Inside the Hokage Building, Uchiha Araki barged into the Hokage's office.
Surprisingly, the ANBU guards didn't stop him—mainly because nobody expected anyone to be bold enough to storm in unannounced or unsummoned; thus, for a moment, ANBU guards blinked in surprise but quickly took action: "Protect Hokage-sama!"
Once the ANBU surrounded Araki, Hiruzen blinked in surprise, "Huh? Aren't you… Uchiha Araki? You're still alive?"
He was visibly shocked.
He had assumed Kanzou would never let a traitor live.
Yet here he was, Araki… standing in front of him.
'No wait… why is he here?' Suddenly, a sense of unease gripped him.
His eyelids had been twitching since morning, a foreboding sign—as if warning him that something terrible was about to happen.
"You're surprised to see me alive, aren't you, Sarutobi Hiruzen?"
A vicious grin crept across Araki's face.
"How dare you speak to Hokage-sama like that!"
The ANBU flared with anger at Araki's disrespect. As members of the Hokage Platoon, their loyalty ran deep.
Disrespect toward the Hokage was never taken lightly.
But Araki didn't even spare them a glance, rather smirked at the Hokage, "Sarutobi Hiruzen, let me show you something interesting."
From a storage scroll, Araki took out a human head and hurled it straight at Hiruzen, "Here… a gift for you…"
"Hokage-sama, be careful!"
Seeing Araki suddenly throw something, the ANBU reacted instinctively—kunai and shuriken flew toward the thing in a flash.
Hiruzen's eyes caught a glimpse of the thing midair, and his expression changed drastically.
In an instant, he moved to intercept the incoming projectiles, deflecting them before catching the thing with both hands.
The moment he looked down at it, his body trembled—it was unmistakably the severed head of his eldest son, Shinnosuke.
With wide eyes and a growing fury, he stared at Araki.
"Uchiha Araki… you killed my son?"
Hiruzen's voice was thick with rage, his murderous intent filling the room.
But Araki, still under Kanzou's hypnosis, remained silent.
Instead, he calmly weaved hand signs and used a Jutsu, 'Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!'
'Earth Style: Mud Wall!'
As a seasoned shinobi, Hiruzen reacted instantly, raising a mud wall to block the fireball unleashed by Araki.
This was the Hokage Building—the very symbol of authority in Konoha Village.
If it were damaged, it would invite ridicule from the other village leaders.
"Uchiha Araki, you damn traitor!"
'Summoning Jutsu: Monkey King Enma!'
With a puff of smoke, an old monkey appeared at Hiruzen's side.
This was Enma, the Sarutobi clan's contracted summon—Mokey King Enma, whose body was as hard as diamond and who could transform into the indestructible Adamantine Staff.
Enma could also perform ninjutsu while in his summoned form.
"Sarutobi, are you facing a serious threat?"
Enma asked upon arrival, sensing the tension.
He knew Hiruzen only summoned him in extreme situations.
Hiruzen didn't respond. "Transform into the Adamantine Staff!" he ordered curtly.
But this time, he summoned Enma not because his opponent was too strong—but because the rage in his heart demanded release.
"Extend, Vajra Nyoi—crush him!"
With a single mighty swing of the Adamantine Staff, he smashed Araki out of the Hokage Building.
The blow struck with such force that it left Araki half-dead, his body broken and battered.
In truth, Hiruzen could have killed Araki instantly.
As a peak Kage-level ninja, combined with the power of his summoned beast, eliminating an Elite Jōnin in one strike would have been effortless.
But Sarutobi Hiruzen let Araki live—for now.
Something about the situation felt off.
He needed answers, and Araki was the only one who might provide them.
Araki was a known traitor—something Uchiha Kanzou knew since he was the one who told him.
With Kanzou's power, Araki shouldn't have survived.
Yet not only had he lived, he had turned on Kanzou and killed Hiruzen's son in revenge.
Thinking about it calmly, there was no way this didn't reek of deeper schemes.
"Sarutobi Hiruzen! You made me betray the Uchiha Clan… and then you betrayed me and discarded me?! Even if I die, I'll make sure you pay the price!"
Araki's roar, filled with hatred, echoed through the streets, heard by every Konoha shinobi who had rushed over after sensing the disturbance.
Suddenly, one of them shouted, "You damn traitor!"
"We let you escape once, and now you dare to attack the Hokage? Your crimes are unforgivable!"
A cold blade flashed, and before anyone could realize, Araki's head was severed cleanly and fell on the street with a low thud!
"What?!" screamed someone.
Meanwhile, others turned to look at the person responsible for severing that head with shock and surprise.
"Uchiha Kanzou?!"
Kanzou slowly sheathed Ryūjin Jakka, not a single drop of blood staining its blade. "Hokagay-sama, you're not hurt, are you?"
Kanzou, wearing a mask of solemnity, asked, looking at Sarutobi Hiruzen's grim expression.
"Uchiha Kanzou, you've gone too far," Hiruzen growled, gripping the staff tightly, his eyes filled with fury.
"Hokagay-sama, Uchiha Araki became a traitor the moment he attacked you. Killing him is excessive? I'd say even seven deaths by a thousand cuts wouldn't be excessive."
Kanzou replied, maintaining the mask of solemnity.
Though his eyes were mocking Hiruzen.
The veins on Hiruzen's forehead bulged.
It wasn't Araki's death that enraged him the most—it was the death of his son, Sarutobi Shinnosuke.
Though there was no direct evidence, his instincts screamed that Kanzou had something to do with it.
Overwhelmed by rage, Hiruzen nearly lashed out on the spot—but seeing Kanzou's calm and fearless demeanour, he forced himself to hold back.
He couldn't act on emotion alone—there was no solid evidence linking Kanzou to the death of his son.
Araki was already dead.
Any information he might have provided had died with him.
If he attacked Kanzou now, Kanzou would surely retaliate.
Hiruzen clenched his jaw and swallowed the grief of his son's death.
"Enma, go back."
With a calm expression, he dispelled his summoned beast.
'He held it in, just as expected. As expected of the Hokage—his tolerance is impressive.'
Kanzou couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration. He admitted to himself that he could never endure this level of restraint.
"Hazuki, take Araki's body back."
Kanzou ordered indifferently.
The body itself was worthless now, but the pair of Three Tomoe Sharingan still had value.
They could be extracted and used to enhance Mikoto's visual prowess.
