Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The Villagers Have Never Seen the Nine-Tails Fox
Naruto set his dinner on the table, the ticking of the clock echoing in the quiet room, giving him a sense of being lost in time.
It had been several years since he arrived in this world. Although Naruto had grown accustomed to being alone, he couldn't help but feel a bit empty inside.
Looking down at the pork chop in his bento box, Naruto picked it up with his chopsticks and took a bite, mentally narrating his own life.
[Constitution +1.]
Over the years, Naruto had eaten countless meals made by the system within the sealed space, but the effects were far less noticeable compared to eating outside.
Well, Naruto figured it made sense. After all, the "him" inside the sealed space was just a projection of his consciousness.
As for the food in the system that glowed in all sorts of unnatural colors...
He didn't dare eat any of that stuff outside. The buffs and bonuses they granted were simply too overpowered. Naruto was genuinely afraid that if he ate it, his body might just explode.
He was, after all, still training this "new account" and didn't want to mess around recklessly.
As for the tools in his inventory...
When he first tried to take out a one-cubic-meter stone block and use it in the real world, he quickly realized something crucial: a six-year-old's body couldn't handle it.
Out of sheer curiosity, Naruto had pulled out a block of raw stone, but because he couldn't lift it, the stone crashed through the wooden floor, creating a hole that went right through to the lower level of his building.
The poor civilian living downstairs had nearly died of fright.
Who would have thought that, in the dead of night, a giant block of stone would fall from their ceiling?
To make matters worse, the stone had gone right through the roofs of two homes. If Naruto had placed the stone just thirty centimeters to the left, he would have achieved the "Killing Spree" achievement.
If it weren't for the Third Hokage compensating and apologizing profusely to the affected families, even going so far as to relocate them to new homes, the villagers would have stormed the Hokage's office in protest.
Since then, Naruto had been the sole resident of his apartment building.
He also came to understand just how dangerous the system he possessed truly was.
He hadn't even started using other items yet! Just one block of stone nearly led to a three-fold disaster. It was downright terrifying.
Naruto didn't even dare to drink the milk from his system. What if, under the real world's rules, drinking it somehow erased the Nine-Tails inside him? He would be devastated.
Sometimes, being too overpowered came with its own set of troubles...
Still, the more "normal" foods in his system could be safely consumed, and they did enhance his strength.
This was made evident one winter day when Naruto single-handedly defeated several kids older than him and saved his future wife, Hinata. His physique was already far beyond that of an average person.
As for the other items in his inventory, Naruto figured he would wait until he was older before experimenting with them. He didn't want to risk accidentally destroying the entire Leaf Village—or even the whole ninja world.
KNOCK KNOCK
"Little Naruto, are you home?"
"Grandpa's here to see you!"
The sudden knock on the door was followed by the familiar voice of the Third Hokage.
"I'm coming!"
Naruto quickly shoveled two more bites of food into his mouth, tossed the bento box into the sink, wiped his mouth, and hurried toward the door.
Before opening it, Naruto rubbed his face with his hands, putting on an innocent, carefree expression.
It was truly exhausting for someone with an adult soul to have to act like a child in front of the Third Hokage all the time...
"Hurry up author and let school arc start already!" Naruto shouted inwardly as he slowly opened the door.
"Hello, Third Grandpa."
"Little Naruto, Grandpa's here to see you again," the Third Hokage said with a kind smile, raising his hand to ruffle Naruto's hair.
Naruto's face immediately turned red with annoyance, and he quickly dodged, giving the Third no chance to touch his head.
Seeing the boy avoid him, the Third chuckled, not taking it to heart. Kids will be kids...
His own grandson, Konohamaru, was also quite the handful.
It was no big deal.
"Here's your allowance for the month, and this..."
The Third Hokage took a few bills from his pocket, along with Naruto's admission notice for the ninja academy, and placed them on the table.
