__________

Shiki sat between Ino and Hinata.

He sniffed and caught a pleasant scent coming from his left.

Ino was truly worthy of being the eldest daughter of the Yamanaka clan.

"Here."

Shiki skewered an octopus ball and brought it to Hinata's mouth.

"Thank you."

Hinata took the wooden skewer and whispered shyly.

Shiki then turned his head to see Ino looking at him expectantly.

He repeated the gesture, offering her an octopus ball.

Ino's lips curled up slightly, but instead of taking the skewer, she leaned forward. She opened her mouth, showing her white teeth, pressed her pink tongue against the octopus ball, and then bit down.

Sakura clenched her fists subconsciously.

Damn it!

She wished Sasuke would feed her like that too.

Unfortunately, that dream seemed impossible.

---

Sasuke, after landing from a high jump, found himself in a sand pit. He looked up at the stars, wondering if his current training would really work. Climbing up, he formed hand seals. Chakra gathered in his mouth and he unleashed it.

A fireball the size of a volleyball formed in the air, making Sasuke widen his eyes in surprise.

It's bigger!

His fireballs used to be only the size of ping-pong balls.

A small smile crept onto Sasuke's face. He believed it wouldn't be long before he could fully master the technique. When that time came, he would defeat Neji, then Shiki, and reign supreme in the ninja academy.

"Sasuke!"

Naruto's voice echoed from nearby.

Sasuke turned, only to twitch his eyelids at the sight of two figures in green tights.

"What's this?" Naruto asked, pointing at the high jump bar.

Sasuke leaped over the bar effortlessly and landed smoothly, "That's it," He said nonchalantly.

"That's awesome!" Naruto exclaimed, clearly excited, "What about the other techniques?"

Sasuke frowned slightly but figured he might as well demonstrate. After all, there was no getting rid of Naruto.

Watching from the side, Guy-sensei stroked his chin. He found the training interesting—at least it wasn't as monotonous as running. Leaping forward, Guy grabbed the horizontal bar with both hands and suspended himself upside down in mid-air.

Then, like a windmill, he began spinning rapidly.

Sasuke stood there, stunned.

---

"See you next time," Shiki said, waving goodbye to Ino and the others.

It was dusk.

The Chunin Exams had ended around three in the afternoon, but then Hiruzen had launched into a two-hour speech about the Will of Fire, which was absolute torture to sit through.

"I'm back, sensei."

Shiki opened the door and called out.

"Come here."

Tsunade sat on the sofa with her legs crossed, her long white legs swaying idly.

Shiki approached, confused. Her posture looked like she was ready to hold him accountable for something.

'Did I do something to annoy her?'

"The Thunder God's Sword."

Tsunade extended her pale hand.

Who reported him?

But on second thought, it had been a while, and it made sense that she'd have heard by now.

Shiki placed the sword in her hand.

Tsunade stared at it, lost in thought. The image of Tobirama Senju surfaced in her mind. Despite her admiration for Hashirama, it was her second grandfather, Tobirama, who had guided her more.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

Tsunade flicked his forehead lightly, "Weren't you worried something could happen?"

"It was just a Chunin matter." Shiki replied, feeling warmth from her concern.

"A true ninja always stays cautious." Tsunade lectured in a stern tone.

"Master, I get it!"

Shiki nodded obediently.

A forehead flick was manageable—thankfully, it wasn't one of her punches, or his small body wouldn't stand a chance.

Seeing him act so obediently, Tsunade couldn't stay angry anymore. He was too cute not to tease.

"I'll talk to the old man." She said, softening her tone.

"And if he doesn't agree?" Shiki asked, retrieving the Thunder God's Sword.

"He wouldn't dare disagree." Tsunade puffed out her chest proudly.

"You're amazing, sensei!" Shiki said, his face full of awe.

"You little rascal." Even though Tsunade knew he was just flattering her, she couldn't help but enjoy it.

She ruffled his hair, watching his expression freeze as he tried to dodge her hand.

"I'll go make dinner." Shiki said, retreating to the kitchen.

"Tch, dodging me already."

Tsunade clicked her tongue, watching him leave.

---

The next day, after breakfast, Tsunade headed to the Hokage's office.

Without any hesitation, she kicked the door open.

"Ahem."

Hiruzen jumped in his seat, coughing as he asked, "Tsunade, could you please knock for once?"

"Guilty conscience?" Tsunade replied, not mincing words.

"Of course not." Hiruzen said, swiftly changing the topic, "It's rare to see you here. Is this about your student, Shiki?"

What could he do? Tsunade was special, and her temper was something even he couldn't control.

"Yeah." Tsunade said, raising an eyebrow.

"Shiki prevented the Book of Seals and the Thunder God's Sword from being leaked. Don't you think that warrants a reward?"

Hiruzen was caught off guard and sighed helplessly. Typical Tsunade—never one to follow the rules. But it was nice to see her passionately arguing on behalf of someone again. Shiki had really done well, managing to keep her in Konoha.

"The so-called Hokage of the number one village in the ninja world couldn't even stop a Genin?" Tsunade mocked, "If it weren't for my student, Konoha would've been a laughingstock."

Her tone rose slightly when she said "my student," proud of Shiki's achievements.

"Accidents, all accidents." Hiruzen was a little embarrassed and said.

"Then give the Thunder God's Sword to Shiki as a reward."

"That's it?" Tsunade said, dissatisfied, "The Thunder God's Sword originally belonged to the Senju clan."

"The teacher was the Second Hokage." Hiruzen said with a hardened face, his tone serious, "His things are left for Konoha."

"I don't want to hear your long speeches." Tsunade frowned, clearly uninterested.

"Make this an A-rank mission and record it in Shiki's ninja file." Hiruzen thought for a moment and suggested, "What do you think?"

The ninja file, also known as a ninja's resume, becomes richer and more impressive over time. The more impressive the resume, the easier it is to gain the trust of employers and village officials, which would be helpful for Shiki's future.

But Tsunade knew the situation wasn't deserving of an A-rank rating. Hiruzen was doing this out of consideration for her.

"What about the reward?" Tsunade asked, nodding.

"Five hundred thousand." Hiruzen offered as a compromise.

"That works." Tsunade smiled slightly, "Give it to me, I'll keep it for him."

---

Shiki had no idea that Tsunade had just used the classic line mothers often say, "I'll keep your money safe for you."

But even if he knew, he wouldn't care. The money that Tsunade negotiated for was her effort, not his concern, and besides, he wasn't short of money. After all, Hinata often gave him pocket money.

As Shiki approached the Hyuga clan's estate, he was stopped at the entrance. Today, he had come to meet his financial backer, the cute little Hinata.

"I'm Hinata's classmate, Shiki." He introduced himself.

"Hold on." The young ninja at the gate said before turning and heading inside.

Inside, Hinata was practicing her gentle fist technique while her father, Hiashi, observed from a short distance away. Since awakening her Byakugan, Hinata's abilities had improved, making Hiashi somewhat satisfied with her progress, though she still wasn't as talented as Neji.
