Chapter Extra Chapter 2: A Favour

Farahio stood next to the dungeon entrance with his hand extended towards the plains he and Denaru passed through a few minutes before, his eyes filled with concentration as he tried chanting, an act he didn't do anymore after acquiring the [Chant Nullification] skill, which allowed the person to skip the chant process and directly cast a spell onto the world by sacrificing a bit of efficiency and potency.

"I call upon me the energy of creation, burn with the energy of a quasar, and devour with the hunger of a black hole. Through the power of a blue giant, explode. Stellar Nova," he repeated the chant Denaru had used to cast the blast that tore through his defenses like they weren't even there. He had tried to shake Denaru out of whatever trance he had entered when casting this specific version of a fireball spell. If Farahio hadn't used his [Warp Step] skill to teleport out of the way, he was sure he would have been cut in half just like the terrain hit by the spell.

After a few moments of nothing happening, Farahio shook his hand and tried again, and again with no change to the outcome. He tried to change his mental visualization to be the same he saw Denaru producing, but it didn't work. Something about this specific spell was different from the norm, but he couldn't quite understand what was so different about it.

Of course, Denaru was someone that put into question the teachings of the Church of Death and the Church of Life with being reborn with his memories of his past life intact. Usually what would happen is a child being born with one [Unique] skill that was a remnant of that soul's past life, but Denaru was such an oddity that demanded he studied him. His most recent theory was that because Denaru was a victim of [Theo's Bridge], he might have received some very unusual skills that allowed him to do what he could.

Even without Denaru actually telling him about what skills he had, only talking a little about them, Farahio was sure that he had at least two [Unique] skills with one of them being the shapeshifting skill Denaru has shown to possess.

"You can come out, now. I felt your aura kilometers from here," Farahio said out loud, and a figure sizzled into view a few meters away from him.

The figure had a white overall that covered them from head to toe, not leaving anything to view as it covered every piece of their body. The figure bowed to Farahio before starting to speak.

"Lord Farahio. The Guild leader was contacted by the Mimic Extermination Coalition. They are demanding you surrender the mimic you are protecting else they will charge you with crimes against the EXCEED by allowing mimics to live and possibly multiply," the figure said, the voice distorted by the effects of a skill.

"Tell that old guy the situation is under control and that everything is a misunderstanding," Farahio told the figure.

"I must remind you, lord Farahio, that the guild leader is younger than you by more than half your age," the figure said.

"He's human," was the only thing Farahio used to explain his point.

The figure stared at Farahio for a few minutes until it bowed again. "Very well, lord Farahio. The guild leader also wanted me to pass on a message"

"I already imagine what it is, but let's hear it."

"Farahio!" The figure's voice took the sound of an old male human. "What do you think you are doing? Do you want to lose all laboratory rights? Remember the deal with the crown for you to work as part of the mage's guild for five hundred years before they'd return your noble title and house!"

"Yeah, yeah. I know," he said, but knew this was a recorded message and not a transmission. He had cut off his communicator crystal for a reason, after all.

"You still have over fifty years left. What do you think you are doing!? Do you want to lose your nobility status forever?!" The figure's voice went back to its distorted normal. "That was all. Would you like to pass a response?"

"No. You can go now," Farahio said to the figure, who bowed and faded away. Farahio could still track their movement through his [Magicule Detection] as their main job wasn't of being an assassin but a messenger only available to those in power to contact people that couldn't be contacted by a communication crystal, just like Farahio was at the moment.

"It seems like our time will be limited," Farahio spoke out loud as he looked at the dungeon entrance.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

He pulled his communication crystal from his space ring and activated it. The crystal floated in front of Farahio before the shape of a woman manifested around the crystal.

The woman was an elf with long grey hair and purple eyes. Her clothes were adorned with golden lines and runes for protection against physical and magical attacks, a very typical piece of clothing that every person above a certain level of nobility, wealth, or personal level usually has as it protects the wearer from many types of surprise attacks.

"Matilda!" Farahio started but was cut off.

