Naruto: The Hyuga Mastermind

Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Spatial Dojutsu!

Chapter 24: Spatial Dojutsu!

In the underground training ground, Hyuga Fuji's white pupils turned a shade of blue-white.

This was the manifestation of active ocular power.

He furrowed his brow slightly, raised his hand, and delivered a swift palm strike.

With a loud bang, though there was no visible shockwave, the wooden stake a hundred meters away suddenly exploded!

From Hyuga Fuji's perspective, it seemed as if space had shifted—his palm was now imprinted directly on the stake.

"Spatial manipulation of the Tenseigan?"

The Tenseigan is known to have six abilities: Tenseigan Chakra Mode, control over gravity and repulsion, chakra absorption, summoning Hamura's Golem, puppet control, and spatial manipulation.

Among them, spatial manipulation allows the creation of spatial portals—an ocular jutsu that enables direct space traversal.

Just now, he had created a small spatial passage that transported his palm to strike the wooden stake.

Now, in front of him and a hundred meters away, there were two small swirling vortices, just large enough for a hand to pass through.

"This feels like a personal, unique dojutsu."

Hyuga Fuji thought to himself.

After absorbing enough Byakugan, there were two reasons he had stopped targeting more Byakugan.

The first was the political shift—after the Third Hokage stepped down and expressed his regrets, it was inappropriate to continue.

The second was the ongoing transformation of his ocular power.

When his Byakugan first began evolving, a faint azure hue unavoidably appeared in his eyes, signifying the surge of transforming ocular power.

At first, he wasn't sure what this change was for. Over time, he was able to control his Byakugan's power to prevent the blue tint, but no further changes occurred.

However, in recent days, a new development had emerged—a unique dojutsu was gradually taking shape.

Hyuga Fuji retracted his hand, creating several more spatial portals large enough for himself to pass through, each positioned at different distances and angles. Carefully, he assessed the ocular power being consumed.

"The amount of ocular power consumed by creating a spatial portal has no relation to the distance—it depends solely on the size. However, it must remain within the field of vision of the Byakugan."

"The consumed ocular power regenerates and doesn't burden my vision. The consumption is less than Mangekyo Sharingan techniques, but it also lacks the drawbacks of the Mangekyo."

As always, this was consistent with the stable nature of the Byakugan.

"No, it's precisely the Byakugan's stability that makes it difficult for unique dojutsu to emerge."

Hyuga Fuji's thoughts shifted as a realization dawned.

"The Byakugan inherently resists change, but my recent training in the Flying Thunder God technique—a spatial ninjutsu—along with the chakra feedback from shadow clones, seems to have triggered its transformation. That's why I awakened this dojutsu resembling the Tenseigan's spatial manipulation."

"Wait, why did I assume that all six of those abilities are exclusive to the Tenseigan phase?"

Hyuga Fuji suddenly paused, reflecting deeply.

The Tenseigan appears fully formed, without any visible intermediate stages, leading to a misconception.

To use an analogy: if there were only the Six Paths Sage's Rinnegan and no examples of the Mangekyo Sharingan, how would others view Susanoo?

It would be considered a Rinnegan-exclusive technique!

Exactly—if there were no examples of Susanoo being used without the Rinnegan, everyone would believe it was unique to the Rinnegan.

The Tenseigan, with its fully realized state and lack of intermediate evolutions, naturally led him to assume that all of its abilities were exclusive to that stage.

But that might not be the case.

As the Byakugan's ultimate evolution, the Tenseigan is marked by its stability, which could also be its defining trait. Its abilities might not be as diverse as those of the Mangekyo Sharingan or Rinnegan.

The abilities shown by the Giant Tenseigan and Toneri's Tenseigan overlapped significantly.

Of the six abilities associated with it, four were clearly tied to the Tenseigan. The remaining two—puppet control and spatial manipulation—might actually be residual dojutsu from earlier stages of the Byakugan's evolution.

Similar to how Susanoo isn't exclusive to the Rinnegan.

"If that's the case, then my Byakugan might still have another intermediate stage before evolving into the Tenseigan. But for now, this is just speculation—I have no points of reference…"

Hyuga Fuji narrowed his eyes and pulled out a Flying Thunder God kunai inscribed with special runes from his pouch. He threw it forward.

Swoosh!

With a sharp whistling sound, Hyuga Fuji's figure appeared where the kunai landed, a faint smile on his face.

"Training the Flying Thunder God perfects my dojutsu, and the dojutsu, in turn, aids my mastery of the Flying Thunder God. Truly… symbiotic."

"So this is the strength of a Hyuga jonin. Even just a shadow clone is this powerful…"

In the forest, Ebisu watched in awe as Hyuga Fuji's shadow clone easily eliminated a Hidden Mist infiltrator.

"Fuji is indeed strong," Gai said, giving a thumbs up and flashing a brilliant smile. "That's why we can't lose—let's take down all these Hidden Mist ninjas!"

With that, he charged toward a nearby Hidden Mist ninja.

"Good luck," Ebisu muttered, rolling his eyes.

They were on a patrol mission.

Originally, their teammate Genma Shiranui had applied to leave the team to participate in the jonin exams. He'd formed a temporary squad with two peers to complete missions quickly and bolster his credentials for the exam.

As a result, their team now consisted of just two members. Without a jonin to lead them, some tasks were beyond their reach. Gai had asked someone he knew to help out.

Although it was only a shadow clone, a jonin's shadow clone was no trivial thing.

Even when their patrol encountered Hidden Mist ninjas sneaking into the village, the enemy was the one who had to retreat.

Yet Ebisu couldn't bring himself to feel at ease.

Having been on the same team for a while, he didn't dislike Gai, but he loathed being the one stuck with him alone.

Just thinking about that jerk Genma taking his time with the jonin exams and leaving him to deal with Gai alone made Ebisu feel hopeless about the future.

"Ebisu, Gai, stop!"

A stern shout snapped Ebisu out of his thoughts. He looked up to see Hyuga Fuji's shadow clone standing on a tree branch ahead.

The shadow clone was gazing into the distance with a grave expression. "Return immediately, fire the signal flare, and warn the other patrol teams to evacuate."

"The Hidden Mist have jonin infiltrators here—seven of them! It's the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist!"

A chill swept over Ebisu and Gai, freezing their blood. They stared at Hyuga Fuji in disbelief, but all they saw was his retreating figure.

"I'll do my best to lure them away—go now!"

Out of their view, the shadow clone's expression remained calm.

The shadow clone had been deployed as a precaution, anticipating that Gai might encounter the Seven Ninja Swordsmen just as he had originally.

Dai's selfless teachings had been instrumental to Fuji's survival in the ninja world—a debt he would never forget. Even if Watergate wasn't here, Fuji would ensure the Seven Ninja Swordsmen met their end.

"So easy. We've infiltrated this deep into Konoha without any trouble. That so-called Yellow Flash doesn't seem like much—becoming Hokage must've dulled his senses."

Perched on a tree branch, Jinpachi Munashi, wielder of the Longsword: Stitching, sneered as his bandaged face twisted with laughter.

"They call him the fastest in the ninja world. I wonder if he can outrun us," Fuguki Suikazan, wielder of the Blunt Sword: Kabutowari, scoffed as he kicked aside the corpse of a Konoha ninja.

"With all seven of us here, even the Third Mizukage couldn't take us on. What chance does some upstart Hokage have?"
