Newly Broke Heroine! [Book One Complete, Cozy Fantasy Adventure]

Announcement: Something Witched This Way Slithers...

I guess the secret's out to a few of you who follow my author profile, and probably a few author shoutouts elsewhere. I wrote a new story.

First, don't panic. I am committed to writing the entire series Newly Broke Heroine all the way through to the end, as it is a signed series of at least three books. You guys will not be forgotten, and honestly, many of you have been fantastic supporters of my creative efforts over the past two years that I've been on Royalroad.

Why did I write another story? Honestly, there are a couple of reasons. I burned out earlier in the year from stacking years-long debuffs of IRL/work/pressuring myself too hard and not taking care of myself, and I think my writing suffered. This one I decided I'd write for a different reason: I wrote it for myself, not to add tension but to relieve it, a story I felt a genuine passion for, the further I brainstormed and wrote.

Yes, it was inspired by the monster girl stories that all launched a few months back. I know many of those authors, and we talk regularly. They all happened to launch while I was spinning the wheels in life and recovering mentally, and I jumped on the opportunity to join a second wave of authors writing similar stories after I read several of them. It was a decision that made me fall in love with a series in a way that I hadn't felt since my first series, The Legend of the Luminaires. There's a lot of influences that blended in on this one: my cRPGs of youth like Baldur's Gate and PIllars of Eternity, and other stories that grew on me like Dungeon Crawler Carl, and many of the other monster girl stories that continue to thrive today.

Please, without further ado, I'd like to introduce Neska, a heroine of unlikely origins. She likes witch hats, chicken eggs, and big hugs, and I hope you'll tune in to her journey and the friends she meets along the way!

Hated by humans. Hunted by monsters. Neska will prove that strength comes from more than defeating foes.

Neska Aksen knew early on she was different from other snakes, spending her days giving mice big hugs and reading her witch's tomes in a rustic potion shop. A test ritual unlocked her Interface, revealing this was not, in fact, her first life, but a second chance to combat horrific monsters invading their world.

She soon discovers her Interface grants her the evolutionary powers of monsters and the powers of human Classes, something no one else has accomplished. But her presence doesn't remain unnoticed. Neska and her witch are soon threatened by those who fear Awakened like herself. They flee toward Rivilat Academy of the Awakened, a refuge that shelters and trains others like her. Their goal: to bring the fight against the invaders.

With little to go on but a steadfast determination and powers from both halves of her soul, Neska will have to find allies and gather power to survive in this world, and find a way to stop the monsters once and for all. But the hardest choice of all will be what direction her own soul will pull her toward: humanity, or those they're supposed to be fighting against?

What to Expect:

* Weak to strong FMC with snake evolutions and witch hexes, rituals, and alchemy. * LitRPG adventure with Abilities, Attributes, and Titles. * Logical, knowledge-driven MC that explores her powers creatively, and rallies friends and allies to fight together, undeterred by insurmountable odds. * Battle academy setting, with school life, combat, and interpersonal moments of the MC and the core cast. * Snake hugs.

One tiny addendum: I have 8 chapters up at present, and there are +15 chapters ahead on Patreon if you want more chapters and can't wait. <<<Click here for the page>>>. You get both Neska and Fiona ahead of public release, so if you love the efforts I put into these stories, consider signing up. Even a small, one-time donation helps immensely, and lets me know that my story resonates with people, and that I made someone's day a little more wholesome.
