Chapter 358: Opening Up, Countdown to the Tenseigan

Both Nagato and Konan knew that in recent years, Haneda had seemingly done little in the ninja world.

His only notable actions were two interventions: one in Kirigakure, where he helped the Fifth Mizukage take power and abolish the Bloody Mist era, and the other in the Land of Rain.

Nagato and Konan were well aware of these events, so there was no need for further discussion.

However, it was impossible for Haneda to have done nothing during this time.

While he had organized many operations within the Land of Fire, they mostly focused on civilians and ordinary ninjas, with little involving himself.

Haneda spoke calmly: "The eye on my forehead is called the Tenseigan. It comes from the moon and is the ultimate awakening of the Byakugan."

"Tenseigan?!" Pain instinctively associated the Tenseigan with the Rinnegan.

The terms "reincarnation" and "rebirth" carried profound significance, and in ancient lore, both were linked to the Pure Land.

Considering that the chakra and ocular power of the Tenseigan were comparable to the Rinnegan, Pain surmised that the Tenseigan might also be a Sage's eye.

As if confirming Pain's speculation, Haneda explained:

"Through my long research, I've found that the Uchiha, Senju, and Uzumaki all share a common ancestor—the Sage of Six Paths."

"The Sage of Six Paths had a younger brother, Ōtsutsuki Hamura, from whom the Hyūga and Kaguya clans are believed to descend."

"Like the Sage of Six Paths, Hamura also possessed a Sage's eye and Sage's body: the Byakugan and the Shikotsumyaku."

"I can't confirm whether Hamura ever awakened the Tenseigan—there's little recorded about him in the ancient texts—but it's likely he did."

"In other words, the Tenseigan and Rinnegan are equivalent, both belonging to the Sage's lineage."

"And with this eye, I am more than capable of standing against Uchiha Madara—or any other village."

As he spoke, Haneda summoned a Truth-Seeking Orb, which floated steadily above his right hand.

"Nagato, you should know what this is, right?"

Pain nodded. When he used Chibaku Tensei, he had seen a similar black sphere. This sphere was likely the Truth-Seeking Orb.

Haneda continued: "The Truth-Seeking Orb belongs to the Bloodline Net, combining the powers of all five chakra natures along with Yin-Yang Release. Its explosive power far exceeds that of a Tailed Beast Bomb."

"A Tailed Beast Bomb only contains Yin-Yang Release."

"And the Truth-Seeking Orb is merely one of the Tenseigan's most basic abilities."

"In the past, a Tenseigan user severed the moon itself using its power."

"Yes, severed—as easily as slicing an apple in half with a knife."

"You should understand the implications of such power."

Pain and Konan's jaws dropped in disbelief. They could comprehend Haneda's strength, but the Tenseigan…

It felt as though it belonged in a science fiction tale about aliens—it was utterly absurd.

Was Haneda even still human?

How could an eye of such power exist?

Pain spoke after a moment of shock: "I see now. You don't intend to use your personal strength to completely subjugate the other nations in this war."

"Instead, you want other nations to witness the power of unity, the power of the Will of Fire, and instill fear of our alliance into their hearts—not just fear of Haneda himself."

"You also want to use the war to achieve specific goals, to win the hearts of the other nations' people and have them willingly embrace the unified order."

"War is merely a means of unification—a way to quickly destroy the old system with violence, then build a new nation through collective will."

"This will create lasting peace and happiness."

Haneda silently withdrew the Tenseigan's power, reactivating the Yang Seal.

It was true that he had such thoughts, but what he really wanted to express was simpler:

He wanted to reassure them that he had the ability to handle Madara. Leave Madara to him.

However, Haneda's next statement caused Pain to overanalyze, somehow arriving at a conclusion that was both unexpected and strangely accurate.

Haneda said, "I forgot to mention one bit of bad news earlier."

"Although I've awakened the Tenseigan, I haven't fully mastered it yet."

"I'll need another two to three years."

"During this time, I can't fully unleash my power—it's like eating a meal that hasn't been digested yet. Strenuous activity isn't an option."

"Until I've completely mastered the Tenseigan, I won't start the war. For now, I'm only preparing for it."

Pain nodded. "I understand. While Konan and I have been preparing six trillion explosive tags, you've been making your own preparations."

"I see now. Konan and I will lay low during this time and avoid provoking Madara unnecessarily."

"I'll also try to persuade Madara to lead the Akatsuki and the Hidden Rain into participating in the Fourth Great Ninja War."

Konan added, "Haneda, those six trillion explosive tags… If the war needs them, I can…"

Haneda waved his hand dismissively. "No need. Keep them as a trump card—for Madara."

The Madara Haneda referred to, of course, was not Obito but the real Madara.

He and Nagato had been talking for a long time.

Haneda suddenly asked the air, "Where are Kakashi and Afei right now?"

As soon as he finished speaking, a ninja wearing a cat mask appeared before him.

Pain and Konan immediately recognized the individual by their aura—Uchiha Itachi.

Itachi reported, "Hokage-sama, Kakashi-sama and Tobi have already left the Memorial Stone and are on their way here. They should arrive at the Hokage building in about fifteen minutes."

Haneda nodded slightly. "I was just chatting casually with my two friends earlier. It's not official business—you don't need to address me by my title."

Itachi's lips twitched. As Haneda's "personal bodyguard," it wasn't as if he hadn't overheard their conversation.

Tenseigan, the Fourth Great Ninja War…

Itachi replied respectfully, "When I wear the mask, I'm an ANBU operative, Hokage-sama."

Haneda's face darkened. "Understood. Dismissed."

With that, Haneda turned back to Pain and Konan, sighing.

"I originally wanted to have my nephew introduce himself… Ah, forget it."

Pain said, "I've heard of him. Like Shisui of the Body Flicker, he's an exceptional ninja."

"Haneda, Tobi is almost here. Let's get down to business after that."
