Night of the Clan Massacre: Leading the Uchiha to Defect from Konoha!

Chapter 81: Mei Terumi’s Fear!

Late at night.

In a secluded forest.

"Lady Mei Terumi, please have something to eat."

A Kirigakure shinobi walked up to the pensive Mei Terumi, eyes full of admiration.

Mei Terumi snapped out of her thoughts, accepted the food with a faint smile.

"Thank you."

The man's face lit up with joy, and he bowed slightly before saying,

"Lady Mei Terumi, our gains should be enough by now, right?"

Mei Terumi took a light bite, her mind drifting, then nodded slightly.

"They are indeed enough. We should leave this dangerous place."

Lately, Mei Terumi had been hearing rumors about Uchiha Kaede.

Even she, someone feared by Kumogakure, had never feared them in the slightest.

But now…

Thinking of this, Mei Terumi sighed in her heart.

"It's truly unexpected. Kumogakure and Konoha joined forces to attack Uchiha Kaede, yet… they still lost!"

"The Fourth Raikage is dead, and both Tailed Beasts in the village were captured alive by Kaede. He even pressed the Raikage's corpse back to Konoha, and reportedly sold it to them."

"That Uchiha Kaede is far stronger than I expected."

The first time she had heard of Kaede's name was when he led his clan into Konoha.

With his own power, he destroyed the village that had won three Shinobi World Wars. His name was destined to be remembered!

Just days later, he swiftly attacked other shinobi villages, leading his clan to occupy multiple territories.

Later, he invaded the Land of Fire again, easily defeating the forces led by the new Hokage, and even killed the Fourth Hokage!

While Konoha was in panic, he turned his gaze toward Kumogakure.

He conquered the Land of Iron singlehandedly, and the shinobi of the neighboring nation perished at his hands.

Then, he actually faced the combined forces of Kumogakure and Konoha.

The entire shinobi world thought this might be the time to drag Uchiha Kaede down from the altar.

It was a grueling battle…

Yet Kaede defied expectations once more, using a ragtag force that could barely be called an army to kill the Raikage. Less than 40% of Kumogakure's shinobi made it back alive!

This news spread across the entire shinobi world. Kaede now had a new title: God of the Shinobi World!

It was recognition of his power—just like Hashirama Senju sixty years ago—they were both men who could bring a century of peace by themselves.

And Kaede… was only sixteen years old.

Even Mei Terumi, unafraid of facing Kumogakure, couldn't help but tremble at the thought of the Uchiha taking over here.

"He truly is a man whose strength makes one's heart tremble," she murmured.

The man beside her, hearing her praise another man so openly, felt a wave of jealousy.

But remembering Kaede's achievements, he swallowed his protest.

Mei Terumi ignored him and began to ponder the state of the shinobi world.

She sneered inwardly, "Even with someone like Uchiha Kaede—no, even two like him—could they still hold dominance in the shinobi world? Those fools still lingering in the Land of Fire are hopeless. When Kaede becomes unstoppable, let's see if they can protect what's theirs!"

Unfortunately, Kumogakure could hardly protect itself now. And with such a Mizukage… these thoughts could only remain in her mind.

She sighed, face full of exhaustion.

"Finish eating. We'll leave after this. Now's not the time to provoke Uchiha Kaede."

The man nodded and was about to give the order—

"Hm? Where are you going?"

A sudden, chilling voice froze him in place.

"Who?!"

In the next instant, Uchiha Kaede's figure appeared beside Mei Terumi.

Sitting on a rock, he looked at her with an almost amused smile.

"Go on. It's the first time I've heard someone praise me so sincerely."

Mei Terumi's body stiffened.

"You… you're Uchiha Kaede?"

"That's right." Kaede nodded with a smile.

"You've occupied my territory, and now you plan to just leave without paying anything in return?"

Upon hearing him confirm his identity, Mei Terumi instinctively swallowed.

She was irritated with herself—she'd only heard his name, yet never expected to meet him face to face.

"Don't misunderstand. When we first came here, this area was still under Konoha and Kumogakure's control. Once we learned you'd arrived, we immediately prepared to withdraw."

"Is that so?" Kaede smiled faintly.

"But since we've taken over here, whether in the past, present, or future, we must protect the interests of the people here."

"Then we're willing to return all the spoils as compensation," Mei Terumi said in a steady voice.

Kaede chuckled and shook his head.

"Not enough."

Cold sweat beaded on her forehead. He clearly had no intention of letting them go easily.

What now? Fight? But thinking of his record… even if he was alone, the outcome was obvious.

The man beside her couldn't hold back anymore.

"Then what the hell do you want?!"

Hearing this, Mei Terumi's anger flared. At a time like this, he dared to provoke Kaede? Was he trying to get them all killed?

Kaede's smile faded.

"Did I say I was talking to you?"

"Aaah!"

Before Mei Terumi could stop it, her companion's body seized with overwhelming terror at just one glance from Kaede—and then exploded into nothingness.

He struggled for a moment, then lay still, lifeless.

"With just… a look…"

Mei Terumi stared at Kaede in disbelief. She no longer dared to meet his gaze.

Kaede looked at her dismissively. Could he kill her with just a glance as well?

A surge of fear welled up inside her. I can't win, and running would be even more dangerous…

But surprisingly, Kaede didn't kill her.

Instead, his expression softened.

"Let's talk about compensation."

Taking a deep breath, she asked, "What do you want?"

"Well…" Kaede stroked his chin as if in thought.

"Your village isn't stable right now, so as compensation… why not give me the Byakugan you've been keeping as my payment?"

"What?!" Mei Terumi's eyes widened in shock.

Thinking of the history behind that Byakugan, she suppressed her fear and flatly refused,

"No. Anything else we can return, but not that."

Kaede sneered.

"Besides that, do you think there's anything else in Kirigakure that would interest me?"

His eyes swept over her.

"Or… are you planning to offer yourself as compensation?"

Mei Terumi's face burned with embarrassment. Was he really comparing her to a commodity?

Then Kaede's smile vanished.

"All right, since you're not sincere in compensating me, that means you're provoking me."

In an instant, his overwhelming killing intent engulfed the entire forest.
