Chapter 19: New Skill and Manipulation of Magicules
For the past few hours I had been experimenting with my new skill and there's a good thing and a bad thing. The good thing is that I can create more complex spells then I could with [Spell Planner], the bad news is that I couldn't know what worked and what didn't. [Magical Programming Language] worked almost exactly like a code editor, the difference was that if I wrote a non-working code, it wouldn't give me a warning, no, it would just do it, and I didn't know what a wrong magical spell would do, but I was sure it would be nothing good.
The reason why I didn't know what happened with wrong code was simple. The anti-magic field broke down every spell I made before it had a chance to actually do something. I also discovered I could save my spells and load them whenever, and also cast my saved spells without having to open the editor, I had to just think of the spell I wanted to cast and activate the skill and it would automatically cast it for me, wasn't that nice?
Anyway, there wasn't much I could do with my new skill while on an anti-magic field, so I had to somehow overpower it. I had done it before, when I used my [Elemental Breath] on it, but that almost took everything I had, so I didn't want to take the risk of being recaptured again on this loop.
"How was the little trouble weasel?" A voice coming from behind me returned me to reality as I looked around and saw a new knight coming to change shifts with the one who was watching me at the moment. In total, 5 knights had changed shifts until at this moment.
"Eh. it was just looking at nothing for the most part. Poor little guy, must be terrified of where it is and is locked in fear" the other knight told the new one. Good, it seems like my practice with my new skill was being mistaken for fear, meaning I would be able to keep going.
"Poor thing. Oh well, orders are orders" The knight took the chair the other one was sitting on, and before the other left, he continued. "Oh, yeah. According to the chef, it was the one who started the fire"
The other guard stopped and turned slowly. "The weasel?" he asked.
"Yep"
"How? Did it drop some fire stones next to the tent's cloth?"
"Nuep. According to the chef it was inside a hole, somehow cooking stolen meat, that it stole no less, and when it was found started running and shooting little fireballs that started the fire" The knight said with a straight face.
"You serious?" The other one asked, side-eying me as it did so.
The new knight burst out laughing, and the other one seemed relieved. "Oh, completely serious. This was actually what the chef told us and the brat, but you can imagine his reaction after being told an Earthclaw Weasel started spitting fireballs and started a fire. He got himself a guard to "prevent another incident""
Both of them laughed out loud. So it seemed the blame on the fire I had started fell on the chef, the guy who found me. Poor guy, he didn't do anything wrong. It's not like I will disprove them, though. The less eyes on me there are, the better.
After they both laughed a little more and promised to catch up during lunch, one left and the other one came next to me, putting his face next to the cage. I could put my paws and try to gouge his eye out, but I'm pretty sure I'm not physically capable of hurting him, considering he is a knight protecting a noble in a dangerous forest. I'm sure he is at least 20 levels or more above me.
"Hey there, little guy. Tell me, was it really you who started the fire?" He asked me, but I just stared at him for a few seconds before he laughed again and went to sit on the chair, and immediately lifted the two front feet of the chair and started swinging back and forth on the two back feet of the chair, looking bored already and occasionally laughing a little while muttering stuff like "a fire weasel" and "the chef was on something".
Ignoring him, I closed my eyes and concentrated on myself, specifically on my own magicules I could sense thanks to [Magicule Detection]. I could sense how it was moving around my own body and getting disrupted near my skin. One thing I noticed was how different it was moving while I was on this weasel form compared to my true self and my wolf form, leading me to believe that [Genetic Dysphoria] wasn't just changing my body, but my magic as well.
My true form, that of a dragon, I had a small "lump" of magicules in the base of my throat, it was through there that came my [Elemental Breath], but while I was on the weasel or wolf form, that lump was moved to next to my heart. If I were to think about it using game knowledge, I would say this "lump" I'm saying was my monster core, something the players would harvest on their grind to the next level.
From what I could sense, my magicules were coursing through my body mainly like blood in arteries, coming from that lump and then returning there after having circled my entire body, just like blood works, though I am pretty sure the amount arriving there is slightly more than what leaves and I don't know enough about magic to understand how it would be possible.

Now that I had a mental image of how my magicules flowed in my body, it was time I began practicing [Magicule Manipulation] for real. The first thing I did was wrapping my mind over my own body, with the help of the skill, and then simply pressing it down, as if I was holding my blood back, stopping it from moving.
