Chapter 461: Chapter 461: The Only Target - Nagato Summons the Gedo Mazo!
After Jiraiya finished speaking, he turned his attention to Reiki, who seemed lost in thought.
Following Jiraiya's gaze, everyone else looked at Reiki as well.
Although they weren't sure why Jiraiya was staring at Reiki...
"What?"
"What are you all looking at me for?"
Reiki wasn't spacing out but instead reviewing his own thoughts and strategies. He was mentally organizing resources and calculating potential moves, all while ensuring he was prepared for what lay ahead.
After all, his purpose for being here wasn't to attack the Hidden Rain Village. With Tsunade and Jiraiya present, he didn't need to voice too many opinions. He only needed to wait for his intended encounter.
But now, all eyes were on him!
Did they expect him to make the call?
"Reiki, tell us what you think," Jiraiya said firmly.
"What's the best course of action in this situation? If we don't solve the problem soon, it could have far-reaching consequences. Wouldn't it also affect the plans you mentioned earlier?"
Jiraiya's sudden questioning caught Reiki off guard.
Alright! You've said so much, but I still don't know what you're specifically referring to…
"You mean about the Hidden Rain Village and the Kara Organization?" Reiki asked after a brief pause, attempting to clarify the context.
"Exactly."
"It seems you already have an idea. Let's hear it," Tsunade added.
Reiki nodded, gathering his thoughts.
"As for the Hidden Rain Village, it's clear Hanzo is the source of the trouble," Reiki began. "Why he's behaving this way? Probably some sort of mental breakdown."
"As for the Kara Organization, my stance hasn't changed. We wait for them to show themselves."
He shrugged and continued, "With Konoha's current strength and influence, Hanzo the Salamander doesn't stand a chance if he's looking for trouble. It's better to eliminate him and move forward. Besides, Yahiko and the others—who were trained by Jiraiya—are well-positioned to take over the Hidden Rain Village. Let them handle it."
"As for the Kara Organization, Ishiki seems to be playing the waiting game. He's likely gauging our actions. The more ambiguous Konoha's stance, the longer he will hold back. So why overthink this? Let's focus on what's in front of us—deal with Hanzo swiftly!"
Although this was Reiki's internal thought process, he didn't say it so bluntly.
"Um..."
"Alright, Reiki has made his point. Let's continue the discussion," Tsunade interjected, cutting the conversation short.
It was clear she didn't want to dwell on Reiki's straightforward commentary.
"Teacher, I'm going to do some exercise," Reiki said abruptly, standing up.
"Shisui, Nozuki, are you coming with me?"
"No, you go ahead," Shisui replied. Nozuki also declined, explaining, "We'll stay here to take notes."
The two of them believed these discussions offered valuable insights and could help improve their future decision-making.
Left with no choice, Reiki left the room to train on his own.
Soon, Reiki found himself sitting on a boulder in the Land of Rain, waiting for his next meeting.
"Are you waiting for us?"
A few hours later, Yahiko's voice broke through the sound of falling rain. Beside him stood Konan and Nagato.
"That's right," Reiki replied with a smile. "But it's Lord Jiraiya who's waiting for you. I, on the other hand, have something I need to discuss with Nagato."
"Nagato?" Yahiko raised an eyebrow but didn't object. "Alright. Nagato, you stay with Reiki. I'll go find the teacher. Catch up with us when you're done."
Yahiko trusted Reiki. Ever since the Chunin Exams, Yahiko had been following his progress. Despite their lack of direct contact, Yahiko admired Reiki's contributions to Konoha.
Once Yahiko left, Nagato turned to Reiki, clearly puzzled.
"You wanted to talk to me? Why?"
Reiki's expression turned serious. "It's about your Rinnegan."
"My Rinnegan?" Nagato's confusion deepened. "These eyes aren't originally mine. Although I can use them, I don't know how they could be of use to you."
Nagato didn't suspect Reiki of trying to take the Rinnegan. After all, he already knew their origin—they once belonged to Uchiha Madara.
"Your Rinnegan should allow you to summon the Gedo Mazo, right?" Reiki asked directly.
Nagato nodded. "Yes, but what would you need it for?"
"The Gedo Mazo can help me locate someone," Reiki explained without hesitation. He then began taking out various potions from his storage space.
Nagato stared at the potions, recognizing their significance just from the labels.
"Here," Reiki said. "These potions will restore the life force and stamina you expend in summoning the Gedo Mazo. The extras are a token of gratitude for your help."
Nagato considered for a moment before agreeing. "Alright."
He formed a series of hand seals, and moments later, the monstrous and intimidating Gedo Mazo appeared behind him.
As the statue loomed, Reiki stepped forward and placed a hand on its surface.
"Nagato, drink the potion now. Protect me while I'm unconscious—I'll be back soon," Reiki instructed.
Energy surged from Reiki's body into the Gedo Mazo, activating its powers. A crack appeared on the statue's forehead, and in the next instant, Reiki collapsed into unconsciousness.
Nagato stood guard, unsure of what was about to unfold but determined to protect his ally.
