Night of the Clan Massacre: Leading the Uchiha to Defect from Konoha!

Chapter 161: Divine Punishment, The Collapse of the Land of Ancestors

Since they had acted that way,

the Land of Ancestors naturally would not let them go.

"Your bold words are impressive, but it looks like we'll need someone else to deliver the message instead."

After Kaede said this, natural energy instantly transformed into countless wind blades that tore toward the Black Tortoise.

In this era there was no chakra yet.

Faced with such overwhelming power, they had no means of resistance. In the blink of an eye, the Black Tortoise was shredded into fragments by the storm of blades.

Blood and flesh splattered everywhere.

"Ah!"

The emperor of the Land of Ancestors fell to the ground in fright.

This was his first time seeing such an attack.

In just an instant, a living man had been slaughtered into pieces.

The scene was so shocking it made his heart pound.

"You're afraid? Pathetic."

Kaede cast the emperor a look of disgust.

This man truly was worthless.

As for the retainers that the Vermilion Bird and Black Tortoise had brought with them, the moment they saw their lords dead, they didn't dare remain a second longer.

They fled immediately.

"Divine One, if the Land of Ancestors really sends an army against us, what should we do? Should we prepare in advance?"

The emperor asked in panic.

"There's no need. If their army comes, just inform us. Right now you only need to do one thing: summon every citizen, order them to stop what they are doing, and stay inside their homes no matter what happens. The army must also remain on standby. Once I give the command…"

Kaede's eyes glinted coldly.

"Yes!"

The emperor nodded quickly and followed Kaede's instructions.

"You really just order him around like that, even though he treats us as divine beings?"

Kaguya's voice carried a note of curiosity.

Even if faced with gods, a monarch shouldn't be this obedient.

"It's nothing more than a little manipulation. This is still the Land of Ancestors, and we've only just arrived in this world. Calling ourselves gods is one thing, but if they didn't believe it, we'd have to waste energy proving it. But once the ruler is under control, it changes everything. Through him we control the nation, and through the nation, the people."

Kaede's tone was calm.

"Of course, I won't kill him. He'll serve as our puppet. Once this world is truly unified, he'll still sit as the ruler of the Land of Ancestors. When he wakes from this dream, he'll find himself the most powerful man alive. For him, it's like a gift from heaven."

Kaede smiled as he explained.

After all, his Infinite Illusion technique was practically a bug in itself.

Controlling one ordinary man was child's play.

"I see. Now I finally understand why you wanted to establish this kingdom."

Kaguya's eyes softened with realization.

Indeed, starting from the top made everything simpler.

"Next, we deal with the Land of Ancestors' army. For them, it might seem powerful compared to other small nations. But for us, wiping them out will take two or three days at most."

Kaede's smile carried a sharp edge.

"Earlier, when you killed the Vermilion Bird—was it because he insulted me, or because of your plan?"

Kaguya asked quietly.

"Both. I won't allow anyone to belittle you. But more importantly, those names—Vermilion Bird, Black Tortoise, Azure Dragon, White Tiger—they're the names of sacred beasts in legend. For mere insects to claim them is an insult. Ministers? Nobles? In the face of true power, they're nothing."

Kaede's voice was calm but merciless.

"…Regardless, thank you."

Kaguya whispered.

"There's no need for thanks. Aren't we allies?"

Kaede's faint smile held a trace of warmth.

"Yes… that's true."

For a moment, Kaguya looked almost pure and innocent, just as she had in the distant past.

Meanwhile, word of divine beings spread quickly through the Land of Ancestors. Citizens flocked to the capital to worship, though Kaede and Kaguya never once appeared before them. This only added to their mysterious image.

The generals who had seen them in battle refused to reveal their true identities, only saying: "Gods have descended. The time is not yet right to meet them."

And so faith grew stronger with each passing day.

But not everyone celebrated.

The ruler of the Land of Ancestors—those who had once been powerful—now trembled.

Four of his great ministers, the Vermilion Bird, the Black Tortoise, the Azure Dragon, and the White Tiger, were all dead. His army had been annihilated.

The once-mighty Land of Ancestors now teetered on the edge of collapse.

"How could this be?"

The king of the Land of Ancestors could not comprehend it.

Attacking the weak Land of Ancestors should have been effortless. Yet their army had been wiped out in one night.

The few survivors who limped back spoke only of divine punishment.

"They angered the gods," they said. "And so divine punishment descended."

"Damn that emperor—it must be his trickery!"

The king roared in rage, refusing to believe.

If gods truly walked the earth, why would they choose to appear in the weaker Land of Ancestors instead of his?

But his ministers no longer doubted. They had seen the battlefield with their own eyes—mountains of corpses, rivers of blood, and crows circling above.

"Your Majesty, what do we do now?" one asked in a trembling voice.

The king clenched his fists, his voice hoarse with fury. "How many soldiers remain?"

"Only a few thousand… and we cannot move them for now. News of divine punishment has spread, and the surrounding nations are restless. If we act, they may seize the chance to attack."

The ministers bowed their heads in despair.

The once-proud Land of Ancestors was finished.

And atop their palace roof, Kaede stood beside Kaguya, gazing down at the kingdom.

"You brought me here just to listen to their pitiful plotting against the Land of Ancestors?"

Kaguya asked, confused.

"Of course not. I brought you here to take this kingdom for ourselves. Come, let's see what surprises their palace holds. Hopefully, it won't be as pathetic as the other one."

Kaede's smile was faint, but his eyes gleamed.

"You expect too much. Compared to you, both in strength and status, these people are nothing. To demand palaces equal to your power… that's too high a bar."

Kaguya's voice carried a trace of helplessness.

"Perhaps. But maybe I just want to push them to grow stronger."

Kaede chuckled, then turned away.

To him, Kaguya was both tragic and pitiful.

She was powerful, but far too naïve—once betrayed, once sealed away for millennia. Even now, she seemed unaware of her own weaknesses.

But Kaede understood all too well.
