
Rant about magic aside, I discovered some things about my own skills. First, [RPG HUD] is more than simply a HUD, while true that I have a HUD in my vision it can do more than that. It's connected to my [Game Inventory] skill, meaning I can visualize my inventory as an element on my HUD. It can highlight things I'm looking for, if I know what I'm looking for, and can even loot stuff. Basically it transports stuff directly into my inventory, but instead of just storing it, like my inventory does if I just use it, if I loot the thing, it changes how it's stored. For example, if I store an unprocessed piece of meat with the looting ability, it stores the meat in slices and the bones separately.
Anyway, after being tested for magic, the ones who had a great aptitude for it were taken to learn magic, while the rest (read: me) were taken to choose a weapon to train in. I was taken to their armory and told to choose the weapon I was mostly comfortable in using, like I didn't live in a world where most of the items in that place would be in a museum. With a sigh I had began walking around looking for a weapon that caught my attention. There were bows, maces, spears, staves and swords. Among all of them, one was different from the others, it had an almost invisible sheen of light around it. Honestly, it was weird, it felt like the sword was waiting for me and when I picked it up it felt as if I knew it my whole life, like a friend I never knew I had.
The clergy that was with me told me I was lucky, the sword I had chosen was a special kind of sword, forged with a mixture of metal and pulverized draconic scales, it had a semblance of consciousness and chose its wielder. I was the first wielder the sword ever chose, and with that, I was enlisted to sword classes with the cardinal Ferdinand, and that takes us back to the present.
"Focus, else you'll get killed in seconds during a battle" Ferdinand said as he easily sidestepped my blow and swung his sword, striking me right across the chest. If I wasn't wearing protective gear and the swords weren't dull I would have been bisected.

"Gah!" I screamed as I was thrown across the floor, hitting my back on the walls.
"You need to compensate for your lack of magic with physical skill and actual Skills if you want to survive what's to come. Here..." he said as he put his hand on a pocket dimension type of magic and pulled a sword. The blade itself was made out of a mixture of powdered dragon scales and mythril, giving the blade a whitish metal appearance and a small shimmer throughout the blade. The guard was made out of two intertwined colorless crystals that become white whenever I grab the sword by draining my magicules slowly. The hilt was made out of moon-quartz, a magicule conductor, with gold lines etched on it.
Of course, the blade Ferdinand gave me was the unnamed European style sword that chose me, and honestly I would prefer it if it was like a katana, but whatever. The reason it was unnamed was, according to the information they gave me was that it still hadn't chosen one for itself… Okay? Weird, but okay.
"The physical part of your training for today is over" Ferdinand said. "Next, you'll need to familiarize yourself with the abilities your sword gives you." He gave me a single glance before continuing. "As you clearly don't remember, I must inform you again. The sword will absorb your magicules and store it inside itself and then release them with the elemental affinity the dragon whose scales were used to forge it had"
I tightened my hands around the sword handle and gave Ferdinand a nod. Feeling the pull on my magicules and the feeling I was receiving from the sword, like it was a whisper in the back of my head. "Each sword forged using dragon scale powder is different from one another, so I can't say for certain what this sword will do, but try to follow it and attack this dummy" Ferdinand said, and, with a snap of his finger, a training dummy was teleported from somewhere to the training area we both were.
I steadied my breath and calmed my heart as the most intense of the training was over. This part of the training, where I was given the sword I chose, was new; Probably to familiarize myself with my actual sword instead of the training ones I was given through the week.
Listening to the whispers of my sword, I focused on the dummy and an image of it being cut by a pressurized gust of wind came in my mind as I moved my arms in a slicing motion, feeling the sword pull even more magicules from me. At the same time, the sword glowed with the cyan color of the air element and as I finished the cutting motion, a wave of pressurized air shot out of the sword and rushed to the dummy, hitting it and making it explode into countless shards of wood.
"Not bad. So the sword element is wind. I'll get into contact with some wind blade mages to help with your training" Ferdinand said, but I ignored it as my brows furrowed after feeling something strange about the whole thing. It didn't felt like I used the sword entirely, but used it as a walking stick. It was a strange feeling, and I needed to test it.
"Cardinal, could you give me another dummy?" I asked Ferdinand, which looked at me before nodding and snapping his finger again, and another dummy appearing where the other one was.
I took a deep breath as I listened to the whispers again, this time as the image of the wind cutting the dummy came to my mind, I forcefully shove it away to the back of my mind. I took my time listening to the sword, and each time the wind image came up I shoved it back again. And soon enough, various images flooded my mind, each with another kind of attack, and with it, a notification from the system came as well

Information rushed inside my mind and I knew how to choose an specific element I wanted and use it to create an elemental attack, and I also knew this was only possible with this specific sword, and that if I chose to use the skill with any other type of weapon, or swords, it would fail.
Immediatly I tried the skill, choosing the fire element and as I swung the sword, the blade caught fire and shot it at the dummy as I finished the arc.
"Impressive, two elements in a single sword" Ferdinand said, before I shook my head at him and swung again, this time I wanted to be a bit flashier and chose the space element, but as I finished the swing, my head felt fuzzy and the next thing I knew I was on the ground with a terrible headache.
"...This deserves more attention" Was all I heard from ferdinand before everything blacked out.
