Before long, I was back in the main room, where the Daimyo was speaking with the Kiri Shinobi. However, they stopped when they saw me enter, and the Daimyo smiled, "Good, here you are child. Come, serve us tea."
As he said that, he sent a glare at his wife, who snorted and looked away.
I nodded and proceeded to serve each of them tea. They did not immediately start drinking though as several servants appeared, and they tasted each of the cups. Only after a couple of minutes, when none of them showed any particular sign, did everyone start drinking.
As for me, I regained my shamisen, and once again started playing, for a more angry song this time. The poison I had used was special, so to say.
It actually worked like a remote controlled bomb. By itself, it was harmless and thus undetectable. However, if the one who drunk said potion were to smell a certain smell, then they would become easily manipulable.
The ones who tested the drinks are fine because they all stood quite a distance away from me, but as my targets started drinking, I got closer to them, allowing them all to smell the rose like aroma coming from my body.
They did not pay attention to it though as they returned to their conversation.
Kisame, who had his hand on the box holding his sword, and hadn't touched his tea yet, said, "There are too many weak points on the river, you need to place better defences over them, or we could be hit any day."
The Daimyo shook his head and replied, "Some of my best men are guarding them already, it would take… a giant to bring them down."
Kisame's face turned a little annoyed as he finally sipped into his drink and muttered something under his beard. I don't know what he said, and neither does the Daimyo, but everyone in the room can guess it wasn't nice.
Seeing the Daimyo's face change, the young ninja who helped me, who was a member of the Yuki Clan since he can wield ice, intervened, "Your security is too lax as well. If we weren't here, Konoha's Anbu could easily sneak in here and assassinate you!"
The Daimyo's wife scoffed and pointed at the guards as she said, "What do you think, that we let anyone in? Anyone seeking to enter the palace has their identity and motif checked thoroughly. As for sneaking in, don't make me laugh. We had some of the best seal masters from all around the world protect this place."
The Yuki Shinobi shook his head and said, "A Shinobi can transform into anyone."
As he said that, he suddenly transformed into the Daimyo, making the Mistress snort and the Daimyo groan, "Don't you dare use my face like that!"
Everyone was surprised at his sudden outburst, but I was feeling great. My poison was working.
Kisame hit Yuki, making him transform back into his normal appearance, which made the Mistress' eyes shine as she suddenly got up and started walking towards me as she asked, "This disguises you ninjas use, how can we know if someone is using it?"
Kisame shook his head and replied, "If they are in the near vicinity of one of our sensors, such as in the same room, then you have nothing to worry about, they will be able to sense the unusual chakra."
The Mistress' face turned vicious as she looked down at me, now at my side, while I was unperturbed and kept playing, she asked, "But what if they are wrong? What tells us this girl isn't a spy? Isn't it weird for a new servant to suddenly pop out of nowhere?"
I stopped my music, and was about to defend myself when the Mistress slapped me across the cheek, spitting out, "Did I tell you to stop?!"
I could see several of the people around the table now getting uncomfortable, it was getting harder for them to contain their emotions. Still, they were greatly trained, so they held on for now.
Holding my cheek, I restarted playing, and Kisame said, "Getting hit would dispel the illusion, so she definitely isn't under the Transformation Jutsu."
The Mistress looked annoyed, but she grabbed her metal chopstick, holding it like a knife as she argued, "Aren't chakra wielders supposed to be much stronger than normal people? If she was a ninja, this slap probably felt like a mosquito bite and wouldn't count as a hit."
Well, for once she is right on one thing, it did feel like a mosquito bite, but where she's wrong was that it would even have dispelled the Transformation of a Kage.
I knew it, and the others also knew it as they looked at her ill at ease, and she said, "I should try something better…"
She raised the chopstick up, about to bring it down on me, and I froze in 'fear'. 'Thankfully', before the chopstick could harmlessly bump onto my face, the Yuki ninja appeared between us, swatting the chopstick away from the Mistress' hands.
The Mistress cried out in pain as her hand quickly started getting red, and Yuki said coldly, "We haven't come here to watch your wife beat little girls for no reason."
The Daimyo originally looked angry his wife had been hit, even if across the hand, but Yuki's words seemed to have the effect of a bucket of cold water as he regained his cool and said, "Of course, of course."
He turned to his wife and said, "Go get your hand checked my love, we'll be busy here."
The Mistress clenched her teeth hard, but she still acted with elegance as she acquiesced and left the room, not forgetting to throw a death glare at me.
As she left, I wanted to resume to my music, but before I could the Daimyo suddenly asked, "Stop the music girl, and serve us some tea."
I nodded and immediately set down my shamisen and did as I was told. They looked like they wanted to talk about something, but as I began gracefully serving them tea, I saw their eyes follow me at all times.
Although low ranked for it's effects, my poison jutsu was quite fearsome for it's versatility and nearly undetectable nature. It didn't just make them more prone to getting angry, all their emotions were magnified, including pity for a little girl, or lust… Also, the closer I was to them, the more they would be affected, because of my perfume. And right now, I bet I smelled like their favourite thing in the world.
Of course, while it's versatility was useful, it could also be dangerous to my mission as it made my victims emotionally unstable, so one mistake and they could start strongly feeling an emotion I did not want them to feel.
I feigned not seeing anything as I finished serving them all tea, but as I took a step back I saw several of them, including the Daimyo and Yuki, as well as a few less experienced ninjas from Kiri, lean forward, almost trying to follow me.
Seeing this, Kisame, one of the only ones who hadn't moved, frowned and cleared his throat, bringing the others out of their trance. Then, he asked, "The tea wasn't this good when first served. Did you make this second serving?"
I bowed to him and replied, "I did."
Kisame squinted his eyes and continued, "You are surprisingly skilled for a little girl. You trump every servant in here in every domain. It is a little suspicious."
Before I could say anything, Yuki burst out in anger, "Will you let her go?! She's just a little girl for fuck's sake!"
Kisame started emitting killing intent as he glanced at Yuki and said, "Is this how you speak to your superior?"
Hearing this, I internally smiled. Kisame did not steal his reputation, his grasp over his emotions was greater than anyone in the room. However, he had still let something slip. They were supposed to be nobles, and this wasn't a way for a noble to speak to another. This was a soldier speaking to another.
Kisame seemed to realize his slip up too as he immediately stopped talking and retracted his killing intent, another big sign he wasn't a simple emissary, but it did make Yuki shut up.
