Chapter 159: A special connection (3)
Back above the sky.
"I'm an inferior being!" Orin exclaimed as he kneeled in the air before Grey. "Inferior! Imperfect! There is only one perfection in this world!"
Seeing this, Grey was even more weirded out.
He felt it was a bit too much.
Wasn't this craziness a bit too over the top?
What was so strange about him again?
"Please forgive me." Orin shouted. "Please forgive me for trying to harm you!"
"Please let me live! I just want to live!" he continued shouting.
Grey could no longer take it. He temporarily jammed the connection from the drone immediately and isolated the place with a normal isolation array stored in his spatial ring.
He arrived next to Orin and clutched his mecha armor with one hand.
"What did you see?" Grey asked with raised eyebrows.
He tried to find even an ounce of the information layer current, yet he could not find anything. As Eterna said, it was in a different part of the information layer.
However, instead of replying, Orin had an even more terrified expression.
"Please! Please spare me!" Orin shouted. "I did not do anything!"
"Let me leave this place!" Orin exclaimed.
"It is true! There is only one perfection in this world!" Orin shouted in a frenzy. "Perfection! Everything else is imperfect, even the gods!"
"Huh?" Grey's expression turned serious. "What did you just say?"
However, just then, Grey suddenly felt something shifting.
His halo suddenly trembled as if warning him of something.
Grey's expression changed drastically as he stared at the sky.
The power of heaven!
Heaven had once again descended into this world.
Dark clouds abruptly gathered above the skies of the Ascension Province.
"Eterna, what is happening?" Xia Qingyue asked in surprise. "This... the power of heaven has descended again?!"
"I don't know." Eterna's voice came. "I have tried calculating the possibilities, yet none is giving me a definite answer."
"It is not Grey himself who summoned it either," Eterna added.
Then she paused. Eterna's eyes flickered within the information layer and another possibility formed in her mind.
"It might be here for Orin."
…
Outside the isolation array, Little Hong stared at the sky with a blank look on her face, then a slight frown appeared.
"This is not brother..." Little Hong mumbled under her breath as energy began to crackle violently around her.
"An imposter using brother's powers!" Little Hong mumbled under her breath.
"Where is brother?" Little Hong had a confused expression on her face.
The next moment, she saw golden lightning descending.
She saw that the lightning was aimed directly at the isolation array.
Immediately, Little Hong's expression turned serious.
Her father was there.
Little Hong wasted no time; she flew toward the golden lightning at breakneck speed, but she was one step too late.
What was heaven? It was the natural order that oversaw everything. How could someone at the late stage of second rank casually match its speed?
Buzzt! Boom!
The golden lightning crashed into the isolation formation, immediately crushing it. It did not stop there; after breaking the isolation array, it shot directly toward Orin.
"Sh*t!" Grey cursed upon seeing this.
He felt a terrifying pressure coming from the lightning and believed that if he took this attack head-on, he would perish on the spot.
Gritting his teeth, Grey immediately activated time stop.
He knew this tribulation was here for Orin, but he could not let him die yet, at least not until he knew what Orin had seen in that specific part of the information layer.
However, to his surprise, he realized the tribulation was not stopped at all.
Heaven still surged with power as its energy shone across the area. Everything else was frozen, yet it was not.
"Not good!" Grey's figure flickered out of the spot.
In the next instant, the golden lightning directly descended upon Orin, who was still frozen in time.
Seeing this, Grey gave up, he let go of the time stop, and the lightning strike surged through Orin's mechanical body.
"ARGHHHHHHHH—" A sharp, piercing scream echoed throughout the entire province as Orin crumbled into nothing but dust.
Grey stood there staring at the sky with an enraged expression.
"What is the meaning of this, heaven?" Grey shouted, loud enough for everyone to hear, even without the drone.
"Why did you strike him down? What? Is it something I should not hear about?"
Of course, no reply came; the dark clouds that had appeared like a flash vanished without a trace.
The sky brightened again.
Grey stood there with a frown.
He knew for sure that Orin had seen something related to his nexus energy, or else the heavenly tribulation would not have come.
This incident, Grey would never forget, and not knowing what Orin saw only gnawed at him.
That was when Little Hong arrived next to Grey, and she immediately went up and hugged him.
"Are you okay, Father?" Little Hong asked as she stared at him.
"I'm fine." Grey replied, rubbing Little Hong's head lightly.
He was still not used to having a daughter, but from the looks of it, his daughter genuinely cared about him.
"Father, that was not brother." Little Hong said.
"Huh? Brother?" Grey's expression changed. "What do you mean by brother?"
Little Hong innocently pointed at the sky. "The one in the sky is not brother."
"???" Grey was momentarily stunned.
"You... Little Hong, you don't mean heaven, right?" Grey asked with twitching lips.
"H... Heaven?" Little Hong was confused.
Little Hong shook her head. "I don't know. But the power that eliminated the other guy is from an imposter of brother!"
"Is that so." Grey replied patiently. "Are you sure you are not mistaken, Little Hong?"
"Un." Little Hong nodded. "Little Hong is not wrong."
"I see." Grey chuckled dryly at this.
How great, his daughter had just dropped a bomb on him.
"Apparently, heaven is an imposter and turns out it was a sibling of Little Hong?"
Normally, one would not believe this, but Little Hong did not seem to have the capability to lie and was just an innocent child. She said what she saw.
And his comprehension ability had called her the Axe's consciousness, so he knew she was not ordinary.
Grey thought back to Earth; he had some fair share of knowledge about mythology in his old world, and there was indeed a mention of an axe.
The axe in that mythology was a powerful weapon a god used to separate chaos and create the heavens and earth.
It was a terrifying thought, but what if Little Hong was actually that axe?
However, on the other hand, it made no sense; mythology was just mythology, there was no way it could be real.
Sighing, he turned to Little Hong. "Little Hong, come, let's go. And make sure you don't tell anyone else about this. Okay?"
"Un." Little Hong nodded.
"Good girl." Grey rubbed her head with a smile.
For now, he would put these things at the back of his mind. He would think about it later. For now, it was time to become the city lord of Ashspire City.
Eterna had already settled everything for him, and now with Orin gone, he was officially the city lord.
The announcement should arrive in Ashspire City and the Ascension Province soon.
