Chapter 287: Chapter 285 : Inuyama Katsu!!

For a moment, the battlefield was divided into two parts.

Gen Chisei and Kazama Ruri, a pair with an unclear and complicated relationship, fiercely fought under the night sky.

Both wielded alchemical swords, and with every clash, brilliant sparks flew. Their full-force attacks were like a relentless storm, or the sound of crashing waves, powerful and unyielding.

With every swing of their swords, both were determined to kill the other.

They were like two bloodthirsty beasts in the jungle, ignoring their injuries, desperately trying to hunt each other down. They aimed to tear through each other's skin with sharp fangs, rip away flesh, crush bones, and slowly swallow the pieces, erasing all traces of the other's existence.

To the onlookers, it might seem like these two had some deep, bitter grudge.

However, Sakura, who was there to assist Gen Chisei, knew the truth. The two were once supposed to be the closest of brothers, but because of certain circumstances, they had ended up on completely opposite paths.

"Gen Chimei!"

"I told you, my name is Kazama Ruri!"

Clang!

Their swords clashed again.

In their golden eyes, they saw each other's reflection.

Gen Chisei held his sword in both hands, slicing upward at an angle. The blade cut through the air with a sharp, ear-piercing whistle.

Kazama Ruri blocked with his sword horizontally, but the overwhelming force of the strike pushed him back several steps. His wrist trembled, and it felt as if a heavy steamroller had just passed over him. The power was incredible.

The sharp sword energy spread out, leaving crisscrossing cracks on the hard ground, like a spider's web.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the battlefield, Caesar and Chu Zihang faced off against the modified "Oni Clan" members. The situation quickly tilted in their favor.

The roaring flames engulfed the distorted figures of the enemies, and Chu Zihang...

Caesar pulled the trigger. His favorite Desert Eagle roared, spitting bright flames in the dark. The energy surged from the barrel, sending out rotating brass bullets that, guided by the power of his Word Soul, "Kama Itachi," hit their targets with pinpoint accuracy every time. They were picking off the ambushing Oni Clan members one by one.

Although it was their first time working together, they were completely in sync, showing no sign of unfamiliarity.

Suddenly, Kazama Ruri seemed to sense something. He abruptly looked up toward one side.

At the end of the dark night, on the asphalt highway, the faint moonlight shone down, stretching the figure ahead into a long shadow.

A powerful force surged forward like a mountain collapsing or a tsunami crashing. In an instant, everyone present felt as though a huge invisible mountain was pressing down on them, as if they were deep in the ocean, with the air thick like sticky resin.

As the figure drew closer, the smooth asphalt road began to crack and split, groaning under the strain.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

The asphalt was breaking apart, as if a giant beast had stomped on it.

Soon, thanks to a small break in the clouds, the crowd could finally see the person approaching. It was an elderly man with gray hair, not particularly tall or muscular, wearing a simple black cloak and white socks, walking in wooden clogs. He looked like an ordinary old man from Japan.

However, this seemingly ordinary old man caused a sense of dread in Kazama Ruri.

Kazama Ruri's golden eyes, usually filled with ferocity, suddenly shrank to the size of needles.

At about ten meters away, the old man stopped. His eyes seemed to burn with an unquenchable fire, a pure golden glow flowing within them, carrying unimaginable cruelty and power. Despite his frail appearance, a single glance from him froze the entire chaotic battlefield.

"I'm not in the mood for games today," the old man said calmly, without a hint of emotion, as if talking about everyday matters. "You have thirty seconds to disappear from my sight, or you can stay here."

Kazama Ruri, with a sigh of regret, sheathed her long red blade. She gave Adam, hiding behind the others, a teasing look and laughed lightly, saying, "Looks like you won't be going back today. But it's alright, Osho said you'd come eventually."

"Ten seconds left," the head of the Inuyama family muttered, lifting his cloak to reveal the sword at his side.

His voice was cold and full of killing intent, like a ghostly presence in the dead of night, making the temperature in the street drop sharply.

Seeing this, Kazama Ruri no longer hesitated. He knew what would happen if he stayed any longer.

"Adam Angelwid, next time we meet, you'll understand."

Before leaving, Kazama Ruri made sure to leave those words behind and then retreated into the night.

"One second."

As the countdown ended, the head of the Inuyama family's aura shifted dramatically, as if he were the awakened Mount Fuji.

The violent and brutal energy that surged from him was like a beast from ancient times. His golden, ferocious eyes gleamed brightly. He then grabbed the hilt of the sword at his waist and exhaled a cloud of dark breath.

The next moment, a sharp sound of an explosion shattered the silent night.

Everything within a hundred-meter radius seemed to be swept by a tornado, as a fierce wind howled through, creating a visible storm.

The intense blade light, invisible to the naked eye, poured out like a raging river. It shimmered with brilliant silver, moving like mercury, unstoppable and engulfing the 'ghosts' that had surrounded them.

In an instant—no, in the blink of an eye—those people were reduced to nothing but chunks of meat.

A torrent of blood splattered across the asphalt road, while the elderly man in the black cloak slowly sheathed his sword. His eyes were downcast, expressionless, as if nothing had happened.

Of course, this was only true if one ignored the hundreds of deep, clear slashes in the asphalt road that spread outward from where he stood.

"Inuyama family head, what brings you here?"

Gen Chisei spat out blood, his already pale face growing even more ashen.

Clearly, his fight with Kazama Ruri had not been easy.

"I was sent here by Mr. Masamune."

The Inuyama family head explained briefly and then looked toward the three individuals from Cassel. Calmly, he said, "On behalf of the Yamata no Orochi Families, I apologize for what happened tonight. The Yamata no Orochi Families will soon give you three a satisfactory explanation and response."

"Who is this?"

Caesar put away his playful expression. He still held great respect for elders, especially powerful ones.

"My apologies, let me introduce him."

Gen Chisei adjusted his appearance and then said seriously, "This is Mr. Inuyama Katsu, the current head of the Inuyama family, one of the Yamata no Orochi Families. He is also the first Director of the Japanese Executive Bureau."

"Please, go ahead."

Inuyama Katsu gave a brief glance at the blonde young man wearing glasses. His eyes briefly flashed with an unreadable meaning before he continued, "The representative of the Yamata no Orochi Families has already prepared a formal welcome ceremony for the three newly arrived special envoys in Takamagahara. Please, follow me."