The reaction was almost immediate, I felt all my magicules stopping dead in their tracks, with the sole exception of those being disrupted by the anti-magic field. Honestly, the sensation was weird, like that gut feeling you have when going on those rides that drop you for a dozen meters or so. It was like my insides were floating, but not at the same time. I released my hold on my magicules and they slowly started flowing again, picking up speed until it was back as it was before. I tried holding a small portion of my magicules near the anti-magic field, but it tore through my control like a hot knife through butter, of course it wouldn't be so easy.
I kept trying to hold onto a small portion, trying to tighten my mental grip on it, but every time it escaped my hold like water escaping through my fingers. Frustrated, I tried to move a small amount of magicules from deeper, where it wasn't disrupted yet, my thoughts were that if I couldn't take control of an out of control magicule, then I could at least keep control if they were already under my control.
Unfortunately it didn't work. As soon as I brought the magicules I was holding near my skin, the disruptive field broke my control apart and the small amount I was holding shot through my muscles like a misfired firework, it hurt, which surprised me. Apparently, even if my body was full of magicules, I could still be damaged by them if they got out of control. There are probably pathways for the magicules to flow, like blood vessels, and the disruption field tossed the marble sized magicule ball I controlled like a shotgun.
Ok, so that didn't work as well. If I wanted to escape, I had to overcome this cage and-... My thoughts were interrupted by something touching my head and then starting to scratch it. I looked over and saw the knight's face next to the cage, again, but this time his hand was through the bars and he was actively scratching my head. Do I look like a pet to you, huh?... Wait, don't answer that. Anyway, could you stop?
"Jeff wasn't kidding, you really do keep staring at nothing for hours, huh?" He said. "Are you someone's pet? Is there a tamer near here?" He asked me, but I just stared at him without moving.
I used the opportunity to use [Magicule Detection] to study what I could of his finger. Whenever I used the skill to look anywhere that wasn't my body, all I could see was a blur of magicules being blended in the field, but if I was right, then as his finger was touching me I would be able to sense his magicules without my senses being blocked by the ambient magicules.
I was right. I could see the bright light of magicules that was pulsing through his finger. That made me sure he was at least several levels above me, and with way more magicules than myself, but what I could also see was that the anti-magic field wasn't disrupting it near as much as it was mine. I thought it was because of the level difference, and it probably is, in great part, but I also noticed how it circled through his finger, and whatever magicule hit it, was dragged along for a few millimeters. There was a small field around his finger with less magicule chaos and more like something resembling an accretion disk.
I paused. I remembered how when I stopped my magicules from flowing, it didn't start up at the same speed it was before I stopped them, it had to pick up speed, but what if it wasn't a coincidence it sped up, instead of returning to a normal flow. If a magicule flow can affect the magicules around it, that would explain how the anti-magic field can break any spells I try to cast so easily, it disrupts the flow of other magicules, making them as chaotic as themselves, so if I manage to make my own flow stronger than the disruptive effect, I could take control of my magicules and possibly cast magic. It was a theory, but I needed to test it anyway.
Eventually the knight got bored of petting me with his finger and moved back to the chair after my lack of reaction to him, which was good as I didn't want him sensing my training. Taking another deep breath, I started. I wrapped my mind over my magicules again, but instead of stopping it like I had done before, I started to let my mind cycle with it, slowly getting used to the way my mind flowed through myself, and then I started to speed up, just a little. I was not holding my magicules but they started to speed up along with my mind.
I was slowly increasing the speed in which I moved my mind, or better call it mental energy? I'll go with mental energy. The faster I moved it, the faster my magicules were accelerated. Honestly, I was glad I wasn't in my true form at the moment, because I would not be able to speed up, or keep my mental energy flowing like this if I had to move it through my wings. I could barely do it with my limbs, so I kept this circling of magicules in my torso and head as it was easier for me to do so.
Where once it was one cycle every minute, now it was around sixty cycles per minute, it was synchronized with my heartbeat, and it wasn't a random chance that it was at that speed. I was consciously trying to follow my own heartbeats as a metronome, and it helped. I also noticed that my magicules near my skin in my torso were less affected by the anti-magic field. But my limbs were the same, as I hadn't cycled my magicules there as it was too hard for me to do at the moment, but even so the natural cycle was a little faster as it was being dragged by the speed I was cycling through my torso.
I would need to keep this speed for a while, to help me maintain it easier and then start making the same things on my limbs.

And apparently I was on the right track doing so.
