Chapter 258: | 258 | The Clash of the God and the Dragon
Somewhere within the sea region of Terra, Abraham stood upon a lone island, his eyes gazing onward towards a beautiful lady with silver hair and radiant golden eyes. She was his wife, Laplace, also known as the Dragon of Liberation. As he stared at her, she was doing the same at him, maintaining her playful smile. It has been a while since her husband called her into a forest.
"What are we doing here in the middle of nowhere, my love." Tilting her head, Laplace calmly asked while her golden eyes shimmered with a tinge of brilliance. Abraham straightened his back and responded with some confidence. "It has been a while since our last duel, how about we go at it, Laplace?"
When she had heard of his preposition, a light chuckle escaped her. Her eyes remained at him as she uttered with intrigue. "You must have gotten something that made you powerful. I wonder what it may be. But I guess it can be answered upon during our duel." Laplace stretched her limbs upward, remaining calm amidst the silence.
"So, how shall we go about it, my love? Would you like a gradual escalation? Or shall we go all out right at the beginning?" Laplace softly asked the middle-aged man with a seductive smile. It was difficult to not get excited at the thought of fighting her husband who appeared to be growing stronger by the moment.
"We can go all out without holding anything back. I'll be able to handle whatever you'll throw at me." Abraham grinned, his confidence unrivalled. Most would have thought of his confidence as unfounded, but the dragoness knew more than to underestimate her husband.
"Alright, my love. I'll gobble you with everything I have." A golden streak of lightning covered her body while her golden eyes gleamed with unparalleled radiance. Her body soon levitated from the ground as a black cloud enveloped the heavens above like a storm. Golden thunderbolts deafeningly blasted out from the heavens, making charred craters from the ground.
A gargantuan black eastern dragon escaped the cover of the unfolding storm. Its length over ten kilometers with its body approximately being 500 meters in diameter. The monstrous entity before him was the Dragon of Liberation, a deity revered and feared by many. One would have felt fear upon gazing at such a sight, yet his pounding heart told otherwise.
Abraham was excited, no fear resided within him as the mere thought of fighting the Dragon of Liberation once again brought him delight. Their last battle within a fallen country somewhere within the Frontier was merely him barely surviving her most basic attacks. If the dragoness had fought against him with every she had, he wouldn't stand a moment alive.
But now was different.
He had a fighting chance against the Dragon of Liberation. With his newly-gained personal power, the One Above The Heavens. No being would be able to stop him, not even the dragoness above. However, it was time to test such remarks. He must defeat the Dragon of Liberation, and for the first time, win against his wife.
"It's time." Abraham muttered to himself while the massive golden serpentine eyes of the Dragon of Liberation lay its gaze upon him. The blackened clouds above Abraham cleared up with the radiance of sunlight piercing through the vast storm, illuminating his body through its brilliance.
The surrounding area slowly burned as the temperature increased into thousands of degrees. Even the ground where the middle-aged man stood was beginning to melt. Nevertheless, Abraham didn't appear to be affected by the heat as a golden light soon covered his body ablaze. The Dragon of Liberation gazed at its husband with interest. After all, like it, Abraham was transforming into another form.
As Abraham transformed into the Sun God - Solaris, the surrounding area burned into ashes, leaving kilometers of land devoid of anything but ash and the melted ground. An golden, thick armor soon covered his body while his head wore a radiant golden great helm. It wasn't only his appearance that changed, his size grew into a much larger size.
The transformation didn't take too long as the Dragon of Liberation remarked with the same intrigue as before. "It appears that you have gotten much more stronger, my love. No wonder you seem to be confident in asking a duel against me." The one in front of the dragon was a colossal knight clad in golden armor. He was over 50 meters tall, though small, much bigger than his former size.
"Let's begin, Laplace!" Abraham pointed the Spear of Sol at the Dragon of Liberation, ready to clash against her with all their might. In mere moments, thunderous lightning bolts rained down from the stormy heavens destroying everything in its wake. The thousands of golden thunderbolts were heading towards Solaris.
