Naruto : All Genders are reversed except for me

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: On Wives Turning Into Brothers

Sasuke stared at the flickering flames, her large eyes occasionally lost in thought.

Looking up at Naruto's cheerful face, she couldn't help but ask, "What's so funny?"

Hearing Sasuke's soft, feminine voice, Naruto responded naturally, "Every time I get to eat, I feel really happy. You, as a young lady from a prestigious family, can't possibly understand what a proper meal means to someone like me."

"Hmph, it's just a meal. I used to..."

Her words trailed off halfway, and Sasuke fell silent, as if remembering something from a past long gone.

Naruto, never one to rub salt in someone's wounds, handed her the largest grilled fish in his hand and said, "Try it. It might not taste great without seasoning."

Sasuke stared in surprise at the grilled fish Naruto handed over. Seeing his sunny smile, she felt her opinion of him subtly shift.

"Thanks. I'll repay you for this meal someday."

Naruto smiled wryly and said nothing, instead tearing off the burnt bits of his grilled fish.

"Itadakimasu!"

Adopting the local custom, Naruto said the phrase before eating. Whether he was addressing himself or the food, even he wasn't sure. And he definitely didn't dare to ask, lest he give himself away.

"Itadakimasu," Sasuke murmured, pressing her palms together lightly before they both began eating the slightly charred fish.

Despite the lack of seasoning, hunger made the simple grilled fish taste exceptionally delicious.

After finishing, Naruto extinguished the campfire, stood up, and asked Sasuke, "Want me to walk you back, or will you go on your own?"

After their interactions so far, Sasuke no longer saw Naruto as the annoying dead last. However, upon hearing his question, she looked up and said, "Weren't you asking for 20,000 ryo?"

Naruto smiled bitterly. "The Uchiha clan's wealth is gone. Where are you going to find 20,000 ryo?"

Sasuke might not know much about who was in Root, but she certainly knew about the Hyuga clan. With their Byakugan, they could find hidden stashes, whether buried underground or hidden in a mouse hole.

Naruto had no real hope for the 20,000 ryo.

"Hmph, a promise from the Uchiha clan must be fulfilled. Follow me," Sasuke said as she stood up and grabbed Naruto's hand, heading straight for the Uchiha compound.

"Hey, stop dreaming. There's no way they left anything for you," Naruto protested.

He didn't want to waste time on a fruitless trip when he could be wandering the streets to gather negative points or practicing chakra control back home.

"Hmph, there's one place they wouldn't have touched," Sasuke said cryptically.

"What place?" Naruto asked, though he still didn't hold out much hope. Root members were unwaveringly loyal to Danzo, and there was no way they'd leave anything behind out of kindness.

"It's the training ground I shared with that woman for practicing throwing techniques. There aren't any coins there, but it still holds a stash of kunai and shuriken. If they're intact, selling them should fetch 20,000 ryo."

Naruto's eyes lit up as he snapped out of his lethargy. It was like someone had injected adrenaline straight into his veins.

"Right, Itachi and Sasuke's throwing practice ground! It wouldn't have been within the Uchiha compound but somewhere within the Uchiha territory."

Shuriken, as basic consumable ninja tools, sold for about 1,000 ryo each. Kunai, being more versatile close-combat weapons akin to short swords or daggers, were priced at around 3,000 ryo each.

If he could get his hands on a dozen kunai and sell them at half price, 20,000 ryo would be a piece of cake.

The thought made Naruto reflect on the wealth of families like Tenten's and Shikamaru's. Tenten's clan supplied Konoha with weapons, while Shikamaru's managed medicinal supplies—they were loaded.

No wonder Tenten used kunai like they were shuriken, and Shikamaru always acted like he couldn't care less about anything. He didn't need to; his family was so rich that, before becoming a ninja, his ambition was simply to marry a modest, virtuous wife and live a peaceful, ordinary life.

"Fine. If you can help me get the money, I'll give you something in return," Naruto said.

Hearing this, Sasuke frowned. "Something in return? What, a bouquet, a bento, or a love letter? If that's the case, forget it. I already get enough of that nonsense from the boys in our class."

Naruto froze and looked back at Sasuke. "Wait, the ones giving you flowers and bentos—does that include Sakura and Ino?"

Sasuke gave him an odd look. "Can you not be so gross? Besides... the boys in our class? Only Hinata has been kind to you. When did you get so familiar with the others? Sakura? Ino? They're men, not women. Calling them by those names is disgusting."

Hinata, Sakura, Ino—men? Naruto felt like he had turned to stone.

"What now?" Sasuke asked, noticing Naruto standing frozen. She tugged his hand and pulled him forward again.

"Uh, nothing... It's just that... you're still quite popular among the boys in class, huh?" Naruto stammered, quickly pulling himself together to avoid exposing his secret.

"Hmph, it's stupid. If they have time to give me flowers, make me bentos, or write me love letters, they should spend it improving themselves instead," Sasuke said dismissively.

Even as a girl, Sasuke remained the belle of the class, still pursued by the likes of Sakura and Ino—now young men.

Naruto made a token remark before falling silent, his mind swirling with chaotic thoughts.

Sasuke was now a girl. Hinata, Sakura, and Ino were boys. Did that mean Shikamaru, Choji, Neji, Lee, Kiba, Shino, and all the other boys had turned into girls?

"Oh my god... What kind of Naruto world have I ended up in?" Naruto groaned internally.

The thought of Hinata being a boy brought mixed feelings, but what could he do? He couldn't just die again and go back.

All he could do was accept it.

Maybe it wasn't so bad after all. If he couldn't be with Hinata as a husband, being classmates and friends wasn't the worst outcome.

And this way, there'd be no need to deal with the mess that was Boruto.

In his past life, when the Naruto sequel Boruto was announced, he had watched with high hopes. But after just 70 episodes, he gave up.

The story didn't just make the once youthful Naruto and his peers look ugly and greasy—it completely destroyed the power dynamics, ruined the art style, and turned into a ship-fest he could no longer bear.

And then...