The Third couldn't help but feel perplexed about Naruto's strange bloodline limit.
A few years ago, when Naruto summoned a block of stone that nearly crushed several innocent villagers, the Third realized there was something... special about the boy's abilities.
At first, he thought Naruto had awakened some kind of Earth Release bloodline limit, but over time, he discovered it wasn't that simple...
Naruto could summon not just stones, but also dirt, seeds, hoes, axes—anything, really. Even animals and various household items.
One could say Naruto had an unparalleled talent for farming.
There were moments when the Third Hokage thought it would be a shame if Naruto didn't take up agriculture...
But the real problem was...
His father was the Fourth Hokage, the Yellow Flash of the ninja world, a man whose very name struck fear in the hearts of enemies.
And his mother was from the Uzumaki Clan, a master of sealing techniques with few competitions in the entire ninja world.
As for him....
He is Leaf Village's greatest weapon, the jinchūriki of the strongest tailed beast, meant to become the village's most powerful asset...
Not its future pig farmer!
'What kind of ridiculous bloodline limit is this?'
The Third had spent two nights pondering the mystery, but came up with nothing.
In the end, Naruto's strange bloodline limit wasn't entirely useless. But for a ninja, it was close to it.
What could he possibly do in battle? Summon an axe in front of a stunned enemy?
We're all ninjas here—what are you going to do with an axe? Chop down a tree to make the enemy laugh to death?
Or are you expecting a wooden axe to break through their defenses?
If word got out, people would think the Leaf Village was too poor to provide its ninjas with kunai!
"I understand, Grandpa. I'm really looking forward to starting school," Naruto said, trying to maintain his innocent act, even as he carved a miniature model of a Minecraft character.
Sometimes he wondered if Minato had dropped him on his head as a baby, leading to all these strange behaviors.
"Little Naruto, make sure you go outside during the day. Get to know some new friends. Don't stay cooped up in here all the time."
Go outside? To do what exactly? Get showered with the venomous words of villagers who still blamed him for the Nine-Tails attack? Or maybe to bask in the warm, hateful stares they sent his way?
'I'd rather stay inside and watch the fox', Naruto thought.
"I got it, Grandpa."
Naruto tilted his head, smiling sweetly, but inwardly he cursed: 'Just leave already Old Man!''
Glancing at the clock, Naruto decided to finish carving his miniature figure first.
After all, in a few more hours, the streets would be quiet, and no one would be out walking around.
It wasn't like Third Hokage hadn't tried to talk to him repeatedly. If he didn't go out, they'd think it was a problem with his attitude.
But the Third Hokage was becoming more and more annoying...
He didn't really bring him much food after the Fourth died, and now he had people spying on him. There were even rumors that Naruto was the reincarnation of the Nine-Tails demon fox...
Anyone would find that hard to bear!
If it weren't for the fact that he was still too young and too weak, Naruto would've grabbed his diamond sword and put it to the Third's neck, telling him, "Old man, don't underestimate my blade."
Three years ago, after a day spent being mocked by the villagers and enduring their "praise," Naruto had decided to stay indoors more.
If they wanted to gossip, they could do it without seeing him. After all, what could they say when they didn't know where he was?
He couldn't believe the Anbu would let the villagers loiter outside his door.
If they dared, Naruto was prepared to make a scene—he'd hang himself in front of their houses and let the Third Hokage deal with the fallout.
In ten years or so, any rumor would just become part of the folklore of the Leaf Village.
Not that he hadn't been going outside at all. He just preferred to go out late at night when no one was around.
Three years ago, he'd even escorted little Hinata back home. Recently, he had saved her again from some bullies.
Naruto reflected on his childlike behavior in front of the Third.
At most, he was just a kid who didn't like going out much.
But what could anyone do about it?
After seeing the Third Hokage out, Naruto cleaned his dishes and tidied up his home.
While doing so, his eyes fell on the ninja academy enrollment letter on the table...
