Chapter 141: Chapter 139: The Tail
Chapter 139: The Tail
On the desolate island, within the wooden hut, Baishi's figure appeared silently.
He didn't immediately begin his training. Having successfully developed his flight jutsu, it was time to reorganize and reallocate his time and energy among various abilities.
First, the morning routine would remain unchanged.
Despite the increased difficulty of using physical training to enhance his basic attributes, this was his foundation, and he couldn't afford to reduce the time spent on it.
Next, he decided to slightly increase the time dedicated to improving Absorptive Skin and Mental Resistance.
Three months had passed since he had gained Dust Release. Over this period, the progress of these abilities had increased significantly—from 66.5% and 65.8% to 86.5% and 86.1%, respectively.
With more focus, Baishi was confident that within two months, he could break through the upper limits of these abilities, achieving qualitative transformations.
Once that was done, his reason for secluding himself on the island would be fulfilled.
At that point, even Black Zetsu would likely pose no real threat to him, and Baishi could freely roam the shinobi world.
The thought excited him. While he had grown accustomed to solitude and dedicating himself to training, prolonged isolation had inevitably led to feelings of loneliness.
"Perhaps I'll travel the world after this," he muttered before shaking off the thought and refocusing.
He opened his system interface, directing his attention to Enhanced Perception, Spatial Awareness, and Regeneration.
Regeneration, as the only ability to have already exceeded its limits, had not progressed significantly over the last three months. There was no need to allocate extra effort to it; steady progress would suffice.
Enhanced Perception and Spatial Awareness, on the other hand, had each improved by nearly 20 percentage points but still hadn't reached the threshold for a breakthrough.
As for Dust Release, it had advanced from V (40.6%) to VI (46.5%), though the level was still not particularly high, and further improvement was relatively manageable.
Baishi decided to redirect some of the time he had been spending on his flight jutsu toward Dust Release, aiming to elevate it as quickly as possible.
With everything planned, Baishi entered his training state.

Meanwhile, in the outside world, many parties were actively searching for Baishi.
First among them was the Akatsuki organization.
After a long and fruitless search, Ōnoki had passed the task on to the Akatsuki.
The Akatsuki, of course, eagerly accepted the commission.
However, contrary to Ōnoki's expectations, Nagato's primary interest in Baishi was not to eliminate him but to recruit him into the Akatsuki. This intention grew even stronger when, under political pressure from Iwagakure, Konoha officially declared Baishi a rogue ninja.
But despite their extensive efforts, Baishi remained elusive.
Frustrated, Ōnoki placed a bounty on Baishi through the black market.
The promise of high rewards drew many bounty hunters, sparking a frenzied treasure hunt. Yet, none yielded results.
At the same time, Danzo was also mobilizing.
Baishi's use of Root members to attack Iwagakure had placed Danzo in a precarious political position, forcing him to act.
Even more concerning to Danzo was Baishi's capability to covertly control so many of his subordinates. The mere thought left him deeply unsettled.
Danzo had always considered Root operatives as extensions of his will, immune to betrayal. Yet now, Baishi had proven capable of overriding this control.
Recognizing Baishi as a significant threat, Danzo wasted no time.
"Strike first to gain the upper hand," he thought.
He immediately ordered Root operatives to search for Baishi across the entire continent.
Danzo's methods eventually bore fruit. Although they couldn't locate Baishi, they did manage to track down one of the Root members who had participated in the raid on Iwagakure and was now in hiding.
---
In the Land of Forests, within a small town called Falling Leaves, a young man with a cold demeanor walked along the street carrying some food.
From the shadows, two Root operatives cloaked in black robes and wearing masks observed him closely.
"Is it him?" one asked quietly.
As the youth disappeared from view, the other operative pulled out a photograph. A side-by-side comparison confirmed that the man was an exact match for their target.
Exchanging a brief glance, the two operatives vanished.
---
The following day.
At the Root headquarters in Konoha, Danzo stood abruptly, his gaze fixed on a kneeling subordinate before him.
"Are you certain?" he demanded.
"Yes, Lord Danzo," the operative replied confidently. "The individual is confirmed to be Jiujiu."
"Excellent."
Danzo rarely offered praise, but his tone softened momentarily before his expression hardened once more.
"Did you alert the target?"
"No, sir. After confirming his identity, we refrained from approaching. Instead, we've been monitoring him from outside the town. The target hasn't shown any signs of movement."
"Good."
Danzo nodded. He trusted the capabilities of his operatives but was still cautious. After all, the target had once been one of his own.
Deciding that caution was warranted, Danzo resolved to personally verify the situation.
---
Danzo's departure did not go unnoticed.
In the Hokage's office, Minato Namikaze listened to a subordinate's report, his expression contemplative.
After a moment, he called out, "Kakashi!"
From the corner of the room, a silver-haired ANBU operative wearing a cat mask stepped forward.
"Yes, Lord Fourth," Kakashi responded, his voice steady.
Minato regarded Kakashi, noting the palpable coldness that seemed to radiate from him like a tangible aura.
He sighed inwardly. The wounds in Kakashi's heart had yet to heal.
The loss of his teammates had already left deep scars, and Obito's recent death had torn them open anew.
Now, Kakashi's heart was more closed off than ever, sustained only by an unyielding hatred. Minato knew this wasn't sustainable.
'I hope someone can rekindle his spirit,' Minato thought. For some reason, Guy's lively image surfaced in his mind, drawing a faint smile to his lips.
"Lord Fourth?" Kakashi's voice interrupted his thoughts.
"Oh, right," Minato said, clearing his throat. The smile vanished as he resumed his serious demeanor.
"You've heard the situation. I'm assigning you to discreetly follow Lord Danzo and monitor his movements."
"Yes, sir," Kakashi replied, immediately departing to carry out the mission.
