Chapter 69: White Snake Sage as Nutrition!
Blood — blood everywhere!
This time, the White Snake Sage was truly gravely wounded.
Its blood, thick with rich natural energy, fell like raindrops to the ground.
In an instant, the once lifeless Ryuchi Cave became vibrant with life.
Looking at the White Snake Sage's severed head still struggling, Kaede said calmly:
"Is that all you've got? You haven't really wasted these three thousand years living like a dog, have you?"
"Damn you!" the White Snake Sage howled in pain toward the sky.
The next second, its severed body instantly transformed into countless small snakes that surged back toward its upper half.
In just moments, the White Snake Sage's body was restored.
But this time, its presence was far weaker, and even the natural energy within it was nowhere near as dense as before.
Raising its head high, the White Snake Sage glared at Kaede in fury.
"Don't underestimate me! I am a Sage!"
"Sage?" Kaede sneered.
"With that filthy snake body, you dare call yourself a Sage?"
The White Snake Sage roared back, "You fool! I haven't even used my full strength yet!"
"Sage Art: Inorganic Reincarnation!"
In an instant, the entire Ryuchi Cave shook violently.
Standing atop Susanoo's forehead, Kaede could now see the entirety of Ryuchi Cave.
It was a vast land of dead, barren mountains, with nothing but a void overhead.
Now, those mountains began to tremble and shift, as though they were living fluids, converging together.
In the blink of an eye, several stone giants, each hundreds of meters tall, rose to their feet.
Kaede saw through the technique at a glance.
"Giving life to inanimate matter and controlling it… not a bad ability."
The White Snake Sage ignored him and immediately sent the stone giants to attack.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The giants swung their massive fists toward Susanoo while stomping deep craters into the ground.
Yet Susanoo didn't even budge.
When the stone giants drew close, Susanoo casually smashed their fists to pieces.
Kaede smirked coldly. "A clumsy piece of trash… only good for fighting other trash."
He gripped his sword and drew it.
White light flashed, and in an instant Susanoo's blade sliced clean through a giant's leg.
The next second, the giant exploded into rubble.
"Impossible?!" the White Snake Sage's eyes went wide.
The giants it summoned were not only destroyed in one blow, but the enemy moved with incredible agility!
Slowly, memories from a thousand years ago flooded its mind.
"This… this is the Six Paths brat's Susanoo!"
Back then, the Sage of Six Paths had used Susanoo to defeat the fully formed Ten Tails.
Though that battle had been instigated by the Three Great Holy Lands, they had still been awed by the fight, which lasted for three months.
And now, the White Snake Sage was facing that same terrifying power.
Kaede's Susanoo wasn't yet equal to the Sage of Six Paths', but it was enough to fill the White Snake Sage with dread.
Kaede looked at its frightened face. "Looks like you've run out of tricks. Then die."
He had already seen through this so-called Sage.
Aside from its dense natural energy, it was nothing more than a beast.
Bigger body? His Susanoo was bigger.
Stronger spiritual power? It was useless against Kyōka Suigetsu.
Even if Nagato himself came here, in front of Kaede he would have no choice but to flee.
"That so-called Sage of Six Paths and that toad from Mount Myoboku… they're not much either."
Susanoo stepped forward toward the White Snake Sage.
Fear deepened in its eyes. "No, I can't beat this guy alone!"
"I have to run! I must join forces with Gamamaru and Katsuyu!"
Without a second thought, the White Snake Sage transformed into countless small snakes—
But in the next instant, Susanoo spread its wings and in a flash appeared before it.
Raising the Futsu no Mitama Sword high, Susanoo drove it straight through, pinning the White Snake Sage to the ground.
"Damn it! I can't split apart?!"
Despair flooded over it.
Kaede's strike carried his own natural energy, disrupting the White Snake Sage's internal flow completely.
It could no longer divide itself to escape.
Kaede leapt down from Susanoo's head, landing atop the White Snake Sage.
Raising his right hand high, he said, "Be the first nourishment for my God Tree!"
"Summoning: God Tree!"
Boom!
A massive cloud of smoke erupted, and the sky-darkening God Tree crashed down atop the White Snake Sage.
Roots like spears drove into its body, spreading through it in an instant.
The White Snake Sage screamed in agony.
"Ahhh! Damn you! How do you have the God Tree?!"
"Spare me!"
It could feel its endless natural energy being devoured at a terrifying pace.
At this speed, it would be a dead snake in mere minutes.
In desperation, it begged Kaede, "Don't kill me! Stop the God Tree! I'll be your summoning beast!"
Kaede said flatly, "You're not worthy."
Seeing no hope of survival, the White Snake Sage cursed wildly.
"You damn brat! You'll die horribly! That cursed God Tree will one day turn on you!"
Kaede sneered coldly.
He and the Sage of Six Paths were destined to stand as enemies.
"If he doesn't come for me, I'll go for him someday."
Ignoring the Sage's rants, Kaede closed his eyes, feeling the changes in the God Tree.
The natural energy the White Snake Sage had stored over a thousand years was swallowed whole in moments.
If he could offer up the other two beasts, and harvest the dense natural energy of all three Holy Lands, then…
Even if the God Tree couldn't mature, it would be enough to make his bloodline soar to new heights!
Touching his Eternal Mangekyō, Kaede murmured,
"It's almost time… wait for me, old man Six Paths."
Minutes later, all the natural energy in the White Snake Sage's body was gone.
Without it, its feeble life force was instantly consumed by the God Tree.
A single gust of wind scattered its body to dust.
The God Tree's roots then burrowed into the depths of Ryuchi Cave, greedily draining the natural energy of the entire dimension.
In just a few days, this thousand-year-old Holy Land would be gone forever.
"The White Snake Sage… is dead…"
Orochimaru stared at the God Tree in shock.
Only now did he truly understand Kaede's earlier words.
The power of a ninja… in the vastness of the universe, it was nothing.
As Susanoo faded away, Kaede waved his hand, and Yugito—who he had tossed aside earlier—flew uncontrollably into his arms.
Kaede tapped her forehead. "Trying to run, huh?"
"Looks like when we get back, I'll have to properly teach this little kitten a lesson."
Yugito shut her eyes in despair. She had seen the entire battle.
With such overwhelming power, she knew she would never escape Kaede's control.
Carrying Yugito, Kaede flickered to Orochimaru's side.
"Let's go."
Orochimaru nodded eagerly, his gaze on Kaede burning with admiration.
Whatever heights he reached from here on… it would be thanks to this man.
Just as Kaede was about to leave, he felt like something was missing.
"That's right… those three Snake Princesses…"
