Chapter 1271  Too Much Sweetness Isn't Good For A Child's Heart

"What happened to Mom?" Elora asked in a low voice, glancing at Anastasia, who had a dazed look on her face.

"Hmmm..." Evan leisurely took a bite of a dish that looked like pizza but tasted like sushi and glanced at Anastasia.

"Your mom is daydreaming," He said lightly, then shifted his gaze to Elora's plate with a thoughtful expression.

Her plate was enormous, about the size of half the dining table, filled with dozens of different dishes.

Then his eyes fell on his own small plate, which was only twice the size of his palm and held only the strange dish that looked like pizza but tasted like sushi and his mouth twitched in annoyance.

'Should I steal something from her plate?' He thought to himself.

When Elora noticed Evan's gaze on her plate, she immediately became alert. Her eyes narrowed suspiciously, and she looked at him warily while chewing her fried egg rice like a squirrel.

Evan, oblivious to her vigilance, moved his hand under the table like a snake, stealthily reaching toward her plate. His goal was clear: grab something good for himself from her treasure trove of food.

'There are so many dishes. There is nothing wrong with taking just one for myself. Besides…' He recalled the reason Elora had so much food in the first place—it was because she had sold him out to Anastasia.

'Since she received all of these dishes because of me, It's only fair that I take one or two dishes as compensation.'

"No!!!"

Just as Evan's hand was about to grab the sweet pudding sitting on the edge of her plate, a scream that could rival a banshee's echoed across the room.

Anastasia, who had been lost in her thoughts snapped back to reality and turned to Elora, looking completely baffled.

She was about to ask what happened, but her eyes fell on Elora clutching Evan's hand, which was dangerously close to the pudding and her expression turned strange.

Looking over at Evan, she noticed the embarrassed look on his face.

"You… You are stealing a child's food?" Anastasia asked, her tone filled with incredulity.

"I…" Evan glanced at Elora's grievance-filled face and felt a twinge of guilt. He wanted to retort that he was only trying to take the pudding to save her teeth from rotting, as sweets were bad for children.

However, he soon remembered that Elora's teeth would remain perfect even if she ate a mountain of sugar. The realization left him momentarily speechless, unsure of what to say.

"Ummm… I was just trying to see if it was too sweet. You know, too much sweetness isn't good for a child's heart," He explained awkwardly.

"..."

Even Elora, who didn't have much worldly knowledge looked at Evan with dead eyes, as if to say, Do you really expect us to believe that nonsense?

Cough.

Evan cleared his throat when he noticed the deadpan stares from both Elora and Anastasia.

Quietly, he pulled back his hand and focused on eating the strange pizza-like dish on his plate.

"It's really good. What kind of fish did you use to make it?" He asked, hoping to change the subject and avoid further embarrassment.

"It's a vegetarian dish made from special plants. There's no fish in it," Anastasia replied flatly, watching him with a neutral expression.

Evan froze for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure and spoke in a surprised tone.

"Really? You must have collected these plants from the Boundless Ocean when you visited the Dragon Islands."

He thought so because these plants really tasted like fish.

Anastasia placed the spoon in her hand down and spoke in a calm voice.

"I collected them from the sand desert a long time ago."

Evan was stunned when he heard this and decided to keep his mouth shut to avoid further embarrassment.

He lowered his head and quietly ate the fish-like plants, which had been assembled in the shape of a pizza but had grown in the desert.

Anastasia observed Evan, who was eating silently and smiled with an amused expression.

Soon, dinner was over. Elora finally offered him a small spoonful of pudding, which made Evan nearly cry with gratitude.

'Although she sold me out to get more food, at least she shared some with me in the end.'

Evan, acting like a simple-minded father, instantly forgave his daughter's betrayal after receiving the tiny spoonful of pudding as a bribe.

Anastasia was speechless as she watched his behaviour. She even used her spiritual senses to carefully scan him, wondering if he had been replaced by someone else.

Only after confirming that his soul fluctuations were normal did she stop her scan and sigh in relief.

'It seems all fathers are fools for their daughters,' She thought to herself, settling beside him.

"You are planning to revive Carla?" She asked, recalling that he had mentioned acquiring the skill to bring people back to life.

"Hmm..." Evan nodded lightly.

Anastasia frowned slightly at his response and asked in confusion, "What about the negative effects of your Balance Weaver skill? Not to mention that it permanently reduces your luck by one percent. The side effect of encountering life-threatening crises daily isn't something anyone can easily handle."

"I know," Evan replied calmly, meeting her gaze. "Although the negative effects are powerful, they are not without merit."

He went on to explain his thoughts, detailing his reasoning behind his decision.

Anastasia listened intently, carefully considering everything he said.

After five full minutes of silence, she finally looked at him and nodded.

"I think it's feasible."

Evan smiled at her approval, reclining back on the sofa with a relaxed expression.

"Let's wait for that old man to settle Velgoth and the other Eldritch creatures. Then we can discuss it with him," He said.

Anastasia nodded, agreeing with his plan. Together, they waited for Sylvan.

Around two hours later, Evan received a message from Sylvan, informing him that he had arranged everything with the Eldritch creatures.

Seeing the message, Evan stood up and turned to Anastasia.

"Let's go."
