Chapter 245: Convincing Tsunade to Return to the Village
Late at night, at the Memorial Stone.
Kakashi stood in front of Obito's grave, replacing the wilted flowers in the vase with fresh ones.
"Haneda is now the Hokage, the Fifth Hokage."
"His face will be carved on the Hokage Rock, and his Sharingan will be engraved handsomely as part of it."
"Haneda will use those imposing eyes of his to deter anyone who dares start a war."
"The village will remain peaceful, and no one will have to die because of war ever again."
Kakashi smiled as he spoke, but his eyes were slightly misty, as if something had gotten into them.
After tidying Obito's grave, Kakashi silently stood there for a long time.
What Kakashi didn't realize was that a pair of eyes had been watching him, as always.
Only after Kakashi left did the figure step out from behind a tree and some bushes.
It was a mysterious man wearing a tiger-striped mask and a black cloak with red clouds—it was Obito.
He approached the grave and grabbed the flowers Kakashi had just placed in the vase, tossing them aside.
"Someone who couldn't protect what was important—what's the point of mourning day after day?"
Obito flung the flowers away and raised his head to gaze at the Hokage Rock.
He knew that soon, next to his sensei Minato's carving, a new face would be added.
And that face would be his best friend, Uchiha Haneda.
"I will end this hell in my own way."
"In the new world I create, everyone will live happily, and there will be everlasting peace."
Suddenly, Obito sensed something.
Just as he was about to use his intangibility ability to leave, he stopped.
An orange cat padded gracefully toward him, hopping along before stopping right in front of him.
"This is a letter for you from Haneda," said the cat, Kojū, tilting its head upward.
Obito crouched down, took the letter, and unfolded it to read carefully.
When he got to the last line, his previously calm expression broke into a faint smile.
"Go back and tell Haneda, 'the pot calling the kettle black.' He'll understand what I mean."
Kojū looked up at him with expectant eyes, glancing repeatedly at Obito's face. Obito, noticing this, asked curiously, "Why are you still here?"
"Where's my promised payment? Hmm?"
Obito's Kamui dimension wasn't exactly a fish-friendly place. Scratching the back of his head awkwardly, he used Kamui to teleport away.
But before leaving, he said, "Go back to Haneda and ask him for double."
Kojū immediately realized what he meant and leaped toward Obito angrily, only to land in thin air.
"Damn it! I'll only get one portion of dried fish now… Waaaah!"
...
The following morning, Haneda officially took over as the Fifth Hokage. The letter to the Daimyō, which Shikaku had written the previous night, was carefully transcribed by Haneda without any changes and handed to the Anbu for delivery.
The letter itself was just a polite excuse to summon the Daimyō to Konoha. Haneda planned to reveal his true intentions to the world when the Daimyō arrived.
After taking care of this, Haneda began preparations to bring Tsunade back to the village.
Once her location was confirmed, Haneda handed over all the village affairs to Kakashi and Shikaku. He had no intention of being like the Seventh Hokage, micromanaging everything until even shadow clones couldn't keep up with the workload.
In the skies over Konoha, a streak of blue lightning shot across like a meteor.
In just an hour, Haneda had crossed half of the Land of Fire and arrived in the Land of Hot Water, where Tsunade was staying.
Using his Kagura's Mind Eye, Haneda instantly pinpointed Tsunade's location within a radius of several dozen kilometers.
A bolt of lightning descended from the sky, and Tsunade, startled, turned to see Haneda suddenly appear before her.
"You're… that naturally evil Uchiha brat?"
"What naturally evil? I'm the naturally kind and noble Uchiha hero your granduncle always spoke highly of!"
Ignoring the curious gazes from people in the tavern, Haneda sat down across from Tsunade.
"Tsk tsk~ You've grown so much in just a few years, kid. Handsome and stronger too," Tsunade remarked, thinking he was joking.
Then she recalled rumors she'd heard from other ninja about Haneda assassinating the Third Tsuchikage, and she asked seriously, "Was it really you who killed Ōnoki?"
"Who else could it have been?" Haneda replied casually before getting to the point.
"As Hokage, I'm ordering you, Tsunade, to return to the village immediately and take up the position of director of Konoha Hospital."
Tsunade assumed Haneda was acting under the Third Hokage's orders and shook her head firmly.
"Did that old man send you? Tell him to leave me alone—I'm not going back."
"When did you and that old geezer get so chummy again?"
"No, you've misunderstood. The Third has stepped down. I'm the Hokage now!"
Haneda turned dramatically, letting his Hokage cloak billow, the kanji for "Fifth" clearly visible.
"?!?"
Tsunade's jaw dropped as she stared at Haneda in shock.
"Don't tell me you staged a coup with the Uchiha clan!"
Haneda rolled his eyes. "No, I was officially recognized and appointed as Hokage. I took office last night!"
"Now, as the Fifth Hokage, I'm commanding you to return to the village as an elder and the director of Konoha Hospital!"
The sheer amount of information left Tsunade stunned. When had Haneda returned to the village? How had he become Hokage so quickly? She hadn't even heard a whisper about it.
"Wait, hold on. Tell me—what about the old man and those other elders? Did you kill Danzō?"
"They're all alive," Haneda said. "Danzō is in prison. The Third visited him this morning. As for the other two elders, I fired them on the spot and appointed new ones. One of them is you. So, are you coming back or not?"
While Tsunade was still processing his words, the scene around her suddenly shifted. The tavern had transformed into a familiar office.
"Flying Thunder God? You've mastered this too?"
Tsunade was taken aback as long-forgotten memories resurfaced. The sensation of spatial teleportation was almost identical to her granduncle's Flying Thunder God Technique.
Haneda snapped his fingers, and a chair grew out of the ground beneath Tsunade, forcing her to sit. A desk sprouted in front of her.
Wood Release—Haneda had used Wood Release!
Just as Tsunade was about to question him further, Shikaku walked in, carrying a massive stack of documents with a cheerful smile.
"Lady Tsunade, these are the administrative tasks you need to handle today."
"?!?"
You dragged me back here to make me work?!
Realizing Haneda's true intentions, Tsunade bolted toward the window, intent on escaping.
But before she could reach it, Haneda activated his Lightning Chakra Mode and blocked her path.
Narrowing his eyes with a grin, Haneda said, "Lady Tsunade, as an elder of Konoha and the hospital director, you can't just wander off whenever you please."
"Haneda, you really are that naturally evil Uchiha brat my granduncle warned me about!"
Despite her complaints, Tsunade eventually relented under Haneda's relentless persuasion.
She understood that Koharu had been the hospital director before, and with her fired, Tsunade was the only one qualified for the role.
Still, Tsunade had her own plans—if she had to return, then Jiraiya had better come back too!
