----------

The afternoon sun, bathed the Hidden Leaf Village in a warm glow, but the remnants of the Konoha Crush incident were still evident. Buildings were in various stages of reconstruction, with scaffolding and construction materials scattered around. The village bustled with activity, but there was an underlying sense of unrest.

Tsunade could hear the faint cries of children, mingled with the murmurs of anxious villagers and the clanging of their hammers. From her office within the Hokage Tower, she sighed, setting aside yet another completed document from the towering piles of paperwork on her desk. The duties of the Hokage were never-ending, and today was no exception.

Her concentration was interrupted by a sudden flash of blue. Tsunade's eyes flickered momentarily, assessing the unexpected arrival. Her sharp gaze dismissed him as a threat almost instantly. With a composed sigh, she returned to her work.

Raido had materialized before her, urgency etched on his face. He was taking a knee, the burn mark below his left eye adding to his rugged, battle-hardened presence. "I bring urgent news, Lord Hokage," he declared, his voice resonating with solemnity.

Tsunade's calligraphy brush glided methodically across the parchment. Every single document before her bore the weight of countless lives, a testament to the power wielded by the Hokage. Every approval, every signature, held the potential to alter the destinies of many and shape the future of the hidden leaf village and even the entire ninja world. "What is it, Raido?" she asked, her voice firm and authoritative, her eyes never leaving the parchment in front of her.

Raido took a deep breath, steadying himself before delivering the news. "A genin, Kiba Inuzuka, sought us out and requested our immediate support. We complied and followed behind him. Our objective was to find and rescue Garm, who was last seen under persuit towards the northern borders of the land of fire."

He began, his tone filled with urgency. "Kiba reported an ambush led by a group of unknown individuals cloaked in red. According to him, these figures could recover from any injury, fatal or otherwise, in mere moments, although how they managed this feat remains unknown, perhaps an advanced medical ninjutsu or a kekegenkai founded in healing. Other than that, he could not provide anything about their origin or intent."

She paused, the brush's bristles hovered over the parchment, drops of ink collecting at its tips dripped sporadically. With a practiced motion, Tsunade activated an array of seals, cutting off the ambient noise, encasing them in a cocoon of silence. She gently placed the brush into its case, ensuring it was secure before lifting her gaze and locking onto his.

"Continue," she commanded, her voice the only sound breaking the heavy silence. Raido lowered his eyes, avoiding her stare. The intensity of the moment was palpable, a stark contrast to the once bustling atmosphere of the room.

Raido's chest tightened as he cleared his throat. "Shortly after, we observed a Tailed Beast bomb erupt in the sky, an unmistakable sign that a Tailed Beast's power had been unleashed. This alarming development prompted us to split up. Shizune and I advanced towards the origin of the explosion, while Genma accompanied Kiba in his continued search for Garm."

Tsunade's eyes momentarily narrowed as she listened to Raido's report. 'Naruto,... I hope this has nothing to do with you.'

Her fingers clasped around her fist, hovering over her mouth, concealing her darkening expressions. Her elbows, planted firmly on the desk, exuded a composed yet authoritative stance. "And,... what did you find?" she asked, her voice unwavering.

Raido's voice grew more urgent. "We found Shikamaru Nara, severely wounded lying in a pool of his own blood. Luckily, Shizune managed to stabilize him, pulling him back from the brink of death. For a moment, he regained a shred of his strength only to utter about the failure of their mission. Before he could say any more, he fainted."

Tsunade's thoughts were in turmoil. 'Sasuke... so we've lost what little was left of the Uchiha.' The weight of this mission's failure bore down on her, and she could already foresee the troubles the elders and civilian council would make for her.

Those old fossils, Homura Mitokado and Koharu Utatane, with their conservative views, would question her every decision, the civilian council would demand an explanation, all to undermine her authority and Danzo... Danzo would definitely seize this opportunity to further his own twisted agenda. The tension within her built, but she maintained a composed exterior, preparing herself for the inevitable onslaught.

Raido continued, "soon after we came upon Neji in a field destroyed beyond recognition. He was in a state worse than Shikamaru, yet he managed to hold on to his consciousness, and with good reason. He had witnessed something scarring that he might not overcome. Hinata Hyuga, the daughter of Hiashi Hyuga.... has, fallen in battle. And-"

Tsunade shot up from her seat, the chair clattering to the ground behind her. "What?! Why didn't you inform me sooner?!" she shouted, her voice echoing through the room. Her eyes blazed with outrage, her hands trembled slightly as she gripped the edge of the table. "This, is a disaster..... How could this... Who did this!"

Raido raised his gaze, he could only avoid her glare for so long. "From what I've gathered it was the very same group kiba discribed, a few of their corpses littered the surrounding areas of the battlefield," he said, retrieving a scroll strapped to his lower back. "Before my return, I gathered them and sealed them within this scroll." Raido unfurled it and from its pages, unsealed a single corpse covered in worn bandages hidden beneath a crimson cloak.

Tsunade took a deep breath as she massaged her brows, trying to calm her nerves. "Call off the mission immediately and recall the rest of the genin. We can't afford any more casualties."

Raido continued, "Please wait, Lord Fifth, there's more. Neji had also informed us that the Naruto Uzumaki has been abducted by a Sound kunoichi. The kunoichi in question has also been reported to be in possession of Hinata Hyuga's remains."

Tsunade's fist crashed through her desk with a thunderous impact, obliterating it into two equally unrecognizable piles of scattered splinters. Documents flew and ink sprayed across the room, some of it Splattered on Raido's face. Instinctively, he flinched, shielding his face from the flying debris.

