Chapter 227: The Crazy Chase and Block!!
After scoring, Thompson's eyes burned with fighting spirit as he punched the air forcefully at the camera and then roared.
His eyes were firm, as if declaring his determination to the entire world, revealing his unyielding attitude completely.
Thompson's performance in the first two games wasn't bad, but the team still lost, which made him very frustrated.
Thompson just wants to vent now!!
Barkley, sitting at the commentary table, leaned slightly forward and said intently, "If the Warriors want to win, Klay is very crucial. He needs to continue to show three-point threats from the perimeter to force the Nuggets to expand their defense; otherwise, it will be very difficult for them."
Barkley still maintains his optimism for the Warriors. He doesn't think the Warriors are done as people say.
The Warriors didn't suffer any injuries, nor did they have any major strategic issues. Their strength should have given them the upper hand.
It's just that the Nuggets played overwhelmingly well in the first two games, which led to this passive situation for them.
Smith chimed in from the side, "Yes, you can't say Klay hasn't performed; it's just that he hasn't exploded on the court yet."
"Offense!"
"Offense!"
The Pepsi Center in Denver was deafeningly noisy.
Nuggets fans were very excited, with emotions running high to the extreme.
Having won two consecutive away games, they were filled with anticipation for tonight's game, with excitement gleaming in their eyes.
Zeng Xingyang dribbled over and precisely hit the ball to Jokic at the free-throw line.
Jokic steadily caught the ball, faced Bogut's defense, and assumed a triple threat stance.
Jokic slightly bent his knees, lowered his center of gravity, and his eyes scanned back and forth between the basket and his teammates, as if contemplating his next offensive move.
Jokic's shooting ability is strong, forcing Bogut to come out and defend. He stretched his arms, leaping high, trying to block Jokic's view.
Meanwhile, Pope was closely watching the situation on the court, and spotted an opportunity.
He quickly ran over to set a pick for Zeng Xingyang, causing Barnes to slow down slightly. Zeng Xingyang seized the opportunity, cutting in diagonally.
Jokic reacted swiftly, flicking his wrist and bounce-passing the ball to Zeng Xingyang.
Zeng Xingyang caught the ball and, without hesitation, drove it straight inside.
Under the basket, Green raised his hand, leaping in place, attempting to block. His eyes were filled with determination, as if telling Zeng Xingyang that this was his territory.
Zeng Xingyang accelerated for a second time towards the rim with the speed of a fierce tiger.
"Don't think about getting inside," Green pushed down with all his might, leaning forward, trying to obstruct Zeng Xingyang's offense.
But Zeng Xingyang jumped higher, stretching out in the air, like an eagle soaring with open wings.
"Bang!"
"Rim!"
"Beep beep!!"
Zeng Xingyang absolutely dominated his opponent, forcefully completing a heavy slam.
It was an and-one after an emphatic dunk. As they landed, Green fell, and Zeng Xingyang also stumbled to the ground, releasing his force in stride.
Zeng Xingyang stood up, roaring at the camera, "They can't stop me!"
Green, right under Zeng Xingyang's feet, was full of reluctance. He quickly got up, wanting to push back, but Grant and Jokic, sharp-eyed and quick-handed, blocked Green.
The Nuggets coaching staff had already devised a protection strategy. Regardless of the conflict, Zeng Xingyang and Jokic were the primary protection targets, and other players had to go over to block the conflict immediately.
"Get him!"
"Get him!!"
"Boo!!"
The fans on-site were emotionally charged, sending crazy boos at Green.
They shouted and cursed loudly, and the atmosphere at the scene was frenzied and heated. Fans loved this kind of tit-for-tat situation as if this was the passion the playoffs should have.
Warriors players also held Green back, and the referee quickly intervened to separate the two.
The game had just started, and the referee only warned both players without imposing further penalties.
Zeng Xingyang stood at the free-throw line, took a deep breath, adjusted his breathing, and hit the bonus free throw steadily.
3 to 5
Warriors' offense.
Curry dribbled to the frontcourt, his eyes quickly scanning the entire court, passing to Green.
Thompson asked for the ball in a low post; he extended his arm, continuously signaling to Green. Green passed the ball over.
Thompson caught the ball and leaned on Harris, probing back and forth with his back. His body slightly swayed, trying to find a breakthrough chance.
Thompson made a realistic fake move to the left, and Harris was deceived, his body involuntarily tilting left. Thompson smoothly spun to the right, his movement fluid and natural.
Thompson gathered the ball for a three-step move, and Grant leapt up, directly swatting at Thompson.
"Slap!"
"Beep beep!!"
The ball hit the rim, but the sound was too loud, and Thompson was also swatted directly to the ground.
The referee immediately blew the whistle.
Grant and Jokic both went over to argue with the referee, their faces anxious, gesticulating constantly, trying to explain to the referee that it wasn't a foul.
Thompson himself felt suffocated; Grant's play seemed more directed at the person, the foul too fierce.
After standing up, Thompson also went to the referee, believing it was a flagrant foul.
Zhang Weiping sat at the commentary table, exclaiming excitedly, "It seems tonight's game is fireworks all around."
Yu Jia nodded in agreement from the side, "That's inevitable. Both sides will fight over each offensive possession."
Zhang Weiping continued, "Neither team wants to lose their momentum."
The Warriors' player meetings set the tone to be tough, to try and cause damage in every possession.
This wasn't for scoring, but to create momentum, to ignite the desire to fight.
The referee wasn't swayed by the players on both sides, maintaining the original ruling.
Thompson calmly made both free throws.
5 to 5.
The Nuggets' offense returns.
Zeng Xingyang dribbled to the frontcourt, passing to Jokic at the right low post.
Jokic felt the immense pressure Bogut brought, and his brows furrowed, body slightly leaning back, trying to shake off Bogut's defense.
He couldn't play one-on-one, so Jokic had to pass the ball out to Pope.
Pope then passed the ball to Zeng Xingyang.
Zeng Xingyang faced Curry's defense at this moment, and without any hesitation, accelerated a step to the right and burst into the lane.
Curry shifted laterally, trying to stop him, his feet moving quickly, attempting to block Zeng Xingyang's path, but he couldn't; Zeng Xingyang was too fast.
"Bang!"
Curry was forcefully knocked away, lost his balance, and fell to the ground.
Zeng Xingyang rushed into the paint, and Barnes' defense came as well.
Barnes quickly attached himself, providing resistance, causing Zeng Xingyang's move to deform and the layup to miss.
However, the referee didn't blow the whistle, and Bogut got the rebound.
Bogut quickly passed the ball to Curry.
Curry was in a great position, left open on one side.
Curry initiated a fast break.
Zeng Xingyang didn't have time to complain but quickly chased back, his steps flying.
Curry's dribble attack was swift, but Harris had returned to his position early. Curry couldn't shoulder his way through like this, so he passed the ball to Thompson, coming in from the other side.
Thompson caught the ball, and Harris's defensive rhythm couldn't keep up.
Thompson stepped and rose to attempt a dunk, leaping high with his arm fully extended, the basketball soaring high in his grip.
But Zeng Xingyang returned from behind.
Behind Thompson, Zeng Xingyang used an even more exaggerated bounce and speed, completely suppressing Thompson, sealing off his dunk space.
"Slap!"
Completed a powerful block, and the ball bounced off Thompson and out of bounds.
