Chapter 9: 9
The war escalated, and even Konoha Village wasn't spared from its impact.
A heavy haze of war loomed over the village, filling everyone with anxiety and uncertainty.
But then—news arrived.
Lord Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, had defeated the forces of Kumogakure.
In response, the Raikage proposed peace talks with Konoha.
Unlike later wars, this wasn't a chaotic free-for-all.
Kumogakure attacked Konoha.
Kirigakure and Iwagakure were locked in brutal conflict.
Sunagakure behaved like a hungry hyena, attacking anyone it could.
If Konoha and Kumogakure's peace talks succeeded, the war would effectively end for Konoha.
As soon as the news spread, the long-suppressed tension in Konoha finally eased.
Inside his room, Kenichi sat cross-legged on his bed, meditating and absorbing nature energy.
At the same time, Huang Ryome lay on the table, happily chewing on a roasted chicken drumstick while smoking his pipe.
The smell of seasoned meat filled the air as the weasel spoke up lazily.
"Oi, Kenichi."
Kenichi opened his eyes.
"What's up,Ryome?"
Huang Ryome took another bite of chicken, then tapped his pipe against the table.
"You've been making decent progress lately. Even though your Sage Jutsu training is slow, your other abilities have improved quite a bit."
Kenichi smirked.
"Well, I've got a good teacher."
Huang Ryome ignored the flattery and continued.
"But… something's missing."
Kenichi raised an eyebrow.
"Missing? What do you mean?"
Huang Ryome exhaled a cloud of smoke.
"You're training well, but you lack actual combat experience."
Kenichi frowned.
"But I've been following your training methods."
He wasn't slacking off—he practiced daily, refining Chakra control, Sage Jutsu, and even his Lightning Style: Chakra Mode and Fire Dragon Flame Bullet techniques.
In fact, to avoid drawing attention, he had trained outside Konoha, in the Huangpizi Tomb—the sacred land of the Huang Weasel Clan, similar to Mount Myōboku.
There, he had perfected his ninjutsu, away from prying eyes.
But Huang Ryome shook his head.
"Training is just theory. You need to fight real enemies."
Kenichi narrowed his eyes.
"So, what are you suggesting?"
Huang Ryome grinned mischievously.
"The ninja war is happening right now. Go experience it firsthand."
Kenichi stiffened.
"You want me to… go to war?"
The weasel waved his pipe dismissively.
"Who said anything about fighting for Konoha?"
He smacked Kenichi's forehead with his pipe.
"Just go to the battlefield and start fights. If you run into Konoha shinobi, pretend to be from another village. If you fight the enemy, pretend to be Konoha's ally."
Kenichi's jaw dropped.
"Wait—so you want me to be a war stirrer?!"
"Exactly."
Kenichi rubbed his chin, considering it.
It was risky, but it made sense.
"Problem is, Konoha is under strict martial law. If I sneak out, I'll be marked as a deserter or traitor."
He had no intention of throwing away his civilian identity for now.
Huang Ryome chuckled.
"That's easy. I'll leave first, then use reverse summoning to teleport you to me."
Kenichi snapped his fingers.
"Alright. Let's do it.
Under the cover of night, Huang Ryome left Konoha.
Sometime later, Kenichi felt a pull on his body—
And the next thing he knew, he was in a completely unfamiliar place.
Kenichi poked his head out from inside a tree hollow, his eyes scanning the surroundings.
"Where the hell am I?"
Huang Ryome, sitting nearby, puffed his pipe.
"We're near the battlefield."
Kenichi felt his stomach tighten.
The reality of being in an actual warzone was starting to sink in.
He was just a civilian in his past life—he had never seen real combat, never killed, never even witnessed death up close.
But now—he was about to experience all of it firsthand.
Taking a deep breath, Kenichi steadied himself.
"I'll be fine."
Huang Ryome smirked.
"Good. I can sense a fight nearby. Let's go."
The sounds of jutsu clashing echoed through the forest.
Kenichi hid behind a tree, observing.
Two groups of ninja were engaged in battle.
One side was using Water Style jutsu—Mist shinobi from Kirigakure.
The other side was unleashing Earth Style jutsu—Stone shinobi from Iwagakure.
Kenichi's eyes widened.
"So, this is a battle between Kirigakure and Iwagakure…"
Huang Ryome yawned lazily.
"Eh, I just picked a battlefield randomly. Who cares?"
Kenichi rolled his eyes.
"Whatever. But before I join, I need to change my appearance."
With a flicker of transformation jutsu, his appearance shifted.
His skin darkened, his muscles thickened, and his features resembled a strong Kumo ninja.
Huang Ryome raised a brow.
"That's pretty convincing. You look like you belong to Kumogakure."
Kenichi grinned.
"Well, if I'm going to be using Lightning Style: Chakra Mode, I might as well look the part."
Huang Ryome nodded approvingly.
"Boy, you've got style."
Kenichi watched the ongoing battle.
Then, he took a deep breath—and activated his Lightning Style: Chakra Mode.
A violent surge of blue lightning wrapped around his body, amplifying his speed and strength.
The moment his chakra flared, the fighting shinobi noticed him.
"Who's there?!"
Kenichi grinned and charged forward.
"Take this—ELBOW STRIKE!"
