Chapter 114: Do You Want to Be Truly Resurrected?
The last resisting Konoha ninja vanished completely in a sea of flames.
This also meant that Konoha had been erased from existence.
Uchiha Kaede landed on the ground, and Orochimaru instantly appeared beside him.
Licking his lips, Orochimaru said, "Kaede-kun, some Konoha ninja and civilians escaped. Shall we hunt them down now?"
"They ran?" Kaede smirked. "Where could they possibly go? The entire shinobi world belongs to me now!"
Aside from Sunagakure and a few small nations, most of the shinobi world had already fallen into his hands. Once Sunagakure and those small countries were unified under him, with the God Tree's power spreading, it would only be a matter of time before everyone in the shinobi world became his devoted follower.
Where could those Konoha remnants hide?
"Start searching for them," Kaede said softly.
"If they want to live like rats underground, then let them live in constant fear forever."
"Understood!" Orochimaru nodded.
Kaede thought for a moment and added, "Let the others rest for now. We'll head to Sunagakure next. Like with Iwagakure—if they surrender, we spare them. If they resist…"
"Leave no one alive!"
He had no doubts about Orochimaru and the others completing the task. Orochimaru, Mifune, Tsunade, the Three Snake Princesses—so many Kage-level fighters. If they couldn't wipe out a small Sunagakure, what use were they?
Just then, Naruto walked over with Minato.
Naruto looked at Kaede with deep gratitude. "Sensei, I'll leave him to you."
Kaede smiled. "No need to thank me. You're my student, and Konoha was my enemy."
Then he turned his gaze to Minato. "You made a wise decision, and you have a good son."
Minato gave a bitter smile.
He didn't know how to face Kaede—Naruto's teacher, the man his son admired most… yet also the one who had destroyed Konoha. As the Fourth Hokage, how could he feel at ease with such a contradiction?
"Since you sincerely took Naruto as your student, I have no objections," Minato said after a pause. Then he looked at Naruto with a warm expression.
"Naruto, I'm already dead. I should return to the Pure Land. Your mother and I will bless you to have a safe and happy life."
He was about to dispel the Edo Tensei technique himself.
"Wait!" Naruto shouted, stopping him, then turned to Kaede with a pleading look.
Kaede instantly understood and chuckled. "Alright, since you're my student."
Naruto's face lit up—would he finally feel his father's love? From the moment Minato chose not to strike for Konoha's sake, Naruto had accepted him. After all, he was still just a child; how could he not long for his parents' love?
"What's going on?" Minato asked, confused.
Kaede said calmly, "I told you—Naruto is a good son. He just begged me to resurrect you and your wife."
"Resurrect… me and Kushina?" Minato's eyes widened in shock. In over twenty years of life, he had never heard anything so unbelievable.
Kaede didn't explain further. "Spend time with Naruto for now. You can even use Edo Tensei to bring Kushina back—Naruto really wants to meet his mother."
He smiled faintly. To truly bring the dead back, he needed more power. But with the God Tree, that would soon be an effortless task. It could also make up for the regret he had felt in his previous life while watching the anime.
…
Kaede soon appeared before Tsunade, who was still on her way back to the battlefield. Seeing him, she stopped immediately.
"It's done over there," Kaede said with a smile. "I need your help with something."
Tsunade nodded thoughtfully. She felt no sadness over Hiruzen Sarutobi's death—this was perhaps the happiest moment of her life since Nawaki's passing.
"I killed that bastard Danzo—smashed his head in with one punch! I finally avenged Nawaki and my clan!"
Hearing this, Kaede narrowed his eyes. "Danzo… is dead?"
"Killed by me," Tsunade said with satisfaction.
"Is that so?" Kaede smiled faintly. "How many times did you kill him?"
Her expression changed instantly at his words. Could it be… Danzo wasn't dead?
"Just once… I'll go check!" she said quickly.
But Kaede raised a hand to stop her. "No need. If he's really dead, there's nothing to see. If he's alive, he's already far away."
"You've guessed, haven't you?" Tsunade asked.
Kaede shook his head lightly. "Danzo only has one of Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan. When you fought him, did he use it?"
Tsunade shook her head, a sinking feeling in her chest.
"That old fox is crafty," Kaede said, patting her head. "Our clan has a forbidden jutsu called Izanagi—it can rewrite reality for a short time. With a Mangekyō, he could revive completely after you left. Of course, each use destroys one Sharingan."
"Then I'll hunt him down now!" Tsunade's killing intent flared instantly—she wanted nothing more than to tear Danzo apart.
"No rush," Kaede replied. "Some Konoha ninja escaped during the fight. For vermin like them, we don't need to chase them down now. Once I've finished my task, I'll be able to drag them out no matter where they hide. For now, play cat-and-mouse with Orochimaru—keep them in fear forever."
Tsunade nodded, then asked, "Right… you said you needed my help. What is it?"
"I'm going to Shikkotsu Forest," Kaede said.
Her pupils shrank instantly. She knew Ryuchi Cave and Mount Myoboku had already been destroyed by Kaede. Was Shikkotsu Forest next?
Hesitation flickered in her eyes—she didn't want the Great Slug Sage harmed, as the slugs had helped her many times over the years. But she also didn't want to defy Kaede.
He saw right through her thoughts and smiled. "Don't worry. If the Great Slug is smart, I'll allow it to keep some of its kin alive."
"Really?" Tsunade's face lit up. "I'll make sure to speak to it properly!"
