-------------------------------------------------------------
A small droplet of glowing green liquid appeared tiny and insignificant compared to the enormous figure of Shukaku, who resembled a towering mountain. However, as the green droplet sped toward Shukaku, the arrogant beast became cautious.
"What is this aura!?" Shukaku questioned, sensing the power within the droplet.
Before it could finish speaking, the green liquid darted toward it and struck its body.
In what seemed like slow motion, the droplet, originally the size of a water droplet, exploded upon contact with Shukaku's body. In violation of the law of conservation of mass, the droplet expanded into a water curtain covering a range of several meters. The glowing green liquid drenched Shukaku.
"Ahhh!!!"
Suddenly, a gut-wrenching scream echoed through the area.
"Damn it, this is Kokuō's *Boil Release*!"
A massive hole appeared on Shukaku's stomach, corroded and charred, though no blood or flesh was visible. Sand continuously fell from the edges of the corroded pit.
Shukaku was on the verge of a furious rampage. His beastly eyes gleamed red, and his gigantic tail thrashed about, causing the ground to tremble with each movement.
From a distance, the Konoha ninjas watched in horror.
They were shocked by Shukaku's terrifying power, but even more astonished by how Aizen's casual attack had left the tailed beast in such a miserable state.
"This... is the strength of the former Fourth Sōsuke Aizen?" Some of the younger ninjas thought to themselves, their hearts shaken.
On the battlefield, Aizen remained indifferent and spoke calmly. "What a pity, Shukaku. I had hoped you would have more of an impact, but I see now your destruction is limited to this."
After speaking, he casually shook his head and added nonchalantly, "But it doesn't matter. Your presence here is enough. There are things I can no longer wait for."
Hearing Aizen's words, Shukaku roared in pain. "You bastard! How can you use Kokuō's techniques!?"
Aizen's lips curled into a slight smile as he chuckled, his eyes gleaming.
"Do you want to know why? Don't worry, I'll let you understand firsthand. After all, that's one of the reasons you're here in the first place. Since I granted you this brief freedom, it's only fair I collect some recompense, don't you think?"
For some reason, Shukaku, usually so arrogant, felt a faint sense of fear at Aizen's words. Just as Shukaku was debating whether to flee, several figures appeared on the rooftops of the intact buildings nearby.
Aizen's eyes narrowed slightly, and a smirk appeared on his face as he laughed softly.
"What a coincidence, my old acquaintances have all gathered here. But before we catch up, I must ask: what is your purpose in coming here?"
Under the moonlight, the figures on the rooftops were revealed to be Jiraiya, Tsunade, Orochimaru, Hatake Sakumo, and Maito Dai, who had just found his way back.
Upon hearing Aizen's question, Sakumo stood atop one of the rooftops, his face cold and resolute.
His black-and-white eyes were locked onto Aizen, all traces of past weariness and sorrow gone, replaced by sheer determination.
"Aizen, I have one purpose in coming here—to kill you!" Sakumo spoke with a solemn expression, his voice filled with unshakable resolve.
Although Sakumo only had one arm, that did not stop the overwhelming killing intent he directed at Aizen.
Aizen, noticing this, chuckled softly, his gaze flashing with amusement.
"Impressive progress, Sakumo. Your eyes now shine with admirable resolve. That's right, continue hating me. Think of every possible way to kill me."
He smiled as he continued.
"After all, it's only through that hatred that you'll gain the strength to avenge your fallen comrades, isn't it?"
Hearing this, Sakumo's pupils shrank. His long-repressed hatred almost caused him to lose control and charge at Aizen.
Fortunately, Tsunade's stern shout at the last moment snapped him back to reality.
Aizen, watching the scene unfold, laughed softly and commented.
"So, the persuasion failed? Lucky you, Sakumo. You narrowly avoided death. If you disrupt my fun, I'll make you pay with your life."
Aizen's smile was calm as he spoke, almost as if he were casually chatting with Sakumo, but everyone who heard him felt a chill run through their hearts.
What is this man planning?
Tsunade, however, didn't pay much attention to Aizen's words. She cast a hateful glance at him before turning to address Nawaki, who stood among Aizen's group.
"Nawaki, do you even know what you're doing!? If you continue to help Aizen, the village Grandpa built will be destroyed in this war!"
Tsunade's face was tense, her fists clenched, and her eyes fixed on Nawaki in the distance.
Nawaki, hearing her voice, slowly raised his head. A flicker of complex emotions passed through his eyes, but his gaze ultimately remained firm. He spoke calmly to Tsunade, despite the distance.
"Sister, you don't understand Grandpa's true vision. On the contrary, I believe following Aizen will allow us to build the world Grandpa always dreamed of. For that vision, I'm willing to be the pioneer."
As Nawaki finished speaking, Tsunade and Jiraiya's faces darkened, forced to accept the worst.
So, Nawaki is willingly by Aizen's side...
At this moment, Aizen's deep eyes swept over the group before him as he spoke softly.
"This war has dragged on for a while now. I suspect Konoha has suffered significant losses by this point. Otherwise, why hasn't the Third Hokage appeared to stop Shukaku?"
His words caused everyone present to feel a jolt of realization.
He's right. Why hasn't the Third Hokage acted against Shukaku? There could only be one reason...
The Third Hokage must be dealing with something even more important.
As Aizen observed the surprise on their faces, his eyes gleamed, and he swiftly formed hand signs. He pressed his fingers to his lips, then slammed his hand onto the ground and said in a deep voice.
"Summoning Jutsu!"
With his command, a massive white cloud of smoke rose into the air.
Everyone watched in astonishment as the smoke cleared. Aizen, glancing at what had appeared, smiled faintly.
"People of Konoha, let's resolve our matters elsewhere. Leave this place to them."
