Chapter 60: The Bonds of Comradeship
Ares "Thank you all for coming. Now that the war has ended, it's time we discuss the next steps. What are your plans moving forward?"
Meiji "I intend to return to the city with my people Lord Asura. We need to rebuild our homes, restore what we've lost, and create a future for our families."
Kando: [nodding] "Same here. we have suffered enough. Rebuilding is the only way forward."
Oki "I agree. We need to return and focus on rebuilding. War has taken too much from us."
Yuusei "I second that. We've fought enough. The city needs its people now, not soldiers."
Souta glancing at Yuusei before speaking "Yes. My people and I will follow lord Meiji to work and restore order and ensure the city thrives again."
Ares turning to Zeno "Zeno. What about you? What will you do?"
Zeno "For peace... and for Lord Ken's memory, we will not continue this war. It serves no purpose any longer."
The room falls silent as Zeno continues, his voice unwavering.
Zeno "We will cooperate with Meiji, Kando, Oki, and the rest. My people and I pledge our full loyalty to Lord Meiji."
The air in the room shifts as Meiji, Yuusei, and Souta exchange astonished glances.
Meiji shocked "Zeno… are you certain? You've stood against us . And as my elder brother's most trusted samurai, why this change now?"
Zeno "I have seen enough bloodshed already. Lord Ken's death made it clear—we cannot let this cycle continue. And you is the only leader strong enough to unite us and end this madness."
Yuusie raising an eyebrow, voice steady "Loyalty, you say? That's not a commitment to be made lightly, my disciple Zeno."
Zeno "It's not. But it's necessary. Without unity, we are doomed to repeat our mistakes. For the sake of my comrades, I will bow to Lord Meiji' leadership."
Oki hesitant but thoughtful
"If Zeno believes this… then perhaps it's time we all reconsider. Unity could be the key to true peace."
Meiji his tone calm
"I did not ask for loyalty, Zeno. But if that is what you and your people offer, I will accept it. Know this, though—peace requires all of us to work together. There is no room for hesitation or doubt."
Kando gritting his teeth before sighing
"Fine. If Zeno's serious, I'll follow through too. But mark my words, Meiji—if you waver, if you fail, I won't stay quiet."
Souta "It's time to put down our katana and pick up the tools to rebuild."
Oki: " Count on us."
Yuusei grinning slightly
"Looks like we've got ourselves a plan, then. Let's rebuild, and let's do it together."
Zeno "I agreed to my sensei. Cooperation is the only path forward."
Ares standing tall, looking at everyone "Then it's settled. From this day forward, you will work as one. No more divisions, no more bloodshed. You will build a future worth fighting for."
The leaders exchange nods, the weight of their decision sinking in.
Meiji firmly said"Good. Let's not waste another moment."
Meiji turned to his attendants. "Yuusie, Souta, make sure my orders are clear. We return to the capital. Our people need to rebuild their homes. No more war."
Yuusie and Souta bowed their heads deeply, without hesitation. "Understood, my lord," they said in unison, and immediately turned to leave.
Meiji turned to Zeno, Kando, and Oki. "The same goes for you," he said. . address my order on your people . The war has stop we will all. Rebuild. Our home together"
Zeno, Kando, and Oki rose to their feet, their expressions resolute and nod. "We will follow your lead lord shogun"
Zeno said, his voice filled with sincerity. "The future belongs to those who are willing to build it."
The camp around them erupted into activity. The sound of men and women packing up their tents, gathering supplies, and preparing for the journey home filled the air. The noise was like thunder, a clear symbol of the end of the war and the beginning of something new. The air was thick with emotion—relief, excitement, sadness—but more than anything, there was hope.
As the people began their march home,
Meiji stood at the edge of the camp, watching them. Children ran ahead, their laughter echoing through the air as they played in the fields, their energy contagious. The adults moved more slowly, carrying their belongings, but their faces were lit with smiles that had been long absent. They had lived through the darkest of days and now, finally, they had a reason to hope again.
The journey to the capital was long, but the people walked with purpose, their hearts lightened by the promise of a future they had almost forgotten.
Meiji: " Ensure the preparations are swift."
Yuusei and Sosoke they bowing deeply "Understood, our lord shogun"
As the leaders begin mobilizing, Ares walks through the camp, stopping to address groups of villagers, soldiers, and mercenaries.