Tsunade heaved heavily like an enraged beast's guttural growl, she fixed Raido with a glare that could pierce steel. "What, did you say... first Hinata's dead... and now Naruto has been taken?... Tell me you're joking," she snarled, her voice dripping with fury. The intensity of her chakra filled the room, stretching each second in the electrified momentum that followed her words.

Raido shook his head solemnly. "...No... I'm afraid not, when we arrived it was already over... There was nothing we could have done."

Tsunade's eyes blazed with a mix of rage as she stared out the window, beyond the confines of the village she had sworn to protect. "This... is my fault, my burden to bear. I'm heading out! The least I can do is bring him back," she declared, her fists clenched tightly. She turned on her heel and started walking purposefully towards the door, each step resonating with determination.

Raido moved swiftly to block her path, raising his hands in a calming gesture. "Please, Lord Hokage, you mustn't. The village needs you here."

Tsunade's breathing grew heavier as she wrestled against the urge to blow Raido's head off his shoulders. "Move aside, this responsibility falls on my shoulders, as the Hokage I can't sit back and watch this go on any longer!" she said, her voice cracking with the weight of her emotions.

'It's just as Shizune said, I have to calm her down before she does anything rash'. Raido's expression stiffened when he came face to face with one of the famed legendary sannin, but his resolve remained firm, "I-I understand, Lord Hokage. But you are an integral pillar that holds up the village. We need you, without you the village would fall apart, crumbling under its own weight. Place your trust in us as we are one in purpouse. We will handle this mission in your stead, the village truly can't afford to be without your guidance."

Tsunade took in deep breaths, trying to calm the storm within her. Her eyes blazed with a fierce intensity as she stared out the window, the village she had sworn to protect laid out before her. "Damn it! I don't have any time for this, Tori!" she barked, her voice slicing through the tension like a blade.

From the shadows, an ANBU operative wearing a bird mask materialized and knelt. He wore the standard ANBU uniform: a black jumpsuit, armored shoulder plates, gloves, and a grey flak jacket. His avian mask concealed his piercing eyes, and short, dark hair was hidden beneath it.

Strapped to his back was his weapon of choice: a katana.

"Yes, Lord Hokage," the ANBU member acknowledged.

"Summon the elders and the respective clan heads for an emergency meeting" Tsunade ordered. The ANBU operative nodded and vanished into the shadows to carry out her command.

Without missing a beat, Tsunade turned to another corner of the room. "Bring forth a unit of elite ANBU operatives," she commanded, her tone carrying the gravity of the situation.

There was a subtle shift in the shadows as the room emptied momentarily. Shortly after, a group of elite ANBU operatives flickered into the room one after the other, each one kneeling before her. Their masks concealed their identities, but not their readiness. The room filled with a palpable tension as they awaited her orders.

"How the hell did such a large number of intruders manage to slip past our border patrol and cause such damage right under our noses?" Tsunade's voice thundered, her anger almost palpable. "This, is unacceptable! Find out how this happened immediately something of this sort can't be allowed to happen again. But above all, you are to prioritize Naruto's safe retrieval, leave no stone unturned. No matter the cost, bring him back to the village." Her eyes blazed with unyielding rage and she dismissed them "Move out!"

The ANBU flickered out of existence, their forms dissolving into thin air as they executed their orders in pin drop silence.

Tsunade turned to Raido and, with a commanding tone, began issuing a list of duties. "Take those bodies to the Death O.P.S. Division. Tell them to prioritize memory retrieval. Their second priority is to identify the origin of the bodies and bring those two pieces of information directly to me as soon as possible. What's done after that, I'll leave up to them. Rest if you need, then rejoin Shizune, gather and ensure the safety of the genin on their way back to Konoha. I won't sacrifice them over the whims of a traitor."

"As you wish, Lord Fifth." Raido channeled his chakra into the sealing scroll, causing the lines of intricate seals to glow for a moment before they liftet off the pages, binding the body resting atop like a rope made of ink, gradually pulling it back into the scroll. Once the process was complete, Raido furled the scroll and placed a set of additional security seals on it. With a respectful nod, he vanished in a flash of blue light, leaving the room as swiftly as he had appeared.

Time stood still as she stood there in her office, left with nothing to do but wait. Turning back she stormed past her shattered desk, her eyes locking onto the chair that lay discarded on the floor. With a forceful motion, she righted the chair and positioned it to face the window overlooking the village.

As she brought her trembling hands in front of her, vivid images flashed in her mind overwhelming her sense of reality. Blood, thick and dark, coated her hands, overflowing and pooling beneath her. The metallic scent filled her nose. She collapsed into the chair, her body folding in on itself as she clutched her head between her blood-soaked hands.

"AAAHHHhhh!!! It's happening again!...., because of me!...." she screamed, her voice breaking. Her cry echoed with anguish, her hands trembling as she clutched her head. Tears welled up in her eyes, spilling over and cascading down her cheeks.. Every decision she made, only seemed to lead to more loss. The Hokage, a title she once revered, now feltw2plike a cage restricted her every action.

Behind her, documents lay scattered across the floor. The crimson, red liquid flowed through them, slithering across the papers with an almost deliberate intent. Gradually, it seeped into the documents, painting a canvas of letters on the overlapping parchments, one after the other until it spelled out the word "Blood" in a haunting script. The dark stains slowly expanded, creeping to every corner of the page, turning the entire surface a deep, ominous red.

As a cruel trick of the mind, when reality snapped back into place, the blood vanished in an instant, leaving the papers pristine and unmarked, reverting everything back to its original state, leaving Tsunade alone with her thoughts, haunted by the echoes of her past.
