Chapter 51: Chapter 51 Wish, Sako's Mangekyō Sharingan
Night at Dazna's House
"You guys have no idea how cool Kakashi-sensei was today! That guy, the one they called the Demon, his murderous aura was so intense I couldn't even move. But, Kakashi-sensei took him down with just one strike! And he said the guy was a Jōnin, no less. So amazing..."
Sakura sat in the living room, enthusiastically recounting Kakashi's heroic moment to Naruto and Sako. After experiencing this battle, Sakura's admiration for Kakashi had skyrocketed to near-worship. After all, a Jōnin wasn't just anyone—it was a big deal!
"Alright, alright..."
Naruto brushed off her excitement. "You okay, Naruto? You too, Sako?" Kakashi asked after Sakura finished.
"Yeah, we're fine. Took care of those three little guys," Naruto replied casually, though Sako frowned a bit at his nonchalant attitude. She knew Naruto had let Shiro go, but didn't say anything. What she didn't realize was that Shiro was now under Naruto's genjutsu.
"Good. Now, Mr. Dazna, let's talk about this mission," Kakashi said, his tone turning serious as he looked at Dazna. "This time, you're lucky our squad was assigned to this task. If it were just a regular team of Genin, they wouldn't have stood a chance against a Jōnin-level opponent. Don't be fooled by how quickly I took him down—he's one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, an Elite Jōnin."
Kakashi, though calm, was now in full "business mode," as he addressed the situation.
"Uh, well... I really didn't have enough money to request a higher-ranking mission. I'm so grateful for you saving my life today," Dazna said, trying to play innocent, hoping to avoid the issue of payment.
"This time, the enemy sent a Jōnin-level ninja. That makes this an A-rank mission. Mr. Dazna, you have two options: Either find a way to pay the additional fee for an A-rank mission, and we'll continue, or we leave now, and you'll have to protect yourself from here on out," Kakashi said coldly, giving Dazna no room to squirm out of the situation.
"W-What? How is that different from what Kado's doing? We're just victims here! My country is suffering!" Dazna began his sob story, explaining the plight of the Land of Waves and their conflict with Kado.
"Sakura, Sako, go back and rest. Let Kakashi-sensei handle this," Naruto said, clearly uninterested in the ongoing conversation.
"But, Naruto… Mr. Dazna and his people are really suffering! Maybe we should—"
"Sakura, if it hadn't been for Kakashi-sensei today, you'd be dead right now. Think about that," Naruto interrupted her firmly before walking away with a cold expression.
Sakura was conflicted. Her compassionate side wanted to help, but Naruto's words hit hard. He was right. Without Kakashi, they wouldn't have survived. Sako, too, kept silent. Though she appeared calm, she understood the gravity of the situation. That was also why she helped keep Naruto's release of Shiro a secret.
"Naruto, Sako..." Sakura murmured, recalling her own fear earlier, as she headed upstairs.
Back in his room, Naruto entered the sealed space of the Nine-Tails. Today's events had changed Shiro's fate, earning him 5000 fate points. But the fate of Zabuza remained unchanged, so no additional points were awarded. Now, it was time to give Sako a little reward.
Sako's Room
Sako quickly peeled off her clothes, tossing aside the girly outfit in favor of her old short-sleeved boyish clothes.
"Hmph, this 'Goddess System' is a joke! It's not even as strong as Naruto. What's the point? This is way more comfortable..." Sako muttered, collapsing onto the tatami.
Ding "Host has achieved a breakthrough. You are now eligible for a primary wish."
Suddenly, a familiar voice rang in Sako's ears. She immediately snapped to attention.
"It's back! Goddess System, you finally showed up again. A wish? Can I ask for anything?" Sako asked eagerly, her heart racing.
Ding "Low-level wish detected. Outrageous wishes will not be granted. You have one chance. Please state your wish."
Sako frowned at the restriction but quickly analyzed her options. Without any limits, she would've wished to become the strongest ninja. But with only one wish and no guarantee, she had to be more strategic.
Her mind flashed to a memory: "You are not worthy to be killed by me, my foolish brother… If you wish to kill me, then hate me, loathe me, and survive in disgrace. When you obtain the same eyes as me, only then can you challenge me…"
Sako's scarlet Sharingan glowed as the memory came into focus. She knew exactly what her wish would be.
"My wish is to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan!"
This was the supreme power of the Uchiha clan. Would this so-called primary wish be enough to grant it?
Time seemed to stretch on for what felt like forever. Sako's heart raced.
"As you wish..."
The voice answered, and Sako suddenly felt the two tomoe in her eyes spinning rapidly. Where she couldn't see, a third tomoe appeared, then changed once again.
After a moment of rapid, invisible transformation, the six-pointed star pattern of the Mangekyō Sharingan shone in Sako's eyes.
"It worked! Mangekyō Sharingan! I finally have it!!"
Overcome with excitement, Sako grabbed a mirror and stared at her reflection. Tears filled her eyes as she gazed at the powerful Sharingan that now belonged to her.
