Naruto: Konoha Silver Wolf

Chapter 53: A Fateful Encounter

The person who appeared behind Kakashi and Rin was a girl of their age with short black hair and delicate, exquisite features. Her most striking feature was her red eyes, making her look beautiful. Being in the same ninja class as the girl, Rin immediately recognised her. It was Kurenai Yuhi!

It was Kakashi's first time seeing Kurenai in her youth, and he couldn't help but take a few extra glances. At thirteen, she already had the makings of a future beauty, and her modest chest was quite prominent, not much smaller than Rin's.

As Kakashi looked at Kurenai, she also curiously observed him. Her eyes held a hint of admiration, probably due to the many tales she had heard about Kakashi's genius.

"Rin! Is he Kakashi?"

Though Kurenai was sure the silver-haired boy in front of her was Kakashi, she asked Rin for confirmation, her beautiful red eyes still curiously fixed on him.

"Yes! Kurenai, what brings you here? Where are your teammates?"

Rin nodded and then asked Kurenai. Seeing Kurenai look at Kakashi with admiration made her feel both proud and slightly uneasy. After all, anyone would feel a twinge of jealousy if another girl was admiring their beloved.

"It's you, Kakashi-senpai! I've heard so much about you and finally met you in person today!"

Upon hearing Rin's confirmation, Kurenai forgot bonded to remembrance. Although Kakashi was a year younger than her, Kurenai regarded him as a senior and spoke to him with excitement and admiration. "You're amazing, becoming a Jonin at twelve. We, who are in the same grade as Rin, haven't even passed the Chunin exams yet!"

"Hehe, hello, Kurenai Yuhi. Rin has mentioned you, an expert in genjutsu!"

Seeing that Kurenai was a fan, Kakashi was pleasantly surprised and gave her a gentle smile.

"Really? Kakashi-senpai, you know me!"

Kurenai's excitement grew. Knowing that her idol was aware of her and her genjutsu expertise thrilled her even more.

"Yes! Stay encouraged. You'll pass the next Chunin exam!"

Kakashi continued to smile, feeling proud. Being admired felt terrific, especially when the admirer was one of Konoha's prominent future Jonin.

"For Kakashi-senpai's words, I'll work hard to pass the next Chunin exam!"

Kurenai's face flushed with excitement at Kakashi's encouragement, and she spoke with determination.

"Kurenai!"

Feeling increasingly sidelined, Rin called Kurenai, who happily chatted with Kakashi.

"Ah! What did you ask me earlier, Rin? I forgot!"

Kurenai finally remembered Rin and apologised with an embarrassed look.

"Where are your teammates? Why are you here alone?"

Rin asked, trying to hide her frustration.

"Oh, they went to buy ninja tools! We're going on a C-rank mission outside the village later!"

Kurenai explained, then curiously asked Rin and Kakashi, "Why are you two here together?"

"I..."

Rin blushed, feeling too shy to admit she was on a date with Kakashi.

"We're on a date!"

But Kakashi, unlike Rin, boldly announced with a smile.

Rin's face turned even redder at Kakashi's words. She couldn't look at Kurenai, but her heart was sweet. Kakashi had admitted to their date in public, essentially acknowledging their relationship. Rin's heart pounded with joy at the thought.

"Ah..."

Kurenai gasped in surprise, her cute mouth slightly open. She looked at Kakashi and Rin, realising they were dressed casually, and Rin had gone to great lengths to look pretty. Kurenai realised she had intruded on their date.

"I... I'm sorry. I didn't know you were on a date. I didn't mean to interrupt..."

Kurenai apologised, her face turning red with embarrassment. She felt a slight loss, knowing that Kakashi had someone he liked, and it was her friend Rin from the Ninja Academy.

"I'll leave you two alone now. Sorry for disturbing you..."

Kurenai quickly turned and ran off, feeling too awkward to stay.

"I was too excited to see Kakashi-senpai and didn't notice they were on a date!"

Kurenai berated herself internally as she ran.

"But Rin and Kakashi-senpai do make a good match!"

Kurenai thought, feeling happy for them despite a slight twinge of jealousy. Knowing her idol had someone he liked was a bit bittersweet.
