Naruto: Konoha's Psychic

Chapter 156: Ch-156 Let me show you something.

Jiraiya stepped back from the window. "Let's go see for ourselves. Everything will be clearer on-site."

Tsunade nodded and signaled to an ANBU operative nearby. "Make sure no panic spreads through the village because of the chakra surges or the display of this jutsu."

The masked Anbu ninja gave a sharp nod and vanished from the office in a blur.

With that, Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Kakashi moved out at high speed. It didn't take them long to reach the Third Training Ground.

When they arrived, the sight before them was striking.

Hovering above the field was a dense cloud—not made of vapor, but of pure, crackling lightning. Suspended within it were dozens of short swords, arranged in a perfect grid, each acting like a node in a charged network. Bolts of lightning rained down from the cloud, striking the ground with explosive force. Trees splintered, the earth cracked, and the damage across the area was considerable.

Jiraiya studied the formation with keen interest. "He's channeled lightning chakra into every one of those blades using his Psychokinesis. They're all linked—forming a conductive grid. The cloud isn't natural; it's the byproduct of the synchronized energy from those swords. And from within it, he can direct lightning strikes wherever he wants inside the area."

He paused, estimating the field. "The range isn't huge—maybe thirty feet—but within that radius? It's devastating."

Kakashi adjusted his forehead protector, revealing his Sharingan. The red eye focused fully as he analysed the technique in detail.

"I agree with Lord Jiraiya," he said. "That's exactly how it's functioning."

Tsunade gave a small nod in response. Between the three of them, all seasoned in high-level ninjutsu, it wasn't difficult to understand the mechanics behind Inoiki's technique.

Meanwhile, out in the field, Inoiki could feel the toll on his chakra—more than half of it had been drained. Sensing it was time to stop, he released the technique. The lightning that had enveloped the swords began to fade, and the crackling cloud overhead slowly dissipated. One by one, the swords lost their levitation and plunged to the ground, embedding themselves in the scorched earth.

Inoiki surveyed the aftermath. The ground was charred black, trees splintered and burned—some still smoldering with open flames.

Without hesitation, he raised his hand and used his Psychokinesis to summon several orbs of water from the moisture in the air. He directed them toward the fires, dousing the flames before they could spread further.

Once the area was under control, Inoiki turned to face Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Kakashi. A faint smile crossed his lips.

"Sorry for the alarm," he said calmly. "Didn't mean to cause a scene."

Tsunade waved off his apology with a gesture. "It looks like you've succeeded. I have to say, this ninjutsu is impressive—extremely powerful."

Inoiki gave a small nod. "It is powerful, but it comes with a cost. Just using it once drained almost half of my chakra. The initial process—forming the grid, channeling lightning into every blade, and synchronizing the entire structure—consumes a lot. And the longer I maintain it, the more lightning I direct, the faster my chakra burns away."

Tsunade nodded thoughtfully. "That's to be expected. A technique of this scale isn't supposed to come cheap."

Jiraiya grinned, folding his arms smugly. "You're just like me. When I was your age, I was nearly as strong—if not stronger. Don't forget, I am the legendary Toad Sage, after all. Haha!"

Tsunade rolled her eyes. "Please. You weren't even close. If the two of you had fought at the same age, he would've left you crying like a brat."

Jiraiya's grin faded, his ego visibly deflating under the weight of her blunt assessment.

Inoiki chuckled at the exchange, unable to help himself.

Kakashi, watching from the side, smiled quietly behind his mask, clearly amused by Jiraiya's wounded pride.

At that moment, Tsunade turned to Inoiki, her expression serious.

"Inoiki, I have a mission for you. After capturing Sasori, Sunagakure wasn't able to extract much information. However, he did reveal one critical detail—he was scheduled to meet with a spy he had embedded near Orochimaru."

She paused, letting the weight of the words settle.

"I'm assigning Team Kakashi to follow up on that lead. If we're lucky, we might even be able to capture Orochimaru himself. It's highly likely that Sasuke is with him."

Tsunade's eyes narrowed slightly. "Given your ability to suppress the Nine-Tails' chakra in Naruto, I've decided to assign you to the mission as well. Your presence could be crucial."

Inoiki nodded without hesitation. "Understood. I'll do everything I can to bring back both Orochimaru and Sasuke."

Tsunade gave a small nod of approval. "I expect nothing less."

Jiraiya, now composed, stepped forward with a more curious expression. "I've got to ask—how exactly did you suppress the Nine-Tails' chakra inside Naruto?"

Inoiki replied calmly, "I wouldn't say I suppressed the Nine-Tails' chakra directly. More accurately, I calmed Naruto's mind. He was overwhelmed by rage, and that emotional instability was what allowed the Nine-Tails' chakra to start taking over. Once his emotions were stabilized, the chakra receded on its own."

Jiraiya nodded, confirming the theory. "Just as we suspected. But listen carefully, Inoiki—don't let your guard down around Naruto."

His tone grew more serious.

"When you intervened, the Nine-Tails had only manifested up to two tails. But the more tails that appear, the harder it becomes to contain. The chakra grows more violent, and the influence over Naruto becomes exponentially more dangerous."

Without another word, Jiraiya began unfastening his upper robe. As he slid the fabric off his shoulders, he said, "Let me show you something."
