Naruto: I Reincarnated with Magi System

Chapter 18: Marked

Chapter 18: Marked

In the dimly lit confines of the Root headquarters, Danzo Shimura sat silently, reading through the report on the events at Sakumo's camp. The details were vague, but the mention of a remarkable healing technique performed by Shin Hattori caught his attention.

Danzo's sharp eyes narrowed as he contemplated the implications. A boy with such an ability... That level of healing could tip the scales in any battle. If I cannot bring him under my control, he must be removed so no one else can benefit from his power.

With ruthless determination, Danzo issued orders to his operatives. "You are to accompany the reinforcements heading to Sakumo's camp. Observe Shin Hattori closely. If the opportunity arises, eliminate him discreetly."

The Root agents bowed in unison, disappearing into the shadows.

Months passed, and the relentless war between the shinobi villages continued to paint the days red. Skirmishes grew bloodier, and the casualties mounted. Amidst the chaos, Konoha's forces found moments of hope in unlikely places. Shin's feats had already reached the ears of many, and even Tsunade of the Sannin took notice upon her return from Amegakure.

In a meeting with Hiruzen Sarutobi and other clan heads, Tsunade passionately argued the importance of establishing a medical ninja in every team. Her voice was tinged with anger and urgency, driven by the near-death of her younger brother, Nawaki, during a recent battle with Sunagakure.

"If it weren't for the Hattori boy's intervention, Nawaki wouldn't be alive right now," Tsunade said, slamming her fist on the table.

Hiruzen nodded solemnly, knowing that Shin's miraculous abilities had once again proved invaluable. The idea of incorporating medical ninjas into teams gained significant traction, with Tsunade spearheading the initiative.

Meanwhile, Team 4 had been assigned to guard a critical supply convoy traveling between three camps. Accompanying them was Shisui Uchiha's team, consisting of Rin Nohara, Obito Uchiha, and Might Guy.

As the convoy made its way through the forest, Rin couldn't help but glance at Shin. She noticed how much he had matured since the last time she'd seen him. His calm demeanor and focused expression made her blush slightly.

Obito, noticing Rin's attention, scowled. "Hey, Shin! After this mission, let's spar. I need to teach you a lesson or two!"

Shin raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Oh? You're sure you can keep up this time, Obito?"

The banter lightened the mood, drawing laughter from both teams. Even Shisui smiled, though his eyes betrayed a hint of curiosity as he studied Shin. He had heard of the boy's exploits and could see there was something extraordinary about him.

The convoy traveled deeper into the forest, the air thick with tension despite the laughter moments ago. Suddenly, ten shinobi dressed in Amegakure attire emerged from the shadows, surrounding the group.

The leader of the attackers stepped forward, his voice cold and commanding. "Kill everyone. Leave the Hattori boy alive."

Shisui's eyes narrowed as he analyzed the situation. These aren't Amegakure shinobi. They're too coordinated. Someone's targeting Shin.

Without hesitation, he barked orders. "Form a defensive perimeter! Protect the convoy at all costs!"

The group immediately sprang into action. Kakashi, Hikari, Rin, Obito, and Guy took their positions, while Shisui and Shin moved to cover the convoy.

Shin's eyes burned with determination as he stepped forward. He clenched his fists, feeling the surge of energy within him. He wouldn't allow himself to be a burden—not this time.

"I won't make the same mistake twice," he muttered, his voice steady.

The attackers launched their assault, their movements precise and lethal. Kunai and shuriken flew through the air as the two teams clashed with the enemy.

Shisui's Sharingan whirled as he engaged two opponents at once, moving with unmatched speed and precision. Obito and Kakashi worked in tandem, their rivalry pushing them to fight harder. Rin provided support, skillfully deflecting attacks while ensuring the convoy's safety.

Hikari unleashed her fury, her palms flashing as she took down one enemy after another. Guy's taijutsu prowess was on full display as he pummeled an attacker with raw strength.

Shin faced off against one of the attackers, his mind calm and focused. He channeled his training, using his magoi to augment his speed and strength. His opponent was skilled, but Shin's newfound confidence and power tipped the scales.

With a swift, decisive strike, Shin disabled his opponent. He turned to assist Kakashi, who was locked in a fierce duel with another attacker. Together, they overwhelmed the enemy, forcing the remaining attackers to retreat.

As the dust settled, the group regrouped around the convoy. Though the battle had been intense, no one from their team had been seriously injured.

Shisui approached Shin, his expression serious. "You did well. But be careful—these weren't ordinary attackers. Someone is after you."

Shin nodded, his resolve hardening. He knew this was only the beginning.

Far away, in the shadows, one of the Root operatives watched the scene unfold. He vanished into the forest, ready to report back to Danzo.

Back at the convoy, Shin clenched his fists. If they want to target me, they'll have to try harder than this.
