Chapter 935: A Troubling Problem
"Ronald, I've already learned how to solve equations today."
"What are we going to discuss tomorrow?"
On the afternoon of May 6th, Ronald felt a sense of crisis.
He was facing a very difficult problem to solve.
In the bedroom office of the Adler mansion, Phil was sitting on a specially raised chair at the desk, putting down her teacup, and watching Ronald with eyes full of a desire and curiosity for learning knowledge.
Although Ronald maintained a serious expression on the surface, his hands under the desk were so nervous that they were about to scratch his pant legs!
The situation was simple—he was teaching Phil.
When leaving Waterfall City, Ronald also brought Phil, who had lost her parents, back to Kourpis.
And after returning to the mansion.
Based on the basic cognition of a modern person, Ronald certainly wouldn't let Phil grow up wildly in the countryside, causing her to fall behind in her studies. To address this issue, Ronald enthusiastically arranged Phil's daily learning content.
However, there was a slight discrepancy between reality and the plan.
What made Ronald exhibit such a conflicting demeanor was Phil's intelligence!
In unnecessary circumstances, Ronald naturally canceled Phil's cognitive enhancement ability since such an exaggerated brain enhancement wasn't entirely good and might rob Phil of her experiences.
But even without this ability, Phil's excellence was still remarkable. She probably inherited an excellent brain from her father as a detective; the little girl's learning speed was incredibly fast.
Now it was just summer.
Phil had effortlessly digested the two-year study plan content that Ronald had originally scheduled.
And Ronald...
Honestly, if it were only middle school level knowledge, he could rely on his good knowledge level to reproduce it.
But to continue upward, into high school and university parts...
In the adult working world, Ronald had returned all of those things to his teachers and schools long ago. Facing certain specific problems, he could still apply and solve them, but conducting detailed lectures covering multiple angles was truly too difficult!
Under the pressure of his teaching work.
Ronald even considered making some unconventional moves.
For example, should he steal a few original books to serve as textbooks for Phil?
Ronald remembered that the grand witch Teresa of the "Council of Twelve Witches" seemed to have a copy of "Introduction to Fluid Mechanics". Maybe solving this according to this line of thinking could yield significant results?
Knock, knock, knock—
At this moment, the bedroom door was knocked from the outside.
Upon hearing the sound, Ronald didn't wait for the person outside to speak before shouting, as if he'd found a savior:
"Who is it! What's the matter?"
"Mr. Ronald, there's a visitor outside who wishes to see you."
As Ronald inquired, Edward, standing outside, pushed the door open and came in.
This descendant of the past Entrode dynasty, whom Ronald brought back from the Sea of Void to the real world, was now working for Ronald in Kourpis. This was because the princess Veronica of the Entrode dynasty, to whom Edward had sworn allegiance, was also a servant in this mansion.
Having gone through many trials and tribulations, Edward never considered doing something drastic to rescue the princess from Ronald; he very calmly accepted reality and prepared to protect Veronica in Kourpis until the end of his own life.
This was also what Edward felt he could do now.
Meanwhile, there was a touch of gratitude in Ronald's eyes from behind the desk.
He first waved Edward down to prepare to receive the guest, then stood up from behind the desk, turning to look at Phil beside him:
"Phil, there's a guest downstairs. I'll go entertain them first."
"Constant intense studying isn't a good thing. I'll give you a break tomorrow; go play in the village!"
"Huh?" Phil's expression was clearly a bit surprised.
"But I prefer studying..."
Before Phil finished her sentence, Ronald, as if he'd completed a task, fled the bedroom in a hurry, grabbing a coat and rushing downstairs to the hall.
Dressing neatly upon reaching the first floor.
As Ronald left the staircase corner, he immediately saw the four visitors standing in the hall.
Three were adult men he'd never seen before.
And the other was Patricia, whom he hadn't seen for months and had only corresponded with through letters before.
"Patricia, why have you come!"
The long-absent reunion with Patricia made it difficult for Ronald to hide his joy, and he enthusiastically pulled her to sit on the newly bought sofa in the living room.
"I've written you quite a few letters; you must have received them, right?"
Patricia nodded naturally:
"I received all of them. If not for your updates, I really wouldn't have known so much had happened in Entrode again..."
They chatted for a while happily.
Knowing not to steal the spotlight during this visit, Patricia quickly shifted the topic to the other people in the hall:
"But Ronald, the main character today isn't me."
Understanding her hint, Ronald followed Patricia's gaze to look at Dominic:
"Hello, I'm Ronald Adler?"
"Dominic, pleased to meet you!" Dominic quickly introduced himself.
Thinking of the man before him and the beautiful young girl he saw outside, this new nobleman's tone was slightly trembling:
"By the Queen's command, I will soon begin handling the subsequent planning and management of Black Mountain Town. Having heard that someone like Mr. Ronald lives around Black Mountain, naturally, I had to come and visit."
"A small gift, but a token of respect—"
As he spoke, Dominic handed a wooden box to Ronald.
According to Grad customs about gifts, it's not appropriate for the giver to open them on the spot, so Ronald waved Edward to put it away, continuing his conversation with Dominic:
"Mr. Dominic, what are your plans for Black Mountain Town?"
"In Her Majesty's plans, Black Mountain Town will become a very important city. Naturally, my plan is to make it meet Her Majesty's needs as much as possible, turning it into a jewel of the eastern part of Grad's homeland..."
Ronald led the conversation, and Dominic naturally followed, beginning to introduce his plans.
After learning about his tenure and some specific issues, Ronald finally expressed his attitude:
"Having the will to develop is always a good thing."
"Regarding issues related to Black Mountain Town, I will do my best to support your work, and I have no additional requirements. After all, Kourpis isn't short of any essential supplies."
After stating his stance, Ronald glanced out the window at the sky.
Seeing that it was getting late, he proactively invited:
"Since it's already late, why don't you all stay in Kourpis for the night and return to Black Mountain Town refreshed in the morning."
