Naruto: Uchiha Rejects Konoha

Chapter 67: 67. Jiraiya Accepts Naruto As A Disciple

[Ding! The host opens random products; congratulations on getting the Cooperation gift pack! Do you want to open it? ]

While being pulled along by Jiraiya, Yagami checked in random products with a thousand feedback points daily. This thing was a complete blind box. Although it usually didn't produce anything worthwhile, consistent effort would yield occasional surprises.

"Open the Cooperation gift package!"

Yagami muttered silently, feeling a bit of excitement. It was a "big" gift package; it shouldn't disappoint.

[Ding! Host opens the pupil power gift package and gains greatly improved Sharingan pupil power, restored Sharingan pupil power, and enhanced Byakugan pupil power! ]

As the gift bag opened, Yagami felt both heat and cold in his eyes, followed by a terrifying surge of pupil power. Caught off guard, Jiraiya stumbled and fell flat.

"Yagami, are you crazy?!"

Jiraiya was shocked. As he tried to get up, he felt an invisible pressure holding him down, and he struggled to push back using his chakra.

"Sorry! My eyes seem to have become stronger. I couldn't control them just now..."

Yagami replied awkwardly, feeling the turbulent power in his eyes. He exerted considerable effort to suppress his emotions.

Although his Sharingan had not yet evolved into the eternal Mangekyō, in terms of raw eye power, only Uchiha Madara could rival him.

What surprised him even more was the transformation in his Byakugan. The bloodline limit technique that once merely allowed insight into chakra flow now demonstrated a new, suppressive power.

The burst of Byakugan's power granted Yagami a new ability—a coercive suppression effect.

Jiraiya struggled to rise from the ground due to the pressure being exerted.

This might explain why the Hyuga clan had never fully explored the potential of Byakugan.

Once Kaguya's power was released, she could not only stun nearby targets but even cause substantial damage.

In the original story, Kaguya, empowered by the Divine Tree, crushed two attackers with sheer force.

Indeed, after further development, Byakugan could even cast illusions. Ōtsutsuki Hamura, the younger brother of the Sage of Six Paths, was once controlled by Kaguya using her Byakugan.

These were all abilities that the Hyuga clan had never developed. It was strange to think that a bloodline limit based on vision was treated more like a martial art—it didn't align with the abilities they possessed.

Hearing this, Jiraiya grinned. Yagami was already powerful, yet his Sharingan continued to evolve. At this rate, without activating Sage Mode, he doubted he could keep up.

"Be careful, you... By the way, are all Uchiha's Sharingan so unpredictable?"

Jiraiya wisely changed the subject instead of probing further.

"How would I know! This is my first experience with Sharingan, too! Come on, weren't you eager to check on Naruto?"

After calming the power in his eyes, Yagami pretended not to care, aware that while Jiraiya wasn't necessarily an enemy, it was wise to keep his abilities concealed.

"You're giving up that easily? Don't you want to be Hokage? If you give up at the first sign of trouble, you won't stand a chance."

In the back mountain of the Uchiha clan, Sasuke tried to look cool as he formed a seal with his hands.

"Clone Technique!"

There was a bang and a puff of smoke, and an identical version of himself appeared beside him.

"Sasuke, don't be so proud. It's not like I can't do it; I just..."

When it came to these two, it was as if rivalry was built into their relationship. With others, it was different, but when together, every small provocation was magnified.

So, even a slight smirk from Sasuke was enough to set Naruto off. He quickly took a stance, forming the same seal as Sasuke.

"Clone!"

With another bang and puff of smoke, two Narutos appeared, mimicking Sasuke's performance perfectly.

"Tsk! What's wrong with you? The clones look identical. By logic, you should've mastered this, but why does it sometimes work and other times fail? I think you're distracted when performing the technique."

Seeing Naruto's perfect clone appear this time, Sasuke's face was filled with frustration; he couldn't figure out why this kept happening.

Hearing this, Naruto looked equally perplexed, scratching his head in confusion.

Of course, he wasn't entirely clueless. Every time the technique failed, he could feel his chakra was somehow "interfered with" and became "uncontrollable."

He had practised it countless times, yet to no avail.

"Do you feel it? Though faint, every time Naruto fails to cast the jutsu, a surge of violent chakra appears. It's the Nine Tails' chakra."

Yagami, hiding in the shadows, spoke to Jiraiya, who frowned. Was the Nine Tails' chakra leaking out because of the seal?

