New World with Four Husbands

Chapter 371: Unexpected quest

[ Main Quest {9}: Breaking the anomalies

A small spawn stone emerges in a certain area due to the magical particles floating in the air— a sign that it was habitable for the monsters, that it was a place where they can start birthing their offspring, and start a family.

However, the beast's presence disrupted the circulation of magical particles in the air and forced new spawn stones to emerge in the area.

With the old and used spawn stone losing its purpose upon getting too close to the sacred beast, it was forced to release the magical particles it consumed since it emerged and let other spawn stones have their fill instead.

The sacred beast's presence can attract monsters because of their body bursting with magical energy and if a monster consumed one, they would evolve.

To stop a new generation of monsters from happening, get rid of these anomalies immediately!

Coco's breath hitched at what she read on the scroll, her eyes widening in surprise and horror.

Her head whisked towards Lukas' direction— who had just woken up and was letting out a yawn as he scratched his stomach, not caring if his shirt was riding up his hips.

Lukas is the sacred beast. Coco thought, her heart pounding against her ribcage.

She has not confirmed it yet, but since Lukas was with them the whole day and night with the spawn stone beside her losing its magic overnight, she just knew that he was indeed the sacred beast the quest scroll was talking about.

However, it was because of him why new spawn stones started to appear in the forest.

Coco groaned, her hand shooting up to her face to rub her fingers against the bridge of her nose, trying to prevent a headache from forming so early in the morning.

"Maybe we shouldn't have stayed overnight." Coco mumbled, making Greinzer look at her with a raised eyebrow.

"What's wrong with you?" The instructor couldn't help, but ask, noticing how tense Coco looked at the moment.

At the same time, Lala started crying over her face, waving her arms in the air frantically, obviously under the impression that their world is doomed.

"There's four spawn stones sitting beside each other!" The garden fairy exclaimed, voice trembling.

Coco released a deep sigh through her mouth and turned to Greinzer, her eyebrows furrowing. "This is a weird question, but can we patrol the area to look for spawn stones?"

Greinzer blinked, not expecting such a question from Coco.

Nonetheless, he nodded his head and shrugged his shoulders. "Be my guest then. I don't have anything to do at the moment anyway."

"We'll have to bring them with us." Coco said, pointing towards the others. "Can't leave my team behind now, can I? Besides, I have a feeling that we will encounter something.. Interesting."

Greinzer, once again, stared at her with a suspicious look in his eyes, but didn't comment further.

He turned away and stayed walking towards the others— she took this chance to face Lala, her eyes narrowing into a glare, but it wasn't pointing at the fairy, more like to the tree lines where she came out from.

"Where did you see the stones?" Coco asked, her voice barely above whisper.

"Just a few meters away from here!" The garden fairy answered, her hand circling around a strand of Coco's hair. "We need to go! Now! There's a human unconscious not too far from the stones!"

"What?" Coco hissed, her feet already moving to run towards the direction Lala was pulling her into.

"Coco? Coco!" Myra called out, perking up when she noticed Coco running to the trees with a sense of urgency, her face losing its color.

At Myra's scream, the others turned to her.

They followed the woman's gaze and saw Coco was running towards the trees, making them feel confused.

"Follow me!" Coco screamed after Myra, barely turning her head over her shoulder to look at them. "Follow Konoha through the woods! Hurry!"

Konoha seemed to understand what Coco had just said and stood up from her spot on the boulder Coco was sitting on a few moments ago, stretching her lithe body and walking over to the group of confused hunters.

"Who's Konoha?" Lukas asked, watching Coco as she disappeared into the trees.

"Her animal companion." Julian answered, letting everyone know the name of Coco's cat. "She told us to follow Konoha and look, she's already waiting for us to follow her."

They turned their head away from Julian and looked at the direction he was looking at, just in time to see Konoha sit on the ground, her eyes turning into slits with her tail flicking behind her.

"She said she wanted to patrol." Greinzer spoke up, catching everyone's attention. "She's probably excited to do so."

"Whatever it is." Myra said and dropped the half empty crate of food to the ground. "It was obvious that she spooked and started running."

"What?" Yura frowned and didn't waste any time walking towards Konoha. "I'll be leaving first then!"

"Leaving without me? I won't let that happen!" Lukas interjected and started walking towards Konoha as well, "What would our leader think if she didn't see me running after she told us to follow her companion? I can't let her think lowly of me, you know!"

"That would be your problem!" Yura said, eyes glued to the fluffy creature.

"Alright, drop everything and let's follow Coco's order." Myra tutted out, eyes glancing at Zuyo who dropped the sleeping bag he was rolling and nodded his head.

The six of them watched as Konoha stood on her hind legs and started jogging her way deeper into the forest, her nose twitching and her pace picking up as she sniffed Coco's scent in the air.

"Why are we running?!" Zuyo complained.

No one managed to answer, but a sight in the distance made the six of them pale— eyes widening in shock.
