Chapter 386 - One Failed, One Classic
With another infusion of cash and being at what is basically the forward operating base for the local adventurers, Jason decides to look around and find out if there is anything he might want. Instead, he ended up selling more stuff.
The next shop he went into was a more locally based store which dealt with buying and selling parts of less important animals. You, like all the claws, teeth, and feathers Jason had been collecting. Sure, he could have just as easily sold them at the place he sold the axolotl hide. Except here he had more options besides just money. That and they actually use the stuff here instead of shipping everything out to be resold.
Though his decision to sell them at the smaller store was helped along by the fact that except for maybe the owlcelot parts, it wouldn't have sold for more. Not that he directly sold those parts, instead going for actually updating some of his gear. It had been a while and with the new quirks he had picked up he could shop in the bargain bin.
After all, most people like to see some good stat boosts on their equipment even if the effects are where the true power is at. "Number gets bigger" is a lot easier to compare compared to sometimes vague effects. So with the owlcelot claws and feathers, all the random claws and teeth, and 3 gold Jason bought himself a pair of arm guards and a belt. The arm guards even explained why the damn crane was so hard to hurt. And the belt? It was just a common belt. It wasn't even from the bargain bin so much as just being cheap in general.
{Forged Iron Wing Crane Feather Arm Guards
Description: A pair of arm guards made with iron reclaimed from the feathers of an iron wing crane. While the iron is as sturdy as any other, this was overall considered a failed experiment, as using the feathers directly is more beneficial as the forging process used broke the delicate air magic inherent to the feathers. Attempts to fix the broken magic were made but the resulting effects, while interesting, were in the end a failure as well. The only unexplained oddity was that the surface of the iron retained a feather pattern no matter what work was done to it.

Belt of the Prepared Traveler
Description: A very common belt pattern that has been used with basically every type of leather you could imagine and some you can't. This specific one has used leather from a quartz tusk boar.
Grade: Normal Lv20
Effects:
Pockets Forever - Through careful folding and construction, the entire belts structure can be used as a pocket and broken up into almost any number of smaller pockets. This can include an increase in size up to 3x normal via folding out special sections. The effect is enchantment assisted so the pockets never get tangled up when being adjusted.
Lesser Weight Offset - Anything placed fully within a pocket will weigh 5% less for up to 50 Kilograms of weight
Lesser Space Expansion - Space enchantments on the belt provide 5% more space in the pockets
Lesser Compression - Space enchantments on the belt shrink any item fully placed within by 5%
Lesser Preservation - Non-living objects fully within a pocket will age 5% slower
Internal Integrity - The insides of the pockets are twice as sturdy
Internal Piercing Resistance - The insides of the pockets are twice as hard to pierce
Bonuses:
+1 Stamina}
The arm guards were going to be interesting to test, but in the end most of the money ended up going towards the belt. The pattern is so common that some people guess that as many as one in ten people will own one. Not just adventurers, mind you, people in general. Jason had bought the most basic version and even then, it has some pretty intense enchantments on it. Three or four spatial enchantments, a time enchantment, and a couple general material enchantments.
If it wasn't for the fact that they're all simplified to the point of losing all profoundness, this belt would require some silly high skill levels to produce compared to the effects. Even the single point of stamina is carefully designed and part of why the belt is so popular. It isn't much, but while worn, the belt basically unlocks the stat for use so anyone that has to do any traveling on a regular basis will want one.
Besides that, this is only the most basic version. Every aspect can be upgraded and new effects will appear at higher levels, qualities, and depending on the material used. It is even rumored that the original creator skipped the Master skill rank and right to the sixth skill rank when they completed the first true example of the belt.
Suffice it to say, the belt would be of great help to Jason even if the single point of stamina was completely useless. Though if anything, that would make it easier for him in the future. Stamina isn't exactly the easiest stat to boost to the degree that high-level adventurers need. Sure, spatial enchantments are a pain and a half but at least they have one specific concept behind them to work off of. Stamina? You can mix and match so many different concepts and yet still not get to the heart of the matter.
