Naagin (rise of the serpent)

Chapter 48: CHAPTER FORTY-EIGHT: THE FINAL TRUTH 3

"Wait what?"

I could hear myself screaming out loud immediately Hijirar confirmed my thoughts of me being born a human.

But that can't be. That can't be right.

How could I be born a human. Both Hijirar and Arizona are snakes, powerful snakes. Hijirar being the snake god and Arizona being a powerful snake immortal.

How come both of them gave birth to a human? That can't be right. It definitely isn't true. Maybe, he's lying.

Hijirar stared at me with outmost interest, after he had dropped the bombshell (truth). He seemed to have expected my reaction and he waited to see more of my output. The way he sat on the throne made him look like a king,an emperor and a god which he actually is.

"That can't be right" I muttered after composing myself.

"...."

"You lie. I can't be born a human" I said disagreeing his claims.

"But you saw for yourself in the projection screen that you were born with legs, not with a snake tail".

"You lie" I shouted at the top of my voice.

"I'm not lying to you Naagin. I have no reason to lie. You saw for yourself that you were born with legs and you also saw the way I frowned upon setting my eyes on you". Hijirar smirked with a convincing grin.

"But you are a snake god and Arizona is a powerful snake immortal, how come I was born a human. And to think that Melissa was born a snake as well" I spoke trying to prove a point.

"I think there should be a reasonable explanation for why you were born a human" Hijirar spoke while putting his index finger on his lips.

I frowned hearing his words.

"What reasonable explanation is there for being born a human when my supposed parents are actually snakes".

Not to lie, I never really wanted to be a snake. I wanted to live a simple life, finish my education and also take care of my grandmother. But it turns out that my life was bigger than that.

And now, my supposed father sits on a throne, telling me that I was actually born a human. Isn't it complicating.

Ever since I found out about my destiny as the chosen one, I had always wished and wanted to never be a snake. I had always wanted to be a human forever but my destiny forced me into being a snake, but now it turns out that I am actually a human.

Or maybe born a human but now a snake.

"You seem quite lost in thoughts" Hijirar spoke jolting me out of my thoughts.

"No I'm not".

I lied.

"Oh,yes you are". Hijirar argued calmly.

I sighed softly and hissed.

"Now back to the explanation about why I was born a human" I reminded.

"Oh, yeah. Almost forgot because you were lost in the fantasy called thoughts".

I rolled my eyes at his boring words.

"Just explain to me why I was born a human instead of being born a snake". I pressed on impatiently. "Talk".

Hijirar shrugged his shoulders before clearing his throat. But I knew him clearing his throat was actually pretence.

"After you were born, I wasn't quite happy that my second child was born a human. I knew that it would not just tear me apart but also reduce my ego, knowing that a snake god has a human as an offspring..." Hijirar explained but stopped for some reason. Anyways, he continued after some seconds of looking at nothing in particular.

"But I later got to find out that the reason why you were born a human was actually because, your mother was once a human. Before she became a snake because I turned her into a snake, just like I did to you".

Hijirar finished his explanation with a toothy smile that really irritated me.

But I got a true sense of what he had actually said.

If I can remember vividly, Arizona had told about she being the daughter of the king of Umuguor community. That only means that she was once a human, until she was turned into a snake by Hijirar, probably when they got married.

Or should I say mated....

However, it is possible that I could be born a human but now the truth is, I'm no longer a human. I became a snake when I had consumed the golden seed the black Cobra gave to me during the time Ovie was stabbed.

Speaking of which, I haven't really seen the black Cobra for quite a long time.

***

Hijirar stared at his second daughter. He had noticed that she's the type who's always lost in thought.

Not to lie, he was once like that when he was young. And now, he could watch proudly how his second daughter took not just only his looks but also his behaviors and character. Maybe, she could have even inherited a great power from him.

But.....

Only if she knew....

Only if she knew that she was the cause.....

Only if she knew that she was the cause of everything that had happened all these years. Only if she knew that she was the cause of all the pain and sufferings the people of Umuguor community had faced during the war. Only if she knew that she was the reason why old lady Papirus lost her family.

Only if she knew that her birth as a human caused a lot of chaos and sufferings, then she wouldn't call me cruel for using her as a judgement or punishment on an evil sorcerer.

Only if she knew...

Hijirar smiled. It seems, he himself is also lost in thoughts.

***

'Could it be possible that Hijirar is the Black Cobra'.

A crazy question popped into my head. But it could actually be possible.

During the time the black Cobra gave me Hijirar's prayer,it had Hijirar's Jewel on its head. Old lady Papirus had shown me Hijirar's Jewel before, so I was able to recognize it.

So, could it be possible that Hijirar is the black Cobra?

Maybe I should ask him.

.

.

I cleared my throat after I had finished with my thoughts. It seemed Hijirar was also lost in his thoughts as well. Like father like daughter.

(Crazy right?)

"Are you the black Cobra that have been appearing to me ever since Ovie was stabbed?" I asked going straight to the point.

Hijirar seemed to be caught by surprise at my question but kept a calm demeanour.

"It seems, someone was able to figure it out herself"

Hijirar said, sending me a cunning smirk.

I took a step back seeing such a grin on his face and couldn't help but feel fear.

"So you are the black Cobra". I said waiting for him to confirm my words.

He gave a slight nod.

"So that mean you have been watching me ever since?" I asked expecting an answer.

But instead, I got a cunning grin.

With a flashing speed that resembled that of light, he stood up from the throne and before I knew what was happening, he was right in front of me.

I kinda caught by surprise and almost fell but he held my hand with his right hand and his left at my waist.

He stared into my eyes with his enchanting eyes and I couldn't help but feel a dominant aura.

He helped me gain my footing and to think I my instincts made me blush. F**k.

"Can I tell you something?" He asked but more like a request.

'Why does he want to tell me something?'

"Yeah". I simply answered.

He smiled a genuine smile and I raised an eyebrow.

"I think it would be better we both have a sit, you've been standing for a long time". Hijirar suggested.

"I was actually praying for you to suggest that, I have been standing since I got here".

He stretched out his finger and a golden smoke emanated from it. The golden smoke circled both of us and with the twinkling of an eye, two beautiful golden seats appeared.

I sat on one while he sat on the other. Once I was well balanced on the seat, I looked up at him wanting to hear what he had to say.

Soon he started talking and good luck that he did.

"Have you ever wondered the reason why everything that had happened actually seemed to happen?" Hijirar started by asking some kind of a strange question.

I shook my head sideways actually lost at where he seemed to be going with that question.

"Have you ever wondered the reason why, the people of Umuguor community had to suffer in a bloody war and being treated as slaves in a land that is not theirs? Have you ever wondered the reason why old lady Papirus lost her family? Have you ever asked yourself, why Huck went crazily greedy for my Jewel that he had to take down a whole community? Have you ever thought about the reason the inhabitants of Umuguor community had to suffer a fate just because of a socerer was going mad for a jewel? Have it ever crossed your mind the reason why I chose you to be the chosen one instead of choosing someone else?..."

Hijirar continued to ask questions after questions to which, I actually did not have answers to. But he was right.

It had never crossed my mind as to why everything that had happened, seem to happen. Never has crossed my mind.

But one thing I was sure of. That everything that had happened was all because of Huck which I finally realized was not true.

"To tell the truth, Hijirar" I said while calling the great god by his name. "None of this has actually crossed my mind".

"Then I think it's time you know the final truth".