Ares stepping into the tent suddenly and smiling "Ryogi! Kenji! Sato! Yuuto! How are you all doing?"
Ryogi startled, scrambling to pull on a shirt "Y-Yachi'? What are you—"
Sato half-asleep, rubbing his eyes "Wait, what's going on? Is it morning already?"
Yuuto mid-change, grabbing a blanket to cover himself "My lord Asura?!"
Ares "Relax, relax. I'm just here to see my friends."
Kenji blinking in disbelief "Friends? You barged in while some of us were… never mind! What are you doing here, Yachi' brat?"
Ares smiling apologetically "I came to check on you all. I'm sorry I wasn't able to save you from being held as captives."
Ryogi waving his hand dismissively "No need to apologize. None of us expected to end up as captives. It's not your fault Yachi'."
Sato nodding "Exactly, Yachi'. You have nothing to be sorry for."
Ares suddenly moves forward and hugs Ryogi tightly. The tent goes silent as everyone stares, stunned.
Ryogi stammering "W-What are you doing, Yachi' ?!"
Sato turning red "You could've warned us! Yachi"
Ares grinning, moving on to hug Kenji and the others one by one "What? Can't I show my appreciation for my comrades?"
Yuuto his face red, laughing nervously "You just caught us off guard, that's all Yachi-san."
Kenji embarrassed but chuckling "Lord Asura… I mean, Yachi', what can we do for you?"
Ares waving his hand "Stop being so serious, Kenji. Just call me brat or Yachi' like usual. We're friends, aren't we?"
The group exchanges glances before bursting into laughter, the tension breaking.
Sato grinning "Yachi', I still can't believe you're Asura, the legendary hero! You fooled us all!"
Ryogi laughing and shaking his head "Seriously, you kid! You had us thinking you were just some ordinary guy!"
Yuuto: "All this time, and you were hiding that you're the Asura Yachi-san? Unbelievable!"
Ares: "Well, it wasn't exactly something I could just bring up, was it?"
Kenji laughing heartily "You fool! You had us completely fooled! Brat!, you really are something else!"
Ryogi wiping away tears of laughter "Alright, Kid. Enough surprises for one day. What do you need?"
Ares his tone softening "I need your help. I need someone to return to the place where we left those refugees we encountered and specialy that kid suki. They need to be escorted back to the city safely."
Kenji stepping forward without hesitation "You don't need to ask, Yachi brat' We're comrades. Even if you didn't request it, we'd gladly do it."
Yuuto nodding, smiling warmly "Of course Yachi-san. Just give us the word, and we'll handle it."
Sato grinning "We're not about to let you down, Yachi'. You can count on us."
Kenji giving a mock salute "We've got this. Don't worry about a thing."
Ares looks around at his friends, his heart full as they laugh and cheer together.
Ares "Thank you, everyone. Truly. I couldn't ask for better comrades."
Ryogi clapping Ares on the back "You're stuck with us now, kid. Legendary hero or not, you're still the same kid we've always known!"
Kenji laughing "Yeah, don't go thinking we'll treat you any differently!"
Sato smirking "You might be Asura, but to us, you'll always be Yachi'."
Ryogi clapping Ares on the back "kid, you know, when we go back to our villages, we're going to need something to prove we actually fought alongside the legendary Asura!"
Kenji grinning mischievously "Yeah, no one's going to believe us without proof. How about giving us your signature,Brat? You know, to brag a little."
Ares "A signature? You want me to sign something for you?"
Yuuto nodding enthusiastically "Come on, Yachi-san. Just think of it as a favor for your friends!"
Sato smirking "If you don't, we'll just start spreading embarrassing stories about you. Your choice."
Ares "Alright, alright! You win. Hand me something to sign."
Ryogi quickly grabs a piece of parchment and hands it to Ares, who signs it with a flourish. The group cheers, holding up the signed parchment like a treasure.
Ryogi laughing "This is going to make us legends back home! Kid, you've officially spoiled us!"
Kenji smirking "You better not regret this brat! when people start asking for more autographs!"
Ares grinning "As long as it's for you all, I don't mind."
Yuuto grinning widely "This is why we'll follow you anywhere, Yachi-san"
Sato teasing "Just don't get a big head now, Asura!"
The tent is filled with laughter, some of the group wiping away tears of joy as they share this moment with the man they now know as both their friend and the legendary Asura.
