Naruto: Swarm System

Chapter 434: Chapter 434: The Whereabouts of Isshiki

Returning to the palace in the Land of Ancestors.

Shishou found Kaguya lying on the recliner, staring at the sky as usual. However, when she saw him return, she was visibly taken aback. Her usually expressionless face became animated.

The sensation of Shishou's tongue had indeed left a significant impression on Kaguya.

Shishou couldn't help but smile. He walked over to Kaguya's recliner, squeezed in, and lay closely beside her.

Kaguya pursed her lips and then held Shishou in her arms.

Giving the other person a warm embrace.

This was one of the few ways she knew to express her affection for the person in front of her, and it was also the only way she rewarded Hagoromo and Hamura.

"???"

Shishou looked at Kaguya curiously, finding the situation amusing.

This was the first time someone over six feet tall like him was held like a child. It felt both strange and funny.

Playing with Kaguya's pale, jade-like hand, Shishou smiled and said, "Kaguya, I might have to leave soon."

Kaguya's expression changed, and she frowned. "You are to stay by my side from now on. You are not allowed to go anywhere."

Shishou was crucial to her future plans of cultivating the Divine Tree and, as her husband, she couldn't allow him to leave.

Shishou chuckled, "Do you remember what I said when we first met? I'm from a thousand years in the future. I have to go back."

Tsunade, Mikoto, and the others were still waiting for him. Shishou had to return no matter what.

Kaguya was taken aback. "What if I don't let you go?"

Such a domineering statement.

Shishou laughed lightly and explained, "If I don't go back, I might not be able to meet you. Our current life might turn into a mere illusion because I don't belong to this time."

Kaguya was confused. "Why?"

Shishou thought for a moment and then lied, "If my presence changes the course of history, it could affect the timeline I come from. Time might correct itself, and I might disappear."

If his presence changed the historical trajectory, it could potentially alter the future timeline, causing him to never travel back to Kaguya's era. This would create a paradox.

In that scenario, who knew what might happen?

Of course, Shishou could hide like Ōtsutsuki Isshiki for a thousand years and then suddenly reappear. However, that would undoubtedly cause his feelings for Tsunade, Mikoto, and the others to wane.

Hearing Shishou's explanation, Kaguya pursed her lips and said seriously, "Is this why you never told me about the future?"

She had once asked Shishou to talk about the future, but he had refused outright.

"Yes," Shishou nodded, intertwining their fingers. "Because I don't want to lose you."

Kaguya was momentarily stunned.

Then, she leaned down and brought her lips close to Shishou's.

After a long kiss, they parted.

Shishou nestled his face against Kaguya's neck.

Kaguya frowned slightly because his breath tickled her.

Just as Shishou was contemplating whether to go further, the two little troublemakers barged in.

"Mother, Father, are you fighting?"

Hagoromo and Hamura appeared beside the recliner, looking at Shishou and Kaguya with curiosity.

Shishou glared at Hagoromo and Hamura and then separated from Kaguya.

Kaguya waved her hand, expressionless. "No, we're not."

Since she didn't understand what Shishou was about to do next, her response was very natural without any hint of abnormality.

"Hagoromo, Hamura, come here. Today, I'm going to teach you swordsmanship," Shishou said, smiling as he took out a wooden whip he had taken from Ringo Ameyuri's place from his storage scroll.

"Alright!" The two little ones, oblivious to the impending trouble, responded happily.

Soon after, two screams echoed from the palace in the Land of Ancestors.

In the following months, Shishou returned to his peaceful life of being a supportive husband and teaching his children.

Perhaps knowing that Shishou was about to leave, Kaguya became more attached to him. Although they hadn't crossed the final line, they had developed a bond akin to that of a married couple.

A new day.

In the capital of the Land of Others.

Carrying freshly bought ingredients, a disguised Shishou entered a small inn and ordered a simple lunch.

At a nearby table, a monk named Jigen was feasting on a pile of food.

Inside Jigen's body resided Ōtsutsuki Isshiki, the one Kaguya sought.

After being ambushed by Kaguya, Isshiki had parasitized the wandering monk Jigen, who was cultivating natural energy. He controlled Jigen, living in the capital of the Land of Others while trying to gather resources to restore his power.

Unfortunately, the deities of this world had been mostly eradicated by him and Kaguya previously, making it difficult for him to find suitable hosts or precious resources.

Restoring his power might take a thousand years.

This only deepened Isshiki's hatred for Kaguya.

Had it not been for Kaguya's treacherous actions, a lower-class member of the Ōtsutsuki clan, he wouldn't have ended up in such a state.

However, Kaguya had consumed the Divine Fruit and was now beyond his damaged self's ability to confront. He had no choice but to hide and accumulate strength.

Shishou finished his lunch, paid, and left the inn with his ingredients.

He hadn't looked at Isshiki once.

He knew Jigen lived in a luxurious temple not far away, and this wasn't the first time he'd encountered Jigen at this inn.

Confirming that Jigen still resided in the temple, Shishou left with his ingredients. Once in a secluded area, he used the Flying Thunder God Technique to return to the Land of Ancestors.

He had spent enough time in this era; it was time to go back.

After washing and preparing the ingredients, he cooked lunch and dined with Kaguya and their children.

After sending Hagoromo and Hamura away, Shishou approached Kaguya and said, "I've found Ōtsutsuki Isshiki."

Kaguya, hearing this news, was taken aback and shifted her gaze from the sky to Shishou.

At the beginning, she might have been thrilled to locate the severely injured Isshiki and eliminate this significant threat.

But now, she felt no joy.

Shishou had told her that once he helped her deal with Isshiki, his mission of traveling a thousand years to meet her would be complete.

To avoid altering the course of history, he would need her permission to seal her memory and return to his time.

They would meet again in a thousand years to face the Ōtsutsuki clan's pursuing forces together.

A thousand years...

After a long silence, Kaguya asked, "Where is he?"
