Naruto: Reborn as Sakura with Manyuu Chifusa Template

Chapter 164: The Fourth Hokage's Signature Jutsu

The members of Team 3 and 7 had gathered on the edge of a cliff that overlooked the entrance to Katabami mine, not too far from the village. Sakura peered over the edge— under the Kurosuki family's watchful eye, the enslaved villagers below milled back and forth, carrying heavy rocks from the mine to the village's makeshift ore processing plant.

In Sakura's time, cyanidation was the go-to method to extract gold from ore, but in olden times, mercury amalgamation had been the most popular method. The soil surrounding the village was highly contaminated with the liquid metal, and it showed— tortured husks were all that were left of once verdant trees, and there wasn't even a single blade of grass in sight…

Sadly, vegetation wasn't the only thing that had been affected by the Kurosuki family's violent takeover of the gold mine. Piles of freshly dug up earth littered the path from the village to the mine— each one marked shallow grave, in which a hapless villager had been buried alive…

"Well, if you really were paying attention to what I was saying," said Sakura, prudently backing away from the edge of the cliff, "then you won't mind repeating back to me what I just told you… right, Naruto?"

To accentuate the point that she was trying to make, Sakura put her hands on her hips, causing her chest to jiggle slightly. Naruto's eyes flickered back and forth between Sakura's eyes and her cleavage— he was desperately trying to keep his gaze level, but he couldn't help but look…

"We're not academy students any more, Sakura-chan," said Naruto in a huff. "You said: Don't hurt the guy in the photo. I'm not gonna mess up, ya know!"

Sakura snorted— Naruto, reliable? He was a long way off from becoming the village's hero… Maybe if he could resist sneaking a peek every minute or so, she would be inclined to believe him!

"And that goes for you too, Sasuke," Sakura added, turning to him. "Don't run Karashi through with your Chidori."

Sasuke let out a noncommittal grunt of acknowledgement, which was about as much of an answer as Sakura could have ever hoped to obtain from him.

"Do not worry, Sakura!" exclaimed Lee, giving her a thumbs up. "I will see to it that Karashi is returned to his mother unharmed!"

Incidentally, the so-called Karashi was Madam Sanshō's son.

Karashi yearned to become someone truly strong, but he was also a coward and a liar whose bark was louder than his bite— he had joined the Kurosuki thugs to make himself feel bigger than he actually was, and to lord over the other villagers.

Truthfully, Karashi was trash of the worst variety, but Sakura still wanted to bring him back to Konoha along with Ranmaru, purely because of his cooking skills. If the Curry of Life Shop opened a branch in Konoha, she would be able to recover from the Breast Diet much faster! After all, ramen was good and everything, but Sakura didn't want to develop hypertension by age 20!

And speaking of things that could give you a heart attack…

"I just went to the mines for a quick look around," said Tenten, as she suddenly popped into existence next to Lee; her arrival heralded by the Flying Thunder God Jutsu's signature sound effect. "It looks like Raiga's got some visitors— one tall guy wearing a mask who carries a big sword on his back, and one masked girl half his size. They look pretty strong."

Sakura kneaded her brow, trying to remember as much information as she could from a filler episode she had forgotten about long ago. Tenten's descriptions didn't ring any bells, but if those visitors weren't worth remembering, then surely they couldn't be that strong…

"Oh, and try not to react, but they already know we're here," added Tenten. "The Kurosuki family should be on its way to ambush us, but we should be able to turn the tables if we take them by surprise…"

To avoid revealing her identity as a Returner, Tenten neglected to mention how she knew that the enemy had already located them. To reveal Ranmaru's existence at this point would betray her knowledge of the future, after all!

"How proficient are you with the Flying Thunder God, Tenten?" Sakura queried.

"I'm not a very good sensor," Tenten admitted. "Depending on how close they are, it can take me between seven and ten seconds to locate my Jutsu Formulas— at best five, if I close my eyes to concentrate."

To master the Flying Raijin to the Fourth Hokage's level, five things were necessary:

Fūinjutsu proficiency: to engrave one's Jutsu Formulas, which anchor the user to the designated coordinates, as long as they're still in the same dimension.

Exceptional motors reflexes: to use the Jutsu effectively in combat.

Sensory Jutsu mastery: to locate the Jutsu Formulas and for general battlefield awareness.

Lots of chakra: self-explanatory.

Pinnacle of Space-Time affinity: to actually qualify to use the Jutsu.

To even possess Space-Time affinity was extraordinarily rare, but since Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke could all use the Summoning Jutsu, it meant that all three of them had varying degrees of affinity towards it… just not to the extent of them being able to use the Flying Thunder God Jutsu.

Tenten, on the other hand, possessed the highest tier of Space-Time affinity, but due to her rather ordinary ability to control her chakra, Returner Tenten wasn't very good at Sensory Jutsu. Furthermore, her nerve conduction velocity wasn't an aspect of herself that she could train, so she was only able to use the Jutsu outside of combat.

In all likelihood, nobody would ever surpass the Fourth Hokage's mastery of the Second Hokage's Jutsu— Minato truly was one in a billion!

"In that case, how about we do things like this?" Sakura proposed. "Naruto, Lee and Sasuke will walk into the ambush, while Tenten and I teleport behind enemy lines to flank them— we'll hit them when they're least expecting it."

"Sounds good to me!" exclaimed Lee, flashing Sakura a brilliant smile. "I will not let you down!"

Naruto was a bit depressed that he wouldn't be fighting alongside Sakura, but other than that, he and Sasuke were fine with the plan as well.

"So, if everyone's properly wrapped themselves up in steel wire," said Sakura, her eyes flashing, "then the Kurosuki family elimination mission… starts now!"