With Minato's sealing skills, this situation shouldn't have occurred after all this time, yet Yagami was right; that violent chakra was indeed the Nine Tails'.

"Yagami, I want to take Naruto as my disciple and take him with me. What do you think?"

Thinking of the sealed key Minato entrusted to him, Jiraiya felt a responsibility. He regretted neglecting Naruto for so many years.

"What does that have to do with me? If you want to take a disciple, you need Naruto's consent, right? We Uchiha aren't so overbearing to label someone as ours just because we've helped them. The Uchiha have little interest in the Nine Tails' Jinchūriki."

Yagami spread his hands as he spoke. Whether it was the Nine Tails or Naruto, he wasn't particularly concerned.

Though Naruto and Sasuke were both prophesied sons of destiny in the ninja world, he believed in relying on one's own strength. Yagami preferred not to depend on external power.

If he truly wanted the Nine-Tails, it would be easy. One release of the Tailed Beast Ball and an activated illusion would put the Nine Tails firmly under Uchiha's control.

After all, Three Tails was still relaxing in the pool at his home. Obtaining tailed beasts was simple for a Mangekyō user.

"I've been asking you for so long—do me this small favour!"

Jiraiya looked at Yagamiv with a pleading expression, which unsettled Yagami a bit.

It was hard to say whether Jiraiya's mischievous tendencies made him feel this way, but his look definitely had a strange effect.

"Alright, alright. Seriousness doesn't suit you, Jiraiya-sama. Save that expression and come with me!"

Yagami said resignedly. He understood Jiraiya's intention and didn't mind acting as a middleman.

Meanwhile, Naruto continued struggling to control the chakra in his body, but it had no effect, leaving him scratching his head.

"Alright, both of you, stop! When you encounter difficulties, you need to find the reason. Simply practising mindlessly won't always solve the problem."

Yagami and Jiraiya stepped forward and spoke.

The two young ones immediately ran over.

"Senior! Did you come to watch us practice?"

Sasuke looked excited. Being from the same clan, he had met Yagami many times and was now less reserved.

In contrast, Naruto felt a bit embarrassed. He didn't fully understand, but he knew this was Sasuke's home, and Yagami was Sasuke's family senior. He claimed he was training with Sasuke, but ultimately, he was benefiting from others' hospitality.

"Don't get the wrong idea. I'm not interested in your pretend training. Today, I'm just here to introduce someone to Naruto... Jiraiya-sama, don't you have a few words to say?"

Looking at Jiraiya, who seemed hesitant to face Naruto, Yagami spoke with amusement.

"Uh… hehehe… Naruto, right? I heard you're having some trouble with ninjutsu… would you like to solve it?"

Jiraiya's face froze, and halfway through his prepared speech, he locked eyes with Naruto's blue gaze, momentarily at a loss.

"Ah! White-haired old man, can you help me use ninjutsu properly? What should I do?"

Naruto's eyes lit up, and he ran over to Jiraiya, looking at him eagerly.

"I want to take you as my disciple. You'll train with me from now on. I'll find a way to help you control your chakra. So... what do you say?"

Jiraiya took a deep breath, trying to speak calmly.

"If I become your disciple, can I still train with Sasuke?"

Naruto's expression brightened but then turned uncertain as he glanced at Sasuke.

"For now, yes, but maybe not in the future, as I'll be taking you through special training to make you stronger... You've been with Sasuke all this time. Don't you want to defeat him someday?"

Jiraiya glanced between Sasuke and Naruto, quickly using their rivalry to appeal to Naruto.

Although these two had a strong bond, it was clear neither wanted to be outdone by the other.

They both desired to surpass each other.

"Can you really make me stronger? You're not lying to me, right?"

Naruto's eyes shone with determination. Compared to Sasuke, who could use Fire Release, Naruto's clone technique felt insufficient. Even though the gap was daunting, he was eager to overcome it.

"Naruto, this is Jiraiya-sama, known as the Toad Sage, one of the legendary Konoha Sannin. He's incredibly powerful!"

Sensing Jiraiya's plea for support, Yagami stepped in. Naruto and Sasuke fueled each other's growth, and making Naruto stronger would accelerate Sasuke's progress.

With the Sage of Six Paths watching, if one of them gained an advantage, the other would likely catch up soon after.

"Alright! Since Senior Yagami says so, I'm willing to be your disciple!"

Hearing this, Naruto no longer hesitated, trusting Yagami wholeheartedly.

Relieved, Jiraiya said his goodbyes to Yagami and then left with Naruto. He wanted to seize this chance to bond with Naruto.
