"Is the task approaching its end?" Zhou Taifu frowned.

"It seems so," Yu Wen replied, looking up at the teaching building in front of her, a hint of unease flickering across her face. "We're killing people right under their noses, and no one is reacting."

Two hours earlier.

Room 404.

"Doctor," the Fatty watched as Jiang Cheng pulled a camera out from under the bed, bewildered. "When did you put that in? I didn't even know."

Jiang Cheng picked up the camera, tapping the screen as he replied, "My bad; next time there's a situation like this, I'll give you a week's notice."

Fatty: "…"

But after spending a long time with Jiang Cheng, the Fatty had developed a remarkable ability to withstand shocks, and he soon wriggled his body closer, undeterred.

"Doctor, when are we leaving?"

"Wait a bit longer."

"Time waits for no one," Fatty said, showing an unusual urgency. He glanced out the window; it was already bright outside, and the other groups had already set off. "Tomorrow midnight is the deadline. If we can't find any clues by then…"

At that moment, Jiang Cheng's body suddenly shook uncontrollably, interrupting Fatty's next words.

Fatty stared at Jiang Cheng, noticing that his complexion had turned a bit unpleasant. "Doctor," he asked with concern, "are you okay?"

After a moment, Jiang Cheng silently put down the camera, his expression returning to normal.

"Fatty," Jiang Cheng slowly said, "I know why no one died yesterday."

The change in topic was abrupt, and Fatty took a while to react. This topic was indeed a bit unsettling. He swallowed hard and asked quietly, "Why?"

Jiang Cheng handed over the camera. Due to the angle of the shot, it could only capture the shoes and lower legs. Fatty frowned, unclear about Jiang Cheng's intent.

Until—

He spotted a pair of sneakers among seven pairs of legs.

The arch of the foot exaggeratedly arched, toes barely touching the ground.

The steps were incredibly light.

"This is…" Fatty tightened his grip on the camera, staring at the screen in disbelief. "Is that Luo Yi?!"

"The person who died yesterday was Luo Yi!" He suddenly realized something, "The Luo Yi now is… is a ghost in disguise!!"

After venting, Fatty immediately looked at Jiang Cheng, who was now deleting segments of the video on the camera.

"You discovered this yesterday, didn't you?" Fatty exclaimed, realizing he had been slow on the uptake. "That's why you were able to sleep so soundly and even take off your clothes—you already knew where the ghost was!"

Jiang Cheng looked up, giving him a knowing glance.

Fatty immediately deflated again.

What he had just said was merely his outburst; in hindsight, it held no real significance.

"Doctor," after a while, Fatty complained, "I'm not as smart as you. Next time you figure something out, could you please let me know discreetly? I spent all night worrying, and my eyes are all red now."

As Jiang Cheng tidied up, putting the camera away in its bag and slinging it over his shoulder, he casually replied, "Two points."

"First, I only guessed last night, and this guess wasn't confirmed until just now."

"Second," Jiang Cheng pulled out a half-eaten chocolate bar and stuffed it into his pocket, then turned around and sighed. "Fatty, think about it—if I had told you the truth last night, do you think you would have been able to sleep?"

Fatty thought it over and realized Jiang Cheng was right.

If he had known a ghost was sleeping next door, he wouldn't have dared to sleep at all; he probably wouldn't even have dared to close his eyes.

Fatty quickly adjusted his mood, putting anything he found useful into his pockets, and said to Jiang Cheng, "Doctor, what's our next plan?"

After all, the ghost had infiltrated their ranks.

Jiang Cheng pondered for a moment before saying, "For now, this ghost shouldn't have had time to deal with us. It's with Zhen Jianren, and they're headed to a place like the equipment center."

Fatty pursed his lips and said, his tone devoid of sadness, "Sounds like our Guardian Brothers are in trouble."

Jiang Cheng had no interest in the man, so he didn't care whether Zhen Jianren lived or died.

He only hoped Zhen Jianren could stall the ghost for a while to buy him some time.

The weather after the rain was nice, though a bit chilly.

Fatty tightened his coat around him, still feeling cold air seeping in through the seams.

Occasionally, a gust of wind would blow, causing a light rain to fall from the trees above.

"Doctor," Fatty followed closely behind Jiang Cheng, their footsteps in sync, moving in a single-file line. "Where are we looking for Director Li?"

"Why do you want to find her?"

Fatty had gotten used to Jiang Cheng's way of thinking and continued, "I get it, Doctor; this is your smokescreen again, right? You're planning to deceive someone again?"

Jiang Cheng let out a dissatisfied "hum."

After a moment, Fatty, slightly conflicted, said, "Doctor, the two guys in room 405 are probably done for, but I think the girl in 406, named Yu Wen, isn't bad. She seems quite upright and even actively shared information with us." He paused, looking up and saying, "I think deceiving her wouldn't make sense. If we could cooperate…"

Jiang Cheng stopped and turned to look at Fatty, making the latter's back feel cold.

"Doctor," Fatty cleared his throat.

"What are you trying to say?"

Jiang Cheng stared at him, his gaze growing more unsettling. Just as Fatty was about to lose his composure, Jiang Cheng asked, "Do you like her?"

Fatty was stunned, taking a long time to recover, feeling somewhat embarrassed. "Doctor, what are you talking about?"

"You don't like her," Jiang Cheng nodded as if confirming something, then continued to ask, "So you know her?"

"No, I don't know her."

"Then you must understand her," Jiang Cheng slightly nodded.

"No, no," Fatty quickly waved his hands. "I didn't say I understand her. This is our first time meeting here. I swear I've never seen her in real life!"

Fatty raised his hand, making a solemn oath.

Jiang Cheng's expression was strange, instinctively making him feel uneasy.

After a few seconds, Jiang Cheng suddenly smiled, reaching out to pat Fatty's shoulder.

Just as Fatty thought everything would be alright, his collar was suddenly yanked forward with great force.

In the next second, Jiang Cheng was staring at him, his dark eyes looking down at him.

"I'm very curious, how do you dare to vouch for someone you don't like, don't know, and don't understand? To even bet your life on it?"

"I want to hear your explanation," Jiang Cheng said, "Fatty."
