37: Still a Familiar Feeling
After seeing Kakashi disappear
without explaining a word, the others were fine, but Sakura was left in shock.
How could he do this?! What does he mean by 'the last mission'? Sensei Kakashi,
you need to explain clearly before leaving! Sakura felt an indescribable
depression and even a bit of collapse. She really didn't expect their guiding
ninja to be such an unreliable person. Was there really no problem with the
future of Team 7? Would it be bleak?
"Brother Kakashi, this
guy!" Naruto said, gnashing his teeth. However, he had long been
accustomed to Kakashi's personality. Making him serious was harder than
climbing to the sky.
So, the question now was whether to
go to the second training ground at five o'clock tomorrow. According to
Naruto's understanding of Kakashi, this guy was definitely late for several
hours in most things! Of course, important matters such as missions and Hokage
summons would not be vague from this point of view.
"Tomorrow should be fine,
right?" Naruto muttered.
"Eh? Naruto-kun, what did you
say just now?" Haruno Sakura turned her head and looked at Naruto with a
puzzled look.
"What I mean is, Kakashi is a
habitual latecomer, just like today. I wonder if he will deliberately make us
wait for a long time at the same place for tomorrow's meeting!" Naruto
said with a tangled look.
"Eh? Really!?" Sakura's
eyes widened instantly at Naruto's words. Sasuke, who had already stood up,
frowned simultaneously.
"But no matter what, we have to
gather at five o'clock, right? After all, this is an order from our sensei.
Don't forget that we are no longer academy students but formal ninjas!"
Menma said calmly.
Menma was too familiar with this
part of the original story. Kakashi was not late at all these two times. He
arrived early and had been hiding on the side, observing them secretly. This
was Kakashi's first real test for Team 7. So, whether he was late or not, Menma
wouldn't consider this aspect. But for breakfast, there was no need to listen
to Kakashi. Eat when you should, drink when you should, and don't let yourself
down!
When Menma said this, Sasuke and
Naruto were startled at first, then nodded slowly. Only Sakura was still a
little slow to react, but she nodded in agreement as if she understood.
"Well, tomorrow is very
important after all, and Brother Kakashi should not be late!" Naruto said
with a smile.
"Hey,
this seems like a good time. How about the four of us go out for dinner
together? We can celebrate the establishment of Team 7," Naruto suggested,
his eyes shifting between Sasuke and Menma.
Haruno Sakura brightened up and looked at Menma and Sasuke
with hope, especially the latter.
"No, I won't go. I have other things to do,"
Sasuke said calmly, shaking his head decisively.
"Swoosh!" He jumped directly from the roof, along
the eaves, and quickly left.
"Well, there will be plenty of time in the future.
Let's skip it for today. Sorry, Naruto, Sakura," Menma smiled and shook
his head, then bowed slightly. Without giving Naruto a chance to say a second
word, he left the original place and returned home.
"Hey..." Looking at Menma and Sasuke disappearing
in an instant, Naruto put his hands on his hips, showing a helpless look. This
wasn't the first time. Didn't Menma and Sasuke skip the last graduation dinner?
"Those
two are so unsociable. There will be plenty of time for bonding in the future,
really!" Naruto said, a hint of frustration in his voice.
"Then there's no way, Sakura. If they don't go, it
would be weird if we went, so let's wait for the next time, Sakura!"
Naruto turned to Haruno Sakura.
"Well, I can do it!" Although Sakura felt very
sorry and was already yelling in frustration in her heart, she still tried to
put on a ladylike expression and nodded.
"See you tomorrow!" Naruto smiled and waved at
Sakura.
"Swoosh!" He also flashed and flew down from the
roof, heading in a different direction from the others.
Watching Naruto leave, Haruno Sakura's face fell instantly.
This should have been a happy and blissful day! But why did she feel so empty
now?
'No, Haruno Sakura, you must cheer up. This is only the
first day. You are a capable child! Yes! You must cheer up!' Sakura patted her
cheeks with both hands to encourage herself. Finally, after taking a deep look
in the direction Sasuke, Naruto, and Menma left, Haruno Sakura took a deep
breath, clenched her fists, waved them twice, and then turned to leave the
academy.
This was still a calm plot development. At present, it was
hard to say whether it was good or bad, but for Menma, no accidents were the
best thing.
'The next step is to enter the real countdown!' Menma
thought silently.
The next day, at 4:20 in the morning, Menma got up from bed
on time. After a simple wash and breakfast, he set off for the second training
ground. When Menma arrived, there were still a few minutes before the agreed
time, but Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura had already arrived one step earlier.
Sasuke's appearance was indifferent, but Naruto and Sakura seemed a little
depressed.
"Oh! Menma, good morning!" Naruto gathered his
energy and greeted him.
"Good morning, Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke!" Menma
smiled faintly and greeted them.
"Good morning, Menma-kun!" Sakura seemed to wake
up from her drowsy state immediately, gently lifted her hair, and replied.
Sasuke, leaning against the tree trunk, nodded lightly with an indifferent look
in response.
