Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 280: Nine Spirit Soul Search Technique

"So we just need to find this Soul Nurturing Grass, right?" Grey asked with a faint smile.

"Yes," Xia Qingyue nodded. "The faster we obtain it, the faster I can return to my peak."

"Perfect." Grey nodded firmly. "I'll arrange everything. We'll get you a massive supply of Soul Nurturing Grass as soon as possible."

As the words left his mouth, Grey was already thinking several steps ahead.

Xia Qingyue regaining her peak strength would solve nearly half of his current problems. Most of the issues he faced right now stemmed from Blue Star's barrier, the restrictions of the planet itself, and the inability to move freely beyond its limits.

If Senior Xia Qingyue managed to unlock her Origin Source once more, they would have a real chance against that monster lurking in the second layer.

She was the true game changer.

No matter the cost, he would obtain the Soul Nurturing Grass for her.

And by helping her recover, he would gain an early foothold into the starry sky.

With that resolved, Grey brought his thoughts back to the original purpose.

"Alright," he said. "I initially came here to ask you for some techniques. I didn't expect our conversation to drag on for this long."

Xia Qingyue rolled her eyes when she heard that.

"You should've said that hours ago."

"We wasted far too much time getting sidetracked."

Grey simply smiled.

After all, the reason they had wasted so much time was obviously him.

And in that case, there was nothing he could really say.

Xia Qingyue then stretched her hands toward Grey.

"Hold on. I'll take you to the library," she said calmly.

Grey followed her instruction without hesitation, reaching out and holding onto her hands immediately.

In the next instant, his vision flickered.

Space shifted.

And he was teleported directly into Xia Qingyue's inner space.

The library appeared exactly as it had the last time Grey visited it in Nova City. The familiar structure and atmosphere remained unchanged. Endless racks filled the area, each lined with runes, scrolls, and condensed technique imprints. The layout was orderly, divided into countless sections, each radiating a distinct aura.

The space surrounding the library was completely white, boundless and silent, giving the entire place an unreal, detached feeling.

This was Xia Qingyue's personal domain.

A space where she stored her most important insights, techniques, and accumulated comprehension. It was also the place where she usually taught Evan, guiding him through cultivation and technique refinement.

Grey took in the surroundings quietly.

Being here again, he could feel it more clearly than before.

This library was not merely a collection of techniques.

It was the crystallization of Xia Qingyue's entire life and path.

One of her powers she could still use.

"Alright." Xia Qingyue waved her hand casually. "Speak. What techniques do you want this time?"

As her words fell, a recliner formed out of thin air beside her. She sat down comfortably, crossing her legs, clearly prepared to listen at length.

"Since I've decided to accompany you, I will naturally honor my promise and help you with whatever I can," she added calmly.

"You're the greatest, Senior Xia!" Grey said enthusiastically.

He paused, then laughed. "If you allowed it, I might've hugged you on the spot. But I don't want to die."

Xia Qingyue coughed lightly when she heard that.

"Get back to the point and stop chatting so much," she said, shooting him a glare.

Grey flashed her a wide grin.

Teasing Xia Qingyue was surprisingly addictive. Each time he did it, he found himself getting bolder than before.

…Was he into older women?

Grey coughed at his own thoughts and quickly refocused. He raised two fingers in front of her.

"Two, Senior Xia Qingyue. I only need two techniques for now."

Truthfully, now that Xia Qingyue was with him, he no longer needed to rush around searching for techniques. If he needed something in the future, he could simply ask her directly.

"Let's hear it," she replied.

"First, I need a Soul Searching technique. Something versatile and easy to use without too many complications," Grey said. "Second, I need a regeneration technique that suits me."

"You want a Soul Searching technique?" Xia Qingyue asked, raising a brow. "What do you need that for?"

Grey shrugged casually. "I need to dig through the minds of the High Order members. They're still hiding like rats. If I want a proper lead, I'll have to extract information related to them and the Abyss directly from their memories."

Xia Qingyue gave a short nod.

Given how scarce high-grade techniques were in this region, it made sense that Grey didn't already possess one. In the starry sky, such abilities were practically standard. Depending on their evolutionary path, second rankers often gained similar skills automatically. Within the Human Federation, Soul Searching was considered a basic operational technique.

"Soul Searching," Xia Qingyue began, "is usually something only powerful espers or immortals can utilize effectively. It generally becomes accessible at the second rank and above, and even then, mostly for espers."

As she spoke, she waved her hand lightly.

Multicolored light burst forth from her palm, spreading through the library. The space stirred to life as runes flickered across countless shelves, reacting to her will.

The next moment, a single rune detached itself and flew toward her.

Xia Qingyue caught it effortlessly between her fingers.

"This one," she said calmly, lifting it slightly.

She observed the rune for a brief moment before handing it over to Grey.

Grey caught it swiftly and immediately probed it with his mental perception.

The name of the technique surfaced in his mind, unfolding layer by layer.

Nine Spirit Soul Search.

The moment the name fully formed, Grey's consciousness sank into the rune.

His expression stilled as he entered a trance, his mind diving deep into the information contained within. Streams of knowledge poured in as the mysteries of the technique gradually revealed themselves. Complex soul structures, probing methods, resistance layers, and extraction pathways aligned themselves naturally in his understanding.

Xia Qingyue continued explaining in the background.

But Grey did not hear a single word.

He was completely absorbed.

Seeing this, Xia Qingyue paused mid sentence.

She fell silent, watching him quietly as the rune's light reflected faintly in his eyes.