"Farahio. What do you want?" She said coldly.

"Wow, such coldness. Is that how you treat your nephew?"

"After what you've done? You're lucky I don't track your location and kill you myself."

"It's been a thousand years, surely you still can't hold that grudge."

Matilda only stared coldly at Farahio in response to him.

"...Fine…Fine. Look. I need a favour," Farahio broke his nonchalant voice, sounding serious.

"And why should I do you a favour? You could as well rot away inside Yggdrasil," Matilda stated.

"It's not for me, it's for a boy I met a few days ago. Jack is coming for him because of a misunderstanding and won't hear any type of explanation." Matilda's eyebrow rose as she listened to Farahio, clearly interested in the person that caused him to call her out of everyone else.

"Tell me more…" She asked him

[Myriad Palace]

"Athor! I'm baaack!" Amity shouts as she barges through the main entrance of the Myriad palace. The crystalline doors, each around 80 meters high and 30 meters long, were sung open so fast that if the crystal that made the entirety of the palace weren't made of the Dragon King's own power, they would have shattered instantly.

"Lady Amity." Lilith, the first angel of the Dragon King, appears as the doors rebound on the crystalline walls and close behind Amity. "I must remind you to not hit on the doors with such force as it is very impolite."

"Lily! How have you been?" Amity half-shouted as she gave Lilith a hug that could bend steel.

"I'm fine, Lady Amity. I must also remind you to call me by my name, Lilith, not Lily."

"Okay!" Amity said, nodding, but Lilith knew what she had just said had gone through one ear and out of the other. The elf in front of her was almost as old as she was, and unfortunately, her mind wasn't in the best state when she had shed her mortality, causing her to be forever stuck in this altered mental space.

"I'm sure you're here to see Master. Unfortunately, he is currently busy with preparations for the nesting season and will not be able to see you."

"Oh! That's right!" Amity, suddenly remembering the encounter she had had a few days ago with a young dragon, looked at Lilith with the playful anger of a small child. "Why didn't Athor tell me about the dragon living in the Darnas forest?"

"The Darnas forest?" Lilith asked. She tried to remember any detail about the very few dragons living in the Dragon King territory currently, then tried to match their locations on the mental map of the territory and, trying to identify who Amity might have been speaking of. Still, there wasn't any dragon anywhere close to the kingdom where the Darnas forest is located.

"I'm afraid I am not aware of any dragon currently living close to the Darnas forest, Lady Amity."

"What do you mean? I talked with him! I even tried to bring him to my castle! Huh, that's right, I tried to teleport with him to my castle, but he didn't arrive with me. Where is he?" Amity remembered that when she appeared in her castle, the dragon that she had just talked with and invited to her castle had simply vanished during her teleport, which was something almost impossible to do.

"Lady Amity, are you sure it was a…" She started, but a message from her master interrupted her train of thought as she listened to it. "Lady Amity, Master has tasked me to ask for your help in a strange matter that happened in the Elotron Kingdom on the Araes continent."

"Oh? Athor is asking me something? Of course! Tell him that this will be his seventh favour and that he still needs to give me a present for them, okay?" Amity said already moving, shoving the crystalline doors open and already leaving the palace.

"Lady Amity…" Lilith called out after her, causing Amity to stop and turn around.

"Yes?"

"You still don't know the contents of the request."

"Oh, right! Silly me, forgetting about asking what I need to do." Amity smiled at Lilith, who only sighed.

"Master has informed me he has sensed an unknown use of Origin Magic somewhere near Flamecrest. He asks of you to investigate this and… bring the information directly to him. I don't know why he wants it directly instead of my daily reports, but he seemed very eager about it, which is highly unusual of him."

"Origin Magic? Oh, that!" Amity remembered after a few moments. "Okay! Athor can count on me! Elotron, right? I'm going right now!"

Amity didn't waste a second before creating a teleportation circle below her that would lead her back to her castle, where she would then learn where Elotron was and fly there as fast as she could. Her best friend was counting on her for this mission and she was happy to do it.
