!Mild Spoilers Ahead!

A few readers have pointed out that the story needs a glossary, as some terms seemed to slip off their heads. So, even though this is not complete, this may help with that. More information will be added as the story progresses.

Hierarchy:

Plebeian: Commoner; can be titled or untitled. Only titled plebeians can own land.

Equites: Titled plebeians or legionnaires who have served the empire for years.

Patricians: High nobles.

Note: One can climb from lower ranks to higher, but can also fall to lower ranks. More info will be added later.

Legionary Hierarchy:

Tirones:

New recruits.

Auxiliaries:

Conscripted or non-citizen soldiers.

Milites/Legionary:

Elite soldiers, usually Common Class.

Immunes/Immunis (singular):

Soldiers with specialized skills exempt from normal duties (medics, artisans, blacksmiths, clerks).

Decurion:

Leader of ten elite soldiers, usually Noble Class.

Centurion:

Commander of a century, with ten decurions under them, usually Prestigious Class.

Primus Pilus:

Commander of a cohort, overseeing ten centurions, highest rank under Legate and Arch Imperator. Usually Fabled Class.

Legate:

Commander of a legion (5,000-10,000 soldiers), usually from the imperial family.

Dux/Duces (plural):

Commander of legions, potentially of royal blood, usually Heroic Rank.

Arch Imperator:

Supreme Commander/Emperor.

Other Ranks:

Myrmidon:

A loyal subordinate who executes orders unquestioningly.

Tribune:

Upper-class Patrician military officer in training. A legion can have ten tribunes.

Decarnus:

A decurion's squad of 8-10 men.

Characters:

Arilyn Arcis O'Ryon: The protagonist.

Ashlyn Amadeus: Arilyn's mother.

Jinn Ta'shin O'Ryon: Arilyn's father, a powerful individual (implied to be Prestige or Fabled Class) skilled in combat and Nullification. Former Rift explorer.

Emilyn (Emi) Amadeus: Arilyn's aunt, a Prestige Class Magus with Oracle Academy experience.

Rosalyn (Rose/Little Goblin) Amadeus: Arilyn's other aunt, a student at Oracle Academy and Shaper specializing in wind and lightning.

Diana: A friend of Arilyn and Eran, with Enchantment and Enhancement Essence.

Eran Stonecutter: A close friend of Arilyn, three seasons older, son of a farmer, Awakens Augmenter path, dreams of Knighthood.

Priam Octavius: Son of the Lord Magistratus, possesses Celerity Gift, often arrogant.

Aleya Octavius: Priam's elder sister, possesses Perception Gift.

Arata: A former acquaintance of Jinn, joined the legion and ranked up to centurion.

Nikolas Aelius: Rosalyn's father, and Primus Pilus in the legionary.

High Lady Shenaryn Amadeus: Ashlyn's mother.

Magus Prisca: Dreamweaver.

Tiberius Aelius: Royal Knight.

Hadrian Aelius Alberius: Previous Generation's Arch Imperator, possesses Purple Essence.

Old Rowin: Local Guildmaster of Karmel.

Delric: Combat instructor at Karmel's institution.

Claudius Octavius: Lord Magistratus of Karmel Valley, father of Aleya and Priam.

Tullia (Tuli): Karmel-born Noble Class Shaper, part of Serpent's Spite's main roster.

Ao Denarius: Patrician, part of Serpent's Spite's main roster.

Quintus Septimus Octavius: Patrician, holds a prominent position in Serpent's Spite.

Divinity:

Solas: Goddess of Fire and Passion.

Zaguar: God of Earth.

Nalyani: The Oracle.

Karmel Valley (Karmel): Arilyn's home. A part of the Dimir District.

Dimir District: The region in which Karmel Valley is located. A remote, agrarian area.

Klearon: A great city connected to four districts. A large city with a Waygate, serving as a central trade and gathering center.

Vashar: Home of the Amadeus family. A mountainous region, implied to be colder and wilder than Karmel Valley. Home of Winterheart Deer and Sabertooth Tigers.

Althelon: A pilgrimage spot of myth and legends.

Nalanda, The City of Stars: Main neutral city for the Awakened. Home of Oracle Academy, United Guild Coalition, and more.

Revalas: Capital of the Ablberan Empire.

Olympus: Highest mountain

The Lonely Wanderer: Inn in Klearon.

Oracle Academy: A prestigious institution for magical study.

Spirit Realm/Aetheric realms: Source of aether.

Groups/Organizations:

The Knights of the Emberleaf: A group devoted to the Tree of Life and pledged to service.

The United Guild Coalition: A force behind the world, made up of various magical factions that prioritize their interests over the world as a whole.

Serpent's Spite: A smaller guild serving as the police in the land in Dimir district.

Gifts & Paths:

Gifts: Unique, inherent abilities. Can be essence-based or soul-based.

Paths: An Awakened's specialty or calling.

Shaper: A path that enables one to mold elements, manipulate the building blocks of creation, and control magic.

Augmenter: A path that enhances primarily physical capabilities.

Classes: Hierarchical system denoting progression within a given Path, including Common, Noble, Prestigious, Fabled, Heroic, Legendary, and Mythic...

Honors: Unique qualifications given for displaying incredible achievement.

Primary Essence Types:

Transference:

Colorless.

Enchantment:

Yellow essence color.

Transformation:

Blue essence color.

Enhancement:

Red essence color.

Dream Essence:

Silvery.

Dusk Essence: White

Secondary and tertiary colours:

Purple: Transference + Transformation + Enhancement

Orange: Transference + Enhancement + Enchantment

Green: Transference + Transformation + Enchantment

Crafting/Smithing Terms:

Fabricator: A general term for crafted magical items.

Artifact: A high-quality fabricator with an internal faux weave, requiring a precise creation process.

Relic: An extremely old artifact with historical and cultural significance.

Apparatus: A system of tools designed for a particular task.

Engraving Pen: An instrument used by artisans and scribes to engrave runes.

Elensil: A special type of essence paper aiding in essence engraving and rune molding.