"Let there be the sun..." Pointing the Spear of Sol forward, emerging from its tip was a miniature sun that burned with radiance and heat. Solaris then turned his spear upward, propelling the sun towards the vast storm that had blackened out the heavens above him. As the miniature sun met the storm, its unparalleled heat dissipated the rumbling clouds, giving way for the clear skies.
The island where the Dragon of Liberation and the Sun God stood was separated into two climates. The stormy and thunderous within the east, and the clear sunny, yet inferno-like west. It was the power and authority of the two that had given change to the island. And it had merely begun.
The Sun God sprinted forward its radiant golden armor flickering with light. The Dragon of Liberation opened its jaw as a beam of destruction escaped its mouth. The light that had escaped the dragon was blinding, but the Sun God merely swung his spear upward, deflecting the breath of destruction that would have punched a hole within the island.
The attack landed upon the seas, followed with the sun rising from the horizon once again. The shockwave pushed onward, reaching the clashing giants with a deafening explosion.
*BOOM!!!!*
The Sun God paid the explosion no heed and threw a sun towards the Dragon of Liberation. Not daring to underestimate her husband, the dragon dodged the sun and slithered forward, intending to gobble Solaris whole. As said before, she was planning to gobble her husband. It wasn't the first time she had done such thing, and it wouldn't be the last time.
He sidestepped and barely dodged the head of the Dragon of Liberation. Without a tinge of hesitation and delay, he punched the body of the dragon, which flinched upon impact. *BAM!!!* A thunderous sound rang out as the scales of the dragoness wasn't to be underestimated. It would need more then a punch to puncture through it.
However, the Sun God couldn't throw another punch as the Dragon of Liberation swiped the knight from the ground, throwing him upward into the skies. With him suspended over the heavens, victory was likely for the dragon as there was nothing stopping her from devouring Solaris whole.
But he wasn't planning to surrender without a fight. Explore stories on empire
Using the Spear of Sol, he channeled the very power of the sun and pointed it towards the Dragon of Liberation below him. "The Harbinger of Creation and Destruction, Let the Ignorant know of your Authority over the Heavens... Sol Melius!"
The miniature sun before his spear rapidly grew in size, immediately gaining the diameter of a kilometer. It gleamed with eternal radiance as though a second sun had landed upon the world. Everything below it was burning, the island slowly sunk, while the sea surrounded it boiled. But the Dragon of Liberation remained calm.
The Dragon's Jaw opened as numerous spell circles surrounded its body. These spell circles rotated around her head as their runic symbols slowly illuminated with brilliance. Within its mouth was a powerful breath that could destroy islands with ease. It was something that she had held back for a long time, but now... It was time for it to be seen throughout the world.
As the spell circles continued spinning, the golden sun slowly descended from the heavens, steadily falling towards the burning and sinking island. The Dragon of Liberation could finally feel heat for the first time within her jaw. It has been a while since she had thrown everything out towards an adversary. And to think that the one who would be able to do it first was her husband.
In an instant, a beam of light escaped her jaw while the spell circles followed suit. The name of the spell was fairly simple. It was called the Mass Replication Spell. It has the ability to replicate anything, even the beams of light that would escape her mouth. As such, with thousands of spell circles, thousands of destructive beams would be released to the wider world.
As the destructive attacks of the Dragon of Liberation and the Sun God faced against one another, the world lost its color. In a mere moment, reality had become only black and white. There was no explosion that followed, no shockwaves, and no sound. It was as though zero had divided itself, which was impossible.
Because of the interaction between the two, the destructive power that should have been amplified upon contact became undefined. Before the gaze of the Dragon of Liberation and the Sun God, the massive beam of light and the vast golden sun disappeared within a span of a nanosecond.
Abraham returned to his normal form, but kept the Spear of Sol in-between his fingers. The Dragon of Liberation had already disappeared, replaced by the dragoness who gazed upon him with a smirk plastered over her face.
While their attacks were ineffective, the battle was far from over.
