Chapter 223: Chapter 223: If You Can Disgust Others, You Will Never Wrong Yourself
Teasing Nara Shikako, Shinki casually pushed some documents and scrolls aside, sat on the desk, and turned to Tsunade.
"What's the deal with this sudden Five Kage Summit? And why did the Sand Village initiate it?"
Tsunade sighed, leaning back in her chair. "Who knows? The old man and I have been racking our brains, but we still couldn't figure it out. If you want answers, you'll need to head to the Land of Iron."
Shinki nodded thoughtfully. "Hopefully, it's not anything serious. A war doesn't seem likely—after all, Sand Village can't afford the price of rallying the other villages."
"That's what Orochimaru said too. Whatever this is, it's not about war. The Sand Village doesn't have the resources for that," Tsunade agreed. "It must be something significant that all the villages care about, otherwise the summit wouldn't happen."
"Fine. We'll find out in the Land of Iron soon enough," Shinki said, standing up. "For now, I need to go clean up. It's been a long trip. By the way, we need to find a suitable place in the village to house the summoned beasts. They're growing way too fast."
"Growing fast?" Tsunade asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah, at this rate, they'll be the size of Manda in two years. Honestly, raising them is stressful. I can manage, but poor Minato's going to have a tough time," Shinki said with a sigh.
Tsunade smirked. "What are you doing, raising a disciple or raising a child?"
"Tell me about it. I'm handling everything—even feeding his summoned beasts. It's getting ridiculous," Shinki replied, shaking his head.
Nara Shikako offered a solution. "Why not put them in the sea? Near the waters around the Land of Whirlpools, there's hardly any activity. Let them hunt for food on their own. The ocean's full of prey."
Shinki's eyes lit up. "Why didn't I think of that earlier? The sea is perfect—no more worrying about feeding them. Thanks for the suggestion, Shikako-sensei."
Shikako folded his arms smugly. "How about a little gratitude? Treat me to a barbecue."
"One meal?"
"Two."
"Done!" Shinki agreed with a laugh.
Later that evening, the three of them gathered at the Akimichi family's barbecue restaurant. Shinki sipped on his juice while Shikako and Tsunade enjoyed sake. Shikako couldn't help but give Shinki a disapproving look.
"What's so great about juice? Men should drink sake," Shikako teased.
Shinki smirked. "What's so great about sake? Look at Tsunade—she just downed a bottle. I'll stick with my juice."
The two men exchanged silent jabs while Tsunade chuckled and enjoyed her meal. After a while, Tsunade brought up the mission.
"Shinki, this Five Kage Summit will likely be just formalities. The chance of any real conflict is slim."
"Agreed," Shikako added. "The purpose of the summit is to resolve disputes, not create new ones. No matter how tense things get, everyone knows to keep their cool in the Land of Iron."
Shinki nodded. "I'm not worried. The real focus will be uncovering the reason behind the summit. As for conflicts, the worst that could happen is a spat between Konoha and the Sand Village. The other villages won't get involved unless there's something in it for them."
Tsunade leaned forward. "Speaking of the Sand Village, are you taking Pakura with you? If you do, you'll run into the Kazekage and their people. That's bound to be awkward."
Shinki chuckled. "Why not take her? It's not me who'll feel awkward. Besides, this kind of thing was bound to happen eventually. Better sooner than later."
Shikako blinked in confusion. "Pakura? Wait, isn't she the genius from Sand Village who was as famous as the Kazekage's son, Rasa?"
"Yep," Tsunade said with a smirk. "Shinki ran into her during a mission and decided to capture her—not because of her skills, mind you, but because she was pretty. Then he brought her back to camp and convinced her to defect. Can you believe that?"
Shikako gaped, his expression torn between amazement and disbelief. "Are you serious? Capturing a genius from another village because she's pretty? That's... unique."
Tsunade burst into laughter, slapping the table. "I'm kidding, of course! It wasn't her looks—it was her Kekkei Genkai, Scorch Release. Shinki thought it was too valuable to waste in the Sand Village, so he recruited her."
Shikako relaxed, but only slightly. "Still... that's bold. And it worked?"
Shinki shrugged. "She's here, isn't she?"
Tsunade leaned back with a sly grin. "It'll be interesting to see how the Kazekage reacts when he sees her at the summit."
"Good. Let them squirm," Shinki said with a mischievous glint in his eye. "If I can disgust them, why hold back?"
