Chapter 94: [BONUS] Swordsmen
In a flash, he was in the midst of the camp, and immediately went to work. The surrounding Kiri Shinobi were, of course, caught by surprise, making Katsuro's job slightly easier, as he slashed away at the enemy. Katsuro's Kenjutsu combined with Susanoo no Mikoto was no match for any of the Shinobi, especially considering that they were mostly sensory types, and within the first 10 minutes of the battle, he had already eliminated about a half of the forces in the camp. Katsuro continued his onslaught - now that the initial surprise of the attack was over, he was aware that people would be trying to escape, and just as expected, he saw 2 teams rapidly making their way backwards. Luckily, he was well equipped with many new Jutsus, such as those he had 'taken' from Danzo, and he was very much willing to try them out.
"Wind Style: Vacuum Wave!"
An invisible wave of wind that Katsuro could only make out with chakra whizzed towards one of the escaping teams, slicing clean through the torsos of 2 of them, and leaving deep gashes on the other 2 - all fatal. Katsuro wasted no time though - after evading an attack from a nearby Kiri Shinobi, he did another one from Danzo.
"Wind Style: Vacuum Bullets!"
This time, the wind took the form of bullets, and they struck each of the Shinobi of the second escaping team in their torsos and legs - the majority of the wounds were fatal, but one Shinobi, who had a bullet to the leg, was able to somewhat escape, but Katsuro knew that his Shadow Clone would be able to take him out.
But just as Katsuro was about to finish off the last of the Kiri scouts still in the camp, he felt one of his Shadow Clones combust, and he turned to face the direction of the attackers, whose identities, from the experience of the fallen clone, he knew.
"We are 2 of the 7 Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, and you-"
Katsuro moved faster than any of them expected, and caught the speaker off guard. Before he or any of his comrades could register what was happening, the speaker's head was rolling on the ground, and Katsuro was still standing in the same position as before.
"Well, I am Senju Katsuro, and I guess now you're just 1 of the 6 Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist."
Katsuro hadn't just been attacking to reduce numbers, however. During his attack and mini-introduction, he kept eyes on the other swordsman, the ones that he didn't behead. The man's weapon was anything but a traditional sword - in fact, it wasn't even a sword. It was an axe, linked by a rope to a hammer.
So much for 'swordsman', Katsuro thought drily as the man let out a war-cry and attacked.
He's fast, Katsuro noticed, as he quickly dodged his swing. He continued to attack, and Katsuro noticed that the man was amazing at Bukijutsu - I don't think I've met another Shinobi this skilled with such an odd weapon.
Finally, Katsuro began fighting back, and the battle became fierce. On one hand, Katsuro was clearly superior in skill and speed, however, he wasn't used to the odd weapon and style of fighting, and on the other hand, his opponent was clearing outmatched, but he had far more experience than Katsuro in these types of battles - Kenjutsu vs his own, unique style of Bukijutsu.
Having said that, however, Katsuro was nothing if not adaptive, and he was quickly becoming accustomed to his opponent's fighting style.
He's attacked with the hammer a couple of times, but he's not fully committed to it even once - he's waiting for something. I need to draw him out to figure out what's going on.
After a rapid exchange of blows, he finally made his move. Dodging a downwards strike from the axe, Katsuro threw a Kunai straight at the man, which he dodged, as Katsuro expected. However, Katsuro slightly delayed himself, allowing just a half second, before using Flying Raijin to teleport behind the swordsman, and with all his might, swung his sword towards his neck - and just as expected, the swordsman blocked it perfectly, and the two stood in a deadlock for a while, pushing against each other's blade, and, using two hands compared to his opponent's one, Katsuro was pushing the blades towards his opponent until finally, Katsuro got his wish. In less than a second, the swordsman brought his hammer up high up into the air, and swung it underhand to the hilt of the axe.
The impact created a loud boom, almost like a mini explosion, and Katsuro's blade, already worn and weakened from the countless battles it had been in, chipped from the amount of bones and blades it had clashed with, shattered under the pure force, and the axe blade made its way towards Katsuro's chest rapidly.
The swordsman grinned. I'm about to beat the strongest Shinobi alive in a 1 versus 1? I am - huh?
Katsuro's body disappeared with a blur, and the swordsman almost went off balance from the force of his swing. Where is he?? Sh*t! How could I have been so stupid? He's fast, obviously, there's a reason why they gave him a name like Wind Emperor! Besides, doesn't he have Flying Raijin? Isn't that how he killed the Kazekage? Sh*t!
The swordsman looked around frantically, and he felt the chakra of his opponent - but it was everywhere. In the trees, at the campfires, in the tents, around the field - everywhere.
How? How the hell did he get into those spaces? Did he really kill everyone, everywhere?
Suddenly, he felt the chakra come extremely close to him, and he braced for impact, but it never came. Instead, it came from behind him, and he quickly turned around, and what he saw made his arms tremble in fear. Before him was Senju Katsuro, standing over the body of his fallen comrade, Raiga Kurosuki, holding the Kiba twin swords. The green lightning channeled through the twin swords, and honestly? The Stormbreaker looked and wielded the twin blades as if he'd been using them all his life.
In a flash, Katsuro advanced on him, attacking relentlessly, and in that moment, Akebino Jinin felt true fear for the first time. Katsuro did not rest or stop - his dual swords were whirlwinds of destruction. Every attack was purposeful and calculated, yet had the force of a madman with nothing to lose behind them, and it was all Jinin could do to not die, covering his vitals with his axe and hammer and trying to block as best as he could.
Even then, cuts and wounds appeared all over his body, from the blades themselves, yes, but also the lightning and the wind from his Susanoo no Mikoto, and Jinin was beginning to lose strength. He was losing blood far too quickly, and with it, his consciousness and power too.
Finally, he dropped his weapon, falling to his knees. He gathered his strength, trying to continue to fight, but all he could do was look up.
Is this how all the people I killed felt in their final moments? Jinin hazily wondered, seeing the cold, unforgiving look upon his attacker's face. I've never felt so helpless in my life.
The descending blades of Senju Katsuro were the last things he ever saw.
