New World with Four Husbands

Chapter 282: Storing the bags

Coco slowly made her way to the house of the four husbands, her footsteps light against the ground.

She just left the butchering shop a minute ago and dropped off the poison tiger she caught that morning, then didn't stay more than ten minutes.

She walked by the village gates and saw the guards were already preparing for their departure, but some of them were nowhere to be found so she guessed that they were still waiting for Alithe and Sinclair— maybe they were waiting for her, too.

That's why, she's making her way to get the four mediators.

The garden fairy wasn't with her because Lala stayed behind to accompany Konoha back in her room at the inn and she promised to Lala to pick them up after she picks up the husbands.

Heaving a deep sigh, she strolled across the village.

The village streets were busy with activity as people moved around doing the village's daily tasks, a group of children passed by her, their laughter and chatter breaking the monotony in a cheerful way.

The sun beat down on Coco's back as she walked, beads of sweat forming on her forehead, but she didn't mind, her eyes still fixed on the house in the distance.

Coco reached the house and almost immediately, she could hear a commotion inside.

It sounded like something was going on, the sound of voices raised and movement coming from within, sounding both urgent and mildly annoyed.

Ignoring the noise, Coco still knocked.

The sound was sharp and clear, the knock echoing in the air, causing the commotion inside the house to stop for a few moments before the sound of footsteps approaching the door reached her ears.

The door opened and Alhai appeared on the other side, looking somewhat irritated.

His expression was stern, his eyes narrowing briefly as he took in the sight of Coco at his doorstep, but even in his annoyance, he still managed to remain strikingly beautiful.

"Good afternoon." Coco smiled softly at Alhai, her expression warm and kind.

Alhai, on the other hand, quickly looked away and stepped back, allowing her to enter the house, his gaze remained averted as he retreated, his actions somewhat stiff and formal.

Despite his aversion, he still held the door open for her, and Coco couldn't help, but raised an eyebrow at Alhai's behavior.

Her curiosity piqued, but even if she was confused, she didn't comment on it, and instead focused on walking inside, the sound of her footsteps echoed softly in the room as she passed by him, the door closing behind her with a soft click.

Coco's nose was suddenly filled with the scent of freshly baked bread, the aroma so potent that it brought a small smile to her face.

"Smells delicious." Coco commented, letting the baker know that he did a good job.

Coco inhaled deeply, the smell of freshly baked bread filling her nostrils, not bothering to be discreet about it, then her eyes traveled to the bottom of the staircase, where she spotted a pile of bags neatly stacked on top of one another.

The bags were piled up, their heavy weight evident in their shapes and the way the fabric strained against the contents.

"I'm guessing that's everything all of you will be carrying to the main city?" Coco asked, her attention snapping away from the bags, then landing on Heiren and Zaque.

"Yes..?" Zaque answered and caught her gaze briefly, his eyes flickering with something unreadable before he quickly averted his gaze, "Is it too much? I can leave my other bag if you want."

Coco noticed that Zaque's cheeks were flushed with a hint of color, a pink hue that looked quite good on his skin.

It was a subtle change, but it was noticeable enough to catch her attention, and she found her eyes lingering on his face for a moment before she spoke, her eyebrows furrowed in worry.

"You okay?" Coco stared at Zaque, keeping her gaze at his cheeks, "You look like you're sick."

"What? Me? No! I'm not sick— what makes you think that I'm sick? I'm perfectly fine!" Zaque rambled on, stumbling and stammering on his words as he kept his gaze averted from Coco's.

Is he feeling shy? Coco thought, blinking.

"Cute." The words escaped Coco's mouth before she could think about it before she turned around and walked over to the bags.

Zaque flushed and blushed at Coco's comment, his cheeks reddening at her compliment.

He tried to keep his composure, but the warmth creeping up his neck betrayed his true feelings so instead, he attempted to keep his expression neutral, a small smile playing at the corners of his lips as he looked away from her, his eyes flickering with a mixture of embarrassment and delight.

"Is this all the bags?" Coco asked no one in particular.

"Yes, that's all the bags." Quizen answered, his cheeks puffed out slightly into a pout, his gaze shifting between Coco and Zaque.

Coco let out a hum and crouched down, her hands hovering over the bags.

"What are you doing?" Alhai asked, standing behind Coco.

Coco didn't answer, but the bags shimmering for a brief moment, the fabric fluttering softly as if caught in a breeze was enough to answer Alhai's question.

With a silent whoosh, the bags disappeared into Coco's personal inventory.

Quizen and the others looked shocked, their eyes wide and mouths agape as they had witnessed Coco make the bags disappear into thin air.

The room was filled with disbelief, the mediators still processing what they had just seen.

Coco's gaze shifted towards the table, where she noticed the chocolate sandwiches sitting neatly in a container, with Heiren obviously having just finished making them, a chocolate sandwich still in his hand.

The sandwiches looked delicious and tempting, and seeing it, Coco's eyes lit up with eagerness, a small smile forming on her face at the sight.

"Are we going to eat that later?" Coco asked, unaware at the shock she caused.
