Chapter 438: Chapter 438: Uchiha Madara's Back-Up Plan
"The root of the war lies in the Mist Village. Mizukage Yagura appears to be using the conflict as a means to weaken opposing clans and consolidate his power. War provides the perfect excuse for such actions."
"Hmph, low-level and despicable methods," Uchiha Madara scoffed.
Although Yagura's tactics were clever, they appeared beneath Madara's standards. To him, if one sought to eliminate opposition, the most direct and decisive method was to confront them head-on. There was no need for such underhanded schemes.
White Zetsu grinned, his expression as unsettling as ever.
After expressing his disdain for Yagura, Madara shifted focus. "What about Konoha? Any suitable candidates there?"
White Zetsu hesitated, then grinned awkwardly. "To be honest, Mr. Madara, the younger generation of Uchiha is... well..."
Madara frowned. Just Nagato wasn't enough. For his plans to succeed, he needed a contingency—a backup. He required someone from the Uchiha clan, a piece he could easily manipulate and use if needed.
But finding such a candidate wasn't easy.
The ideal individual had to meet several criteria:
Exceptional talent to serve as a replacement for Nagato if necessary. A stubborn and extreme personality, prone to succumbing to darkness when faced with adversity. Enough naivety or single-mindedness to be manipulated without resistance.
"Is there no suitable candidate?" Madara asked, narrowing his eyes.
White Zetsu sighed dramatically. "None. The young Uchiha of this generation don't quite meet your standards. Either they lack talent, are too clever to manipulate, or simply don't have the necessary darkness within."
Madara closed his eyes and remained silent for a moment, contemplating his next move.
"Keep looking. This is critical to my plan. Nagato still needs time to grow, and until then, I need options," Madara said firmly.
Thanks to the Gedo Statue sustaining him, Madara wasn't in immediate danger of death. He could afford to wait—but not forever.
"Understood," White Zetsu replied, though his expression quickly shifted to one of curiosity.
"By the way, Lord Madara... what does it feel like to poop?"
Madara froze.
"..."
His silence stretched on as he chose to ignore the question.
White Zetsu's peculiar curiosity was a result of his unique physiology. Unlike normal humans, his body absorbed everything he consumed, leaving him incapable of experiencing basic human functions like digestion or excretion. This lack of experience had turned bodily functions into an obsession.
"Idiot," Madara muttered under his breath, shaking his head.
He needed rest. Even with the Gedo Statue's energy, his aging body required sleep to maintain functionality. Closing his eyes, he leaned back and began to drift off, but the strange conversation lingered in his mind longer than he cared to admit.
As he fell asleep, a single word echoed in his thoughts: Hashirama.
Konoha
Meanwhile, Shinki and Namikaze Minato were heading to meet the enigmatic Killer Bee.
As they approached, Shinki couldn't help but notice Bee's peculiar behavior—his constant mumbling and erratic rhymes.
Has this kid gone off the deep end? Shinki thought, watching Bee with mild concern.
"My lord!" Bee exclaimed, quickly putting away a makeshift music score and running over to greet Shinki.
Shinki sighed in relief. "At least you still remember how to greet people. I was starting to think you'd lost it."
Bee tilted his head in confusion, but Shinki pressed on. "How's your training? Is the Eight-Tails still resisting you?"
Bee grinned. "He's been much calmer lately! I've been singing to it every day, and it's really starting to vibe with me!"
Shinki paused, silently offering a moment of sympathy for the Eight-Tails. Poor thing, it must be losing its mind from all that singing.
After a brief silence, Shinki motioned for Minato to step forward.
"This is my disciple, Namikaze Minato. Your training focuses not only on chakra control and mastery of the Tailed Beast's chakra but also on high-intensity combat. From now on, Minato will join you regularly for sparring. You can learn from each other."
Killer Bee didn't object. The Third Raikage had instructed him to follow Shinki's guidance and orders. Despite his eccentric personality, Bee was obedient when it came to serious matters.
Shinki turned to Minato, his tone serious. "Minato, this is your new sparring partner. Bee's taijutsu is exceptional. The physical techniques of the Cloud Village differ greatly from those of Konoha. By training with him, you'll improve your reflexes and adaptability."
Minato nodded. His training had progressed to the point where he was learning the Flying Thunder God Technique, but mastering it would take time. Despite its difficulty, Minato was steadily improving, his natural talent shining through.
"Yes, teacher," Minato replied confidently.
Shinki smiled briefly, then his expression turned serious. "Minato, remember this: the key to mastering the Flying Thunder God Technique isn't just speed or skill—it's anticipation. The moment you understand where your enemy will move, you've already won."
Minato straightened, his focus sharpening. He knew this wasn't just a training session—his teacher's words carried weight, and he would take them to heart.
