Sasuke sat down in front of Orochimaru's corpse.

"Bastard!" Sasuke panted heavily. "As expected, this guy still had a trick up his sleeve!"

He slowly stood up and walked out of the base.

Karin looked at Orochimaru's body with confusion in her eyes.

"As I thought, you're here," came an ethereal voice from an empty cultivation tank. "Has Orochimaru been defeated?"

"That's right. Compared to this thing..." Sasuke paused and swung his blade at the cultivation tank. "I'd rather let you out first. Suigetsu!"

"Finally out," a naked man slowly stood up from the culture fluid. "Thanks, Sasuke."

"Hurry up. We still have two more people to pick up." Sasuke turned around and walked out.

"Hahaha!" Suigetsu suddenly laughed. "Don't talk to me in that bossy tone. First, let's make our relationship clear."

In an instant, Suigetsu appeared by Sasuke's ear. "Sorry, just because you rescued me doesn't mean I'll follow you. Even if you did defeat Orochimaru, that doesn't mean you're all that. Am I wrong?"

A moment later—

Suigetsu knelt down in front of Sasuke, smoke rising from his body. "Sumimasen!"

"You can put on your clothes now." Sasuke walked out expressionlessly.

"Hai~ Hai~"

Ding dong~

"Hi! Who is it?" A sweet voice came from the room.

The door opened to reveal none other than Sakura Haruno standing outside, slightly flushed.

"Hello!" Sakura stood shyly at the entrance.

"Oh! You're here to see Naruto." Izumi smiled warmly at Sakura. "Come in."

She turned around and walked into the room. "Hey~ Naruto, Sakura's here to see you!"

A voice called from deeper inside.

"Hey~! Wake up! Don't sleep, Naruto! Water Style: Water Dragon Bullet!"

"Ahh!!"

A while later, Naruto sluggishly followed Sakura on the road toward the Hokage building.

"You're so slow!" Tsunade scolded. "What are you dawdling for? Seriously!"

"I'm sorry, Lady Tsunade," Sakura bowed deeply. "It's Naruto's fault. He insisted on having breakfast at Ichiraku Ramen first!"

"Well, let it go, Tsunade," Jiraiya said, trying to calm her.

Naruto yawned as he entered the room.

"Huh?!" Naruto exclaimed when he saw Jiraiya. "Pervy Sage! Haha! When did you get back? Is the investigation over?"

"Haha, long time no see, Naruto," Jiraiya chuckled.

"Seriously, you never tell me when you're back," Naruto said, sulking. "Ever since you left, I've been through hell."

"Yeah, I heard," Jiraiya replied sympathetically.

"I went to Orochimaru's base for no reason, then chased the Three-Tails... didn't even see a whisker. Came back empty-handed. Waste of time."

"Really? That's pretty rough," Jiraiya nodded.

"So how'd your research go?"

"Yosh! Top-tier results!"

"Sou ka, sou ka! Come on, let's go have a bowl of miso ramen! Let's research together!"

"Oh ho ho! Sure thing! My treat! Let's go!"

The two walked shoulder to shoulder out the door…

Tsunade's veins bulged as she stomped behind them…

Moments later, both Naruto and Jiraiya crouched in the corner with large bumps on their heads.

"Ahaha~" Sakura laughed awkwardly. "I'm sorry, Lady Tsunade. Naruto! Apologize already!"

"Sigh~" Tsunade exhaled. "Orochimaru is dead."

Jiraiya and Naruto went silent.

"It's spreading everywhere now—Sasuke killed the snake bastard," Tsunade said helplessly.

Everyone but Sakura fell silent, each reflecting on their history with Orochimaru.

Then suddenly—wait. Sad? Hell no. Orochimaru outlived nearly all of them!

"You woke me up just for this?!" Naruto groaned.

"Aren't you sad?!" Tsunade snapped.

Naruto shrugged. "That guy outlived all of us."

"You mean?!" Tsunade was stunned.

"What are you talking about?" Jiraiya blinked. "I don't get it."

Naruto and Tsunade looked at each other and said in unison: "Idiot!"

"Nani?!" Jiraiya barked.

Naruto threw his arm around Jiraiya's shoulders. "Let's go get some BBQ. My treat!"

"Eh~?" Jiraiya was dragged off, confused.

"What's going on, Lady Tsunade?" Sakura asked, puzzled.

"Nothing. Now that Orochimaru is dead, it's time we bring Uchiha Sasuke back. Get ready to go find him."

"Hai!" Sakura turned and left.

"Ah~" Tsunade sighed. "Dead or not, I still don't know if this is good or bad."

At the same time—

Boom!

A massive surge of magma rushed toward a figure.

"Water Style: Exploding Water Colliding Wave!" An overwhelming tide poured forth, extinguishing the molten flow, creating a massive mist cloud.

A figure emerged from the fog slowly.

"Finally, a little more obedient," Kisame Hoshigaki muttered, planting Samehada into the ground. Beside him lay a heavily injured red-haired man. "This guy was a real pain."

It was none other than the Four-Tails' Jinchūriki—Rōshi!

"Is it over?" Uchiha Itachi asked, not turning around.

"Yeah, it's over," Kisame replied, poking Rōshi with Samehada. "I didn't kill him. Took some effort to keep this one alive."

"He seems to be dying," Itachi noted with a slight frown. "Be gentle. He's an old man."

"No, no, you don't get it," Kisame said, waving dramatically. "He's the Jinchūriki of the Four-Tails, Lava Style user. Doesn't feel like an old man at all! You didn't fight him directly—you don't know how hard that was."

"Fine, fine. I'll stop complaining," Kisame sighed. "Let's just say, if I had to fight your target, I'd beat him to death."

"Huh?" Itachi blinked. "You've made contact?"

Suddenly, a projection appeared through their rings, connecting to the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path.

"Too slow," Pain scolded as he appeared.

"Well~ we just finished capturing the Four-Tails' Jinchūriki. Gotta make sure he doesn't escape, right?" Kisame chuckled. "What's the update?"

"Just a piece of news," Pain said. "Orochimaru is dead."

Itachi narrowed his eyes.

"He was killed by Uchiha Sasuke."

Pain continued, "The organization is moving now. Likely targeting you two. Be cautious."

"Everyone else should also be wary of Uchiha Sasuke. He may attempt to gather intel on Itachi and Kisame, and act against Akatsuki. Watch yourselves."

Pain formed a seal with both hands. The massive Gedo Statue rose from the ground.

"Anyway! Let's seal the Three-Tails and Four-Tails first!"
